Dieting for Disney

Back from the gym and I am worn out. I probably overdid it a little bit but it feels good to know what I can do, if I try. I went in while the race was on and even thought I am not a big Nascar fan, I can watch it every once in a while. Well, while that was on so was Fast and the Furious. So I sat down on my bike and just started peddling. Before I knew it, I had been on that thing for an hour and had done 16 miles. Then, I transferred over to the elliptical and finished out the race and did another 4 miles. After that, I got up, changed shirts and worked out my arms for an hour. Then, I went back to the bike and did another 12 miles. By the time it was all said and done, I had done 2 hours and 15 minutes worth of cardio and an hour long workout session. It really did feel good while I was doing it. But when I got home, I could barely walk. I guess that's the price we pay when we are trying to "Go for the Gold".

Hey! I just had a thought. This year is the Summer Olympics. We should try to come up with a way to let that be a motivational factor for us in our daily workouts. I know we may not be sprinters or gymnasts or basketball players. That's all fine. But let's look at the Olympic Spirit. It may not always be about being the best at something but to do the best that we can do. So let us look at these athletes, the creme of the crop if you will, and use them as motivation to help improve ourselves to a position that we have never been before.

How does that sound? Any takers?:cheer2: :cheer2: :grouphug:

Sounds good to me... The In Search of My Body Board (the one I post to most) and DISappearing Peeps board are in a competition to see which board can lose more weight each month. The losers are buying state magnets for the winners... its picked by the top 5 losers each week. Come join us if you'd like :) but join the Body Board not the peeps lol! :)

Thanks for everybody being so nice and welcoming me to this thread!!:cool1: I can just feel the love here....

Good news: I am getting stronger in my Water Aerobics class and now I can get myself out of the pool with no help and I am able to add 5 min to my workout every week.:woohoo: I am even noticing that my once very tight swimsuit is starting to loosen up a little. (If I didn't mention I am a very big woman--over 350lbs. I don't know exact because my doctor's scale does not go higher)

Good News: Very good with my new eating habits for now 4 weeks! I took o quick sip of DH soda and had to almost spit it out. (To think I loved soda):rotfl2: Also, only treated myself to small scoop of ice cream for dessert twice in 4 weeks. Indulged on chocolate cake once. (Not bad for my major sweet tooth)

Bad News: I started last week (week 5) ok but started to get very frustrated by mid week and even now (sunday) I am just hitting a wall. I want to do this!! I do not want to go back to my old self. :sad2: I opened a new thread to get some ideas on how to break through because I do not know what to do....

It is not unusual for me to go and just give up. I have committed and recommitted many times but I do not want to allow myself to back to that. I cannot, I will not do that to my DH! (I want to be with him for a very long time)

Any ideas?? Please respond to my other thread! I just need a virtual hug or something.

Good job on everyone's hard work. I am very proud of everyone!

Just keep moving forward... I had a discussion about this on another board... It may seem tough now but look how great the future is going to be if you do this. So what if you gain a lb here or there or if you slow down. All you can do is keep moving forward. If we live in our past failures we are only going to be as good as that moment. Why not set yourself up to win rather than setting yourself up to fail. Keep at it! It sounds like you are doing well! Also, are you drinking a lot of water? That is a big thing for me. Also maybe try changing up your workout a bit. If you are able to maybe swim laps instead of aerobics... Not super fast ones but something to change it up. If you ever need anything feel free to ask me!

Hope everyone is doing well! I'm almost out of my 220s!! 32.2 lbs lost since January 3rd!! I got the Biggest Loser Cardio Max and Power Sculpt dvds... I did the warm up and the first 10 minutes of Cardio max and felt like I would die! Then I did the cool down and felt even worse LOL! I am going to try to progressively do more and more. I hope everyone is doing well. Keep Moving Forward!

Have a magical day!
Sarah

Oh this thread is perfect for me if you guys don't mind if I join, of course! I am hoping to spend Christmas in WDW this year, and it would be absolutely perfect to be a much smaller person on this trip! I'm down 25 lbs. so far this year. After much soul searching and a year of research, I had lapband surgery on 2/27....such a scary step. I'm praying I did the right thing and that this is the answer to my yo-yo dieting nightmare. I have quite a few to loose (sadly, more than100), but the 25 lbs. loss (thanks to low carb since Jan. and the liquid post op diet - yuck!) is a great start!

Allykat - Welcome to our family. Of course you can join us. First of all, let me say that your 25 pound weight loss so far is fantastic. That is a wonderful accomplishment. Second, please let us know if we can do anything to help you with. Plus, let us know what kind of dieting and exercise you have been following so we may give some tips that way also. Anyway, welcome aboard.

Twotoohappy More miles! More miles! What am I? A mileage machine??? I just don't know if I can handle more.....:confused3 :scared1: Just kidding. I hav already got 32 miles over the weekend and I am getting ready to head to the gym in just a few minutes to get at least 15-20 more miles. But since you want me to get more, I will try to get 30 (if time permits). Anyway, I will try to make you as proud as I can.

Bryan

Thanks to everyone that has been so nice and written in responce to what I said.

The good thing is that I woke up today and kept moving forward toward my goal.:yay: It is so encouraging to read about you guys and I hope that I can stay here and keep feeling those things. (And I hope in some way to be a hope to someone else):woohoo:

Also, welcome to the new person. We can do it!! Congratulations on your progress so far. I am going to WDW right after Christmas and staying through the new year, so I understand waiting to do better for then.:santa:

Ok, everyone I will see you all soon. Thanks again for all the encouragement.

Right now I am on soft and mushy foods from my lapband surgery. I cannot wait to have food I can actually chew...lol. Once I'm on regular foods, I'll be going back to low carb. I did the low carb thing about 8 years ago and lost 70 lbs. (found it again!) so I know that works for me.

I have managed to start exercising again! Walked 2 miles tonight and 2 miles Saturday. Wow, this may become a habit!:goodvibes

What a wonderful group! We're all here for each other whether it be for advice, a laugh, or a shoulder to lean on. I love hearing everyone supporting one another. We can do it and deserve it!!!!!!!!

Lots of company going on these last few days so food hasn't been good. Exercise has though, so I haven't given in completely. Tomorrow's a new day!

Best wishes everyone!!

Evita and Allykat That is great news. Taking it one day at a time, one stride at a time is awesome. I mean seriously, that's all it is. Do what you can for the first week and then next week do a little more. Then a little more. Before you know it you will be blowing by all limits that you ever put on yourself. I would also make a suggestion and get you some light dumbbells at your local Wal-Mart or some place so you can work some upper body. With the light weight, you will be doing toning, not building muscle. Just remember, muscle weighs more but also burns more than fat. I say that so you want let the scale run your life but go by how you feel. Look forward to hearing about all of you success.

CJK I miss my Sister when you are not able to post for a while. Makes me feel like you are on another trip. Are you on another one?:worship: I am so jealous because as it stands right now, I don't think we are going to be able to go anywhere this year. We have a LARGE hospital bill that we have to pay so it is really putting a strain on the ol' budget. I am encouraged though that even with everything that is going on with you right now, you are still making the effort to get a workout in. Way to go! :cheer2: Hopefully, things will slow down for you a little not just for healthier eating but more importantly, less stress. Take care of yourself!

Update I have done too much talking already so I will try to make this short. I am realizing that I have to be some kind of a fool or a dedicated nut. I got back from the gym a little while ago after another 3 hour workout. I don't know if I am obsessed or Manic Compulsive. Am I doing this to help my team or for me and my health? I am getting a little confused. I will say that I am very encouraged by all of you and what I am reading. YOU GUYS ARE WINNERS!!:cheer2: :yay: :woohoo: Don't let anyone ever tell you anything less. You rock!

Take care!

lol, I think we're related!
Great minds obsess together:thumbsup2

I don't think it's why you're getting healthy is as important
as the final product of being healthier!:goodvibes

Have a great day everyone! I'm off to work, the dentist:scared1: , and then.....
you guessed it ~
The Gym...:darth:

LOL! You're becoming a gym rat!! LOL! I did 60 minutes of cardio last night which is the most I've ever done! 45 on the elliptical and 15 on the bike!! I'm a tad sore today.

Have a magical day!

Still not released by my doctor since surgery to work with weights yet, but that will be coming just as soon as he cuts me loose. I have started walking for the time being....did 2 miles Saturday and another 2 miles yesterday. I plan to walk while my daughter finishes up at cheerleading practice today as well. To me, that is progress - exercise is actually part of the plan now!

You are being active in some way, that is awesome!!! Keep up the great work!!! :dance3:

Friends, Teammates, Countrymen: Lend me your ears. (Sorry! Just a small flashback to Caeser but I have always wanted to do that.) I will be brief for I didn't get much sleep last night and I am very tired.

I will start out by giving all of you the dreaded updated news that today is my birthday. :scared1: Yep! Another year older. Ok. Now, how did I spend it. I went to work and we were terribly slow so I left early and did another 3 hours at the gym. Everyone was telling me to take the night off and spend it with my family. Do this. Do that. Well, my thought was that it is my birthday so let me spend it the way I want too. I wanted to go to the gym so I did. Since I had time, I was able to do another 32 miles worth of cardio and about 45 minutes worth of shoulder work. All this was on just a couple of hours of sleep. So with that being said, I am going to go ahead and get off here so I can try to get some rest tonight. That way I can come back tomorrow refreshed and hopefully able to excourage someone that may need it.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!!

Bryan

Happy Birthday Bubba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:  :cheer2: What a WONDERFUL birthday gift you've given to yourself - the gift of a healthy body. There's no stopping you now!

Took a little nap so I am refreshed. Bad timing as it is time to go to bed but I am wide awake.:confused3 Just remembered a story of something that happened today.

