Dieting for Disney

Oy! I'm a broken record. I had a TERRIBLE food weekend AGAIN! True it was hubby's birthday so that's part of the reason, but I do feel terrible about it! We're just getting into warmer weather now and I'm sure my spring clothes are too tight. I've got to get going but with Easter coming up, that chocolate's going to be banging down my door!!! Anyone have a great way to deal with temptation????

Anyone have a great way to deal with temptation????

Don't let it into your house!
Anything that can be bad for me (mostly) stays
out of the house that way I won't be tempted to binge.
Hang a sign on the door for the Easter Bunny to stay away:rotfl2:
Even though you had a bad week, start over today.
Everyday is a new day; don't let it get to you:goodvibes

CJKWhen it comes to exercise, you are one of the strongest women I have ever met (sort of). When it comes to your diet, you have a tendency to to let desires get the best of you. It is almost impossible to always be strict, especially when there are so many gooey treats right there for the taking. That's where willpower comes into play over desire. Or actually, desire should take over. What do you desire most? Is it the chocolate that you can have for Easter? Or the ability to be able to come on here next Monday and tell everyone that you were successful beating back your temptation? I know that this may sound like strong advice but it is coming from someone who has done the same thing that you are doing. I also feel like you kind of need something over the top. Of course, I mean NO dis-respect so please don't take it that way. But I can tell you that the thought of having to come on here and tell everyone that I failed myself and all of you gives me the willpower to say no to whatever the Easter Bunny may bring into the house. I can't let you guys down. (Hope that helps.)

It's getting a little quite around here. Is everyone doing good? I know I really look forward to reading the posts. It's very motivating. But I also understand that life can get in the way so lapses will happen. I just hope all is well.

Just in case it does remain a little quite around here, I would like to go ahead and wish everyone a Happy Easter.

Hope you are all having a great week.

Bryan

Hi Everyone-

It sounds like some of you are doing really well, congrats to you! And some of you are struggling a little bit, but remember that you will always have some days that are better than others. Some days will be easier than others too. One thought that I really try to keep in mind when I'm having a weak food moment, is that if I eat that extra helping or that dessert...then I just have to work harder that day. When you think about it, is it really worth eating that extra helping if you have to walk on the treadmill another 20 minutes to make up for it? UGH! :scared:

I have been feeling like these remaining pounds are taking FOREVER to come off, but I realized since I posted a couple weeks ago, I'm down another 2.5 pounds. My goal is soo close, only 12 pounds away. I wish it would come easier!

Hope everyone is doing well. Heres to everyone to keep motivated and also to 'just say no' to that extra, not needed second helping!:wizard:

Morning Everyone!
I've been doing ok this week. I'm having a real issue
with body image lately. Does anyone ever have this?
I know that I'm smaller, but still see myself as 200+
I went shopping for a new outfit and was able to find
a pair of 4's that fit me (I'm really a 6-8, but was happy
to put on a 4- If the tag says it then it must be true:rotfl: )
I haven't been this size EVER!
It's just hard working out and knowing that your tummy won't
ever get that ripped look or even bikini ability because the
skin was just too stretched out to bounce back:sad2:
Ok, that's my pity party for the year lol, I'm thankful for my
healthy lifestyle and I'm thankful for my friends here:goodvibes
How's everyone doing?
Keep up the good work and hope you all
have a great weekend and a Happy Easter:grouphug:

Just got back from the gym. Twotoohappy I always have image issues so I can relate to what you said. No matter what I do, I am not good enough. I could have that "ripped" look and then I wouldn't be happy because my arms or chest wouldn't be big enough. It maybe a little different than what you are going through but they are the same feelings. By the way, congratulations on the size 4. That's awesome.

My workouts have been pretty strong this week. I did chest today and was able to bench 205 without a spot for a couple of reps. I have been doing a lot more ab work as well. With all of the cardio that I have been adding, I am hoping I can get some good definition and maybe some abs out of it. As far as the lifting goes, I am still having some physical issues that make me skeptical about going really heavy again. I am just happy that I can lift more than what I weigh again. My ulimate goal in that category is to be able to lift twice my bodyweight. Maybe one day. Also, I did another 18 miles on the bike which brings my total for the week to 103 miles. What is really cool is that in 7 weeks time, I have rode the bike for enough miles for me to have been able to go to WDW from my house.

Hope everyone is doing well and healthy. Look forward to hearing from all of you soon. Kerdad06It has been awhile. It was really good to have you come back. Congratulations on being so close to your goal. For everybody, those last few pounds are always the toughest. Just as a recommendation, do something to totally "SHOCK" your system. It may help you get past the stagnate place you are in right now.

Congrats on the small size!! :cool1:

I can relate to the body image thing too. I still look in the mirror and feel "fat", even though I've lost a lot of weight. Sometimes I think I look a lot better, and then the next time I think wow, my stomach still looks big, etc. I too wonder if/when that will ever change, and when the day will come when I think I look good. :cool2:

Keep up the great work! :yay:

Well tomorrow is Easter, which usually means candy and chocolate. I am going to tell you something that I usually would not. Go ahead and indulge and have some with the family. Just minimize what you take in. Remember to feed the temptation. Don't smother it. All will be fine.

I really do hope all of you have a great weekend and a Happy Easter

Just a quick update. I gave myself a long weekend from exercise. I have been averaging 6 days in the gym focusing alot on my cardio efforts. I had originally planned on going on Easter to get more time in and ramp up my numbers. But I thought better of it and decided to stay at home, spend time with the family and rest and recuperate. Since then, for Monday and Tuesday, I have been both days. Yesterday, I did biceps, abs and almost 2 hours on the bike. Today, I had a volunteer meeting that I had to go to after I got off work so I had a limited amount of time so all I did was cardio. Still though, in the last couple of days I have already compiled 55 miles. I still have 70 to go to make it to my goal for the week so it will be tough.

Twotoohappy Liz, for the last 2 weeks the DTD group has been the top 2 duo on our team. Way to go Liz! That is fantastic!!:woohoo: :cheer2:

Everyone else: I hope all is well. It has been quite around here for the last few days. I know everyone had to get back to work and things have been hectic. Just try to drop a line whenever you get the chance.

My goal is to lose 20 lbs before our trip. I am not sure how possible it is to do it, but I have put myself on 1200 calorie diet. We added the DDP to our trip and now I am wondering how hard it is going to be with the desserts. Does anyone know where you can find calorie information for food in WDW?

Thanks!

I'm going to join this thread. I hope it will help my lose weight. I've been trying since the new year began to lose weight. My goal was to fit into my skinny jeans (which are a size 8 and I'm anywhere from a 18 - 22). I decided that when I was around 135 pounds I'd reward myself with a trip to Walt Disney World. My goal should be reached by November of this year. That gave me 45 weeks to lose 66 pounds, give or take a few.

I started out at 201.8. My first weigh in for February I weighed in at 196; March was 190. At that point things were looking really good for me. But on my weekly weigh-ins this month, I have actually been putting on weight. Right now I stand at 191. With 33 weeks left, that leaves me with 56 pounds left to lose.

Of course this is all assuming I take my vacation in November, it can be pushed off as far as January (though I think the discounts that have been offered in the past for Nov/Dec time frame are better for me than those offered in January).

I don't have a problem staying within my calorie limit (I think it's between 1200 - 1500 a day), but I have such a hard time working out. I can start a work out and I get bored with it in a couple of sessions.

I would assume I'd lose some weight just on the fact that I'm eating less calories than my weight needs anyways and I'd lose a lot more if I worked out.

I really need some good support to help me get on track.:grouphug:

Welcome!
You may want to check out http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/calories-goal.php
because 1200 calories might not be enough to lose weight.
I'm down almost 100 pounds (looking for another 10) because of monitoring my calories
(adding and subtracting calories as weight/exercise changed)

Good luck and post often :)

Welcome BeckWhy!
Your plan looks doable so hopefully you'll be in WDW soon:thumbsup2
as far as workouts, switch it up often and that might work-
pilates, walking, biking, etc.

Please post what you are both doing for exercise/eating/etc.
and maybe we can give you some advice, or at least a lot of
support!

Happy Wednesday Everyone:goodvibes

Welcome Amyz00 and Beckwhy!!We are very excited to have you join our family here. You have already met Twotoohappy. You will find out that she is awesome. She has lots of knowledge that can help encourage and motivate you through anything.

Amy Just by doing some basic math to loose 20 pounds in the next 10 weeks will of course mean that you need to loose 2 pounds a week. This is not only very doable but the healthy way to do it. Be strong and diligent. Don't "pull the wool" over your eyes. If you can do that, I am very confident that you can achieve your goals.

Beck It is normal for people to get bored with their workouts because they think they have to do the same thing every time. I change mine up all of the time and I am in the gym 5 or 6 times a week. But it is also a mental game. I love going to the gym and see what I can lift. How far I can jog or ride or how many crunches I can do. I look at it as a "self competition". I always want to better myself. If you look back through the pages here you will see where I have had a history an issue with self-esteem. So I have always had a joke saying "From the neck down, I have a little say-so in how I look. From the neck up proves God has a sense of humor!" :rotfl: I say that knowing that I will never have the face or the body to be a model of any sort but I always want to know that I have given it my best to look the best that I can. Hope that makes sense.

Liz Your awesome!! Your advice was wonderful and I totally agree with everything that you say. The only thing I want to say is that I had no idea (or remembrance) of the fact that you had lost 100 pounds!:woohoo: :worship: That is incredible. But I won't go on and on and on because you already know how much I appreciate you and look up to your accomplishments. I just really think your great!