I had a customer come in to see me pretty early this morning. I have been working on a transcript for her son to get into college. He is wanting to go to Alabama to play tennis. During the conversation, she told me that both her and her husband were graduates of that school and they were excited about their son attending. Well, this was the first time that her husband's name had been mentioned at any point that I have been working with her. At which point, I asked her if he use to be the quarterback for the football team there to which she replied "Yes!'. It kind of shocked her that someone would remember him since it has been about 20 years since he graduated.

I say all of that to tell you this. This lady was very petite but, like always, I started talking about you girls and guys here and what we do for each other. She was telling me how she would really like to tone up but didn't know what to do. So, I made a couple of suggestions of stuff she could do at home. She got real excited. I also told her about the competition thread that I am involved with right now and she made the comment that she could tell that I had lost weight since the last time she had come in. Then, she told me that she was going to come back in about 3 months to let me see her changes and also for her to see mine. It was an amazing 10 - 15 minutes of conversation for me. I love feeling like I have helped or motivated someone. As I said earlier, it may be my birthday but that is what really made my day.

Just had to share. Have a great night!!!

Hi everyone and thanks for all the inspiration. I have decided to not spend so much time on the boards. I need to devote more time to God, my family and working out. I just hired a personal trainer at the YMCA and will be very busy with that and my 2 jobs as well. I don't see where I can fit in spending as much time as I have been spending here and other threads. I hope everyone loses a ton and keep up all the great work. :cheer2: God bless you all.

Bluesdad Hate to loose you but may God Bless you in your endeavors. May He keep you protectedand covered. Be safe.

CJKThank you for the wishes. I paid for what I did yesterday today. I couldn't get a good nights sleep so I was very lethargic at work. When I left, I headed to the gym. I was so tired by the time I got there that I almost fell asleep in the car. I finally got out and did another hour of cardio. It was tough but I made myself do it. I didn't really have the energy to do any lifting so I came on home to spend some time with the kids. But I did get another 13 miles in today. How was your day? Hopefully all is well with you.

Team Tomorrow is Friday. Have we had a good week this week or did we suffer letdowns? I know we all have our setbacks bu tthe question is how did we deal with those setbacks? I have a lot of faith in all of you and your ability. I know you will all be strong for your determination to succeed is greater than any temptation that is put in front of you. Get out there and make yourself proud!

I will talk to you more soon!

Bryan:cheer2: :grouphug:

****TOOT....TOOT****

Ok, I think I am just in a good mood for this week. As you guys all know last week not so good and I was wondering if this week had more of the same coming.:sad2:

But happy day...I HAD A WONDERFUL WEEK!:cool1: I woke up on Monday energized by everybody's good thoughts and decided to continue on my quest. How grateful I am for all of you and your kind words. They really help me.

I went to my water Aerobic class three times this week and worked out for 50 whole minutes each time. (Even when my teacher missed a class I still got in and did my workout!) I am hoping next week I can move up to 55 or 60 minutes. We will see.:cheer2:

I am also excited because I went shopping for some new clothes. (Not because my old ones do not fit, I just needed new ones) But, hen I tried them on I found that they were loose on me. Not enough to get the smaller size but I am getting closer to it. I would have waited but I still need them. I actually liked my reflection tonight. I could not believe this transformation that is happening!

I can't wait till I go to WDW this Christmas and New Year's! Who knows what I will look like then.

Well, I think that is all I have. THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone here. I cannot do it without you. Even though I know I have 100 plus pounds to lose I see the light at the end. It is a mere twinkle, but i do see it! :grouphug:

Everyone keep it up! We can do it!:flower3:

Also, Bubba....HAPPY BDAY THIS WEEK!! I hope it was fun.:yay:

EvitaThat is fantastic news. :woohoo: :yay:  :cheer2: I knew you were having a difficult time and started having the the very familiar feeling, "What's the point?" The problem is that the world has gotten us on an instant gratification kick and that isn't real. It takes time but it is well worth it. I am very happy for you!:grouphug:

Update I had an amazing time at the gym last night for several reasons. I will try to keep this short but if I don't, forgive me. First, I was at the gym for 4 hours:eek: . I started off by getting a solid triceps workout in for about 25 minutes and then off to the bike. I did 65 minutes on the bike for 18 miles. Then, I stepped outside for a little bit, changed shirts and relaxed for about 15 minutes. When I went back in, I started to do my biceps but was too tired to do it justice so I started doing some core work and stretches. While I was doing that, I talked with one of the new faces that I was seeing in the gym. Next thing I know, we spent about 20-30 minutes in a counseling session for her. Then, she had questions about all the whats, wheres and hows of the gym so I spent about an hour walking with her and training her. Then, I got back on the bike for another 40 minutes and did another 12 miles. So I had totals of 30 miles for the day and 150 miles for the week but the best part of the day was the joy of helping the woman that I met at the gym. She has had some very disturbing things happen in the last year so I was able to help with her training but I was also able to be an ear for her to talk too. What a great day!!