Brief Update I am having to go the gym late tonight. DW got a bit of food poisoning from something she ate yesterday so I am staying up with the kids until they go to bed. Then, I will go to the gym and get my workout. Good thing is that I am off tomorrow and I will be able to do 2 workouts tomorrow. I am looking forward to it.

Hope all is well with the rest. Look forward to hearing from you soon!

Thanks for the encouragement from both of you. I definately think it is doable if I exercise.

I follow SP guidelines (SparkPeople). They set up the calorie range and amount of calories burned a week.

I have tried mixing up my exercises, but I think because I have been doing this for so long, I've gotten so used to them all. I haven't tried TaeBo yet, but I have that on VHS and I don't have a VCR.

I have walked, which I used to do religiously. But I got bored with my neighborhood. I tried walking on a track, and even though I walked much faster than on the streets, it was very, very, very boring. I'm hoping when May rolls around and my friends come home from college, they'll walk with me. I know that helps so much. My mom also agreed to walk with me, except she is very out of shape and a smoker, so she can't walk fast or have the endurance to walk the long time I can. I'm gonna work her up there though! We have plans to make a couple visits to a local state park and go hiking on their big trails this summer though.

I also have done a lot of dancing. I love dancing because I can burn the same amount of calories in a half hour that I can in an hour of walking. I have several different types of dancing DVDs that I've done.

I just got a kickboxing DVD. This has been the best so far for me. It burns so many calories so fast!

I had started doing this and it was so fun... but on my third session... I was bored. I mean who gets bored after 3 sessions?

I have Windsor Pilates and yoga DVDs also.

I don't have trouble doing my strength training though.

One problem I know is it's not very mentally stimulating. And I think another problem is I'm constantly watching the time. I have to not watch the time. I think that will make whatever work out I'm doing go a lot better (probably why I walked for so long, because I knew where to walk to make an hour or so).

I've had a hard time getting support for working out. Most people say to me "oh you know what you need to do, you just need to do it" and that's all I get. And I know I'll look and feel better when I work out... but working out is like... going to the dentist for me.

All-in-all I'm pretty confident with myself and I have a great self-esteem.

Tonight I'll let you guys know how everything goes today.

Here's a pic when I was at my skinniest... 120 pounds in 2002.

Oh, it's been soooooo long since I've visited this forum! It's been great reading about how well everyone has done, but I've had some issues since summer. Yes, it's been that long! Have had some medical issues, and haven't been exercising regularly. Have only gained about 5- 7 pounds since summer though since I've been slacking. I'm pleasantly surprised to be honest. I think the reason it's been minimal is that I haven't gone back to the old way of eating, just not as careful as I was when I was losing weight. I'm most disappointed in how quickly the muscles have changed recently. I had surgery and am not able to do anything until I see the doctor next week. My plan is to begin walking slowly. I was up to 3.5 miles in about 40 minutes, but know I can't do that yet. I can't even stand up straight without my stomach hurting! (I had a partial hysterectomy so if anyone has had this too, please PM me. I have questions!) I know to take it slowly and to build back up, get back on board with the better eating and I'll get going. Considering I'm still down 45 pounds from where I was, I should be pleased. We have two trips coming up: 40th birthday cruise with just my DH, and a surprise Thanksgiving trip for the family. My goal is not to look great, but to be able to give the family trouble keeping up with my walking. I just want to be back to where I was conditioning wise. Any ideas on how long it takes to get the conditioning back?

Finally, thanks for all who've continued to post. They are sent to my email and I always look forward to reading how well everyone is doing. It's been a good motivation, even though I haven't been active. Living vicariously through all of you! Take care and I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Thanks for the encouragement! It really helps! Dieting is such a pain but I am only trying to think about the end results; not feeling so sluggish and tired and getting my energy back plus feeling healthy again.

My problem is my sweet tooth. It's apparently a family trait because my mother's side of the family consists of chocaholics, sugaraholics, and creamaholics! :scared1:

Liz: How long has it taken you to lose 100 pounds?
(it was just shy of 100 - but if I kept a count of all the pounds I've
lost and gained on yoyo diets then it would be double that lol)
but it took about a year or just a little over -
the last few pounds just won't budge
I did it by cutting out regular soda, and junk food
started walking, then jogging and just kept eating better.
I've kept it off for almost three years now.
I went from "dieting" to changing my lifestyle.

Welcome back Karen! You've been missed!!!!!
Feel better soon:goodvibes I've never had that done, but my
stomach pain was horrible after the c-section. Hope you get
better soon!

It's great to hear about your vacations.
You must be so excited for your upcoming trips:banana:

Hey Bryan! Hope your DW is feeling better!
You're doing such an awesome job for both the DFD team
as well as the triple D's! Keep up the good work! How's the
bench pressing going? What's your goal weight and how close
are you? Eeeek, gotta post my miles:scared1:

Have a good night everyone!:hippie:
