Dieting for Disney

:welcome: Welcome Evita_W and KERdad06
It's great to get new people in here. Post often!

Hey All!

Everyone's doing great around here! I can't believe how
fast this thread's moving:thumbsup2

Bubba - nice work on the gym! You're a great asset to the team!

CJK - Stay good on the weekdays and then it's ok to cheat a bit on the weekends :goodvibes

MunkyMe13- I'm sure you'll make that extra .8 for your goal! Keep up the good work and love high spirits! Motivation is key!

Bluesdad - How's it going?

about me..... the CT scan came back with no big issue,
just sinusitis and some other annoying stuff, but no "bad" stuff!
I'm doing well at the gym, eating pretty good and hoping to put
up some good mileage tomorrow!
Keep up the good work everyone; I'm exhausted and going to sleep:hug:

Thanks!! I did make my goal!!! I'm .2 over it in fact!!! Tomorrow I'm going to Disneyland!!!!

Morning all!

Hope everyone's having a great day so far. I've come down with a bit of a cold, but I'm still hoping to do a squat/weights routine in a little while.

twotoohappy - GREAT news about the CT scan. It must be a relief for you. Hope you feel better fast. Congrats on keeping up with your exercise and healthy eating! :thumbsup2

Evita_W - Great eating plan! Eating smaller meals more often seems to be one of the best ways to live. Thanks for the inspiring words. Cograts on giving up soda too. I'm still working on my diet soda addiction!

MunkyMe - How's your week going?

bubba - Congrats on getting that workout in on a day where you didn't think you would. It's precisely your story that is encouraging me to do a light workout today even when I'm not feeling well. Thank you oh fearless leader!

Hope everyone's having a great week!

The week started slow but I did finally hit my monthly goal of 10 lbs so I am pretty stoked!!

I hope everyone had a great week!! I'm off to DL for the weekend! Trip report hopefully when I get back!!

I am sooo excited about all of the activity here again. To steal a phrase from "The Biggest Loser": Peoples lives are being changed!! This is fantastic. I wish I had the time to give every one of you a high 5 for your accomplishments but I only have a few minutes before I have to head into work. (I am working the night shift to help out one of my employees.)

Here is a quick update. I had set a goal of getting in 100 miles worth of cardio and I failed. I did get up to 90 but I didn't reach that magical number. There were a couple of nights I just didn't have enough time to really do what I would like to have done. I still went and that in itself is good. I also haven't missed a day at the gym in over 2 weeks. I am getting back into the best shape of my life and I have a birthday coming up in just a couple of weeks. Know what's scary? On that day, I am going to go to work and then go workout just like any other day!

Hope everyone is having a fantastic week!!:woohoo: :yay: I am so proud of your successes. Let's keep it up and be the very best that we can be!

Bryan

Hello Everyone!

It sounds like everyone is doing pretty well! Congrats to you guys who have hit your goals this week. And for anyone that didn't make your personal goal, just remember that is why it is a goal, it is a stretch, and you may not reach it every time. Just keep doing your best, that's what matters! :thumbsup2

I've had a pretty good week, although I have not lost anymore weight. I still have those darn 15 more pounds to lose until I hit my target. But, I have still been walking 20 minutes in the morning and 30 or more minutes after work on most days of the week. The other day I walked 50 minutes in the morning, and 45 minutes after work. I also ate pretty well this week, we even tried a couple new low fat recipes, so we keep things interesting and don't get bored with the same old chicken. But I have to admit, we ordered pizza tonight, and I ate more than I probably should have. :scared:

Have a great weekend! :)

A quick note on The Biggest Loser. We also love this show, my whole family. We watch it every Tuesday, and DW, the kids and myself all get VERY motivated by the show. :3dglasses Even if I've done my exercise for the day, I sometimes take another walk after the show because I am so motivated.

Just thought I'd throw that in here.

Sorry all, I've been sick and working my 2 jobs, not a good combo. :crazy2: :faint:

CJK- Thanks and actually my wife and I are dropping the Biggest Loser Club due to the price and they didn't send us all of our free books. (we had to keep calling them) We both have now joined "spark people" which has the same menu options and the pages are easier to manage and best of all IT'S FREE!!! anyway, thanks for the encouragement.

Evita- Welcome to the group! :thumbsup2 :welcome: I hope you get motivated here and find plenty of friends.

Twotoohappy- I've been sick and working 2 jobs :faint: other than that I'm peachy keen! LOL! So I saw your awesome race pics. Very nice job there :cool1: I am so happy your CT turned out ok, other than the minor stuff. I hope they can find out what is going on though. Sometimes it's worse not knowing huh?

Well, my DW and I just joined the YMCA. They have a huge facility in our town and it has a ton of machines, a pool, an indoor tennis court , a raquet ball court, saunas, steam rooms and personal trainers. Gonna be getting me one of them PTs ya know:woohoo: I haven't lost really anything just 1 lb. Blah! but hey a loss is a loss. Well g2g at work now...:surfweb: thanks for all the motivation

:woohoo: Look at all of these posts with so much wonderful news and success.
Bluesdad I am very sorry that you have been under the weather lately. You are right. That and 2 jobs does not make for a healthy combination. Speaking of which, I have to give you an additional :woohoo: :yay: . For you to have the determination, enthusiasm and desire to do what you have been doing while working 2 jobs, that's inspiring!!!:cheer2: I have had the 2 job thing in the past and probably should be doing it again right now but I could never imagine doing that and find time to workout. I barely have time for quality rest and sleep now. WOW!

Twotoohappy I think I must have missed where you had posted about having a CT scan and even some concerns. I am very sorry for missing that. It is a relief to here that there was nothing major. The minor stuff can be nerve racking enough. Please feel free to PM me if you need anything. Hang in there! You are such a trooper!:cheer2:

Kerdad06 Pizza is a weakness of mine. So is chocolate, ice cream and lots of other stuff that I don't need to eat. But what is important is trying to find a way to be able to enjoy your temptations without so much of the guilt. What we have found is a Lean Cuisine Pizza (full size) that taste pretty good. It is lower in all of the bad stuff compared to regular pizzas. Try that and see if it will help with those feelings.

I know there is more to say but I am about to pass out from my day. I had to work today which was a real downer. I am not supposed to work on the weekends ever but I did today. But it did have a good ending. After I got off work, I went to the gym and did some cardio. I didn't have time to lift so I will get in extra time tomorrow. I took yesterday off just because my body was so tired. It did me good to do that. I am a little behind where I would like to be on my cardio mileage now for the week but I have a lot of time to catch back up. And with all of the motivation that this team gives, I am sure that will be no problem.

Talk to you VERY soon!
Let's make this a fantastic week for the DFD squad!
:cheer2: :cheer2: GO TEAM GO!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

KERdad06 It sounds like you have a very successful plan going (obviously by what you have been able to do) but I do have one question. Are you taking any kind of vitamins? This is very important for overall health, if you are not.

Hey Bryan-

Quick question for you. I thought of this question you had asked. I was walking on the treadmill tonight reading "The Biggest Loser" book. It also mentioned vitamins, and said they help to use protien, carbs and fat.

What types of vitamins are recommended for this? I guess I never realized the importance of taking vitamins. Maybe this is something that could help me hit the last pounds to get to my goal.

By the way, I only lost another half pound since last weekend, but that puts me at 14.5 pounds until I hit my goal. My true goal is to get there by June 1st. I am working as hard as I can to get there!!! :woohoo:

Have a great week everyone! :)

Back from DL!!! Great trip... Ate too much tho... Will post more in the am! Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Congratulations to everyone for all their successess whether it's losing weight, exercising consistently or making healthier choices. We're all on fire!! Well, you guys more than me! I did cheat this weekend, but not as bad as last weekend so that's progress. As usual, I'm back on track today and already ran 5km.

I don't have time to respond to each post individually, but I am proud of everyone! I'm going to have to check out spark people. I signed up a few months ago, but I never took the time to actually use it.

Have a healthy week everyone!

Hey everyone! How exciting it is to come on here and see so much activity, encouragement and extreme motivation. Everytime I come on here, no matter what kind of day that I have had, I always get a lift in my spirits. You guys are amazing.

MunkyMe13 Good to have you back! I have only been to DL once but I really enjoyed it. Believe it or not, there was a lot that I didn't get to see or do. Having gone to WDW has many times as I have, I figured I wouldn't need a map to find my way around. I was WRONG! I missed a lot of the park. So needless to say, I am "itching" to get back out there. This time, I would like to be able to take my DW and kids.

CJK Congratulations on the 5km run. I am looking at doing a 5k race for the first time to benefit Breast Cancer research. I am not sure if I can do it. I mean, I can handle riding an exercise bike or getting on the elliptical all day long. It's no impact. Pounding the pavement actually scares me with my knees. I still want to do it but I am a little worried.

On the other hand, I have had a couple of great days at the gym. I think I may have done too much on the bike tonight aswhen I got home, my legs were screaming at me. Actually, they still are. I have been massaging them a lot but they are still hurting. I may have to limit my cardio tomorrow. I will still do my workout but I may not be able to run any. We'll see how my body feels and I will follow what it tells me.

Be back tomorrow! Hope we are all having a GREAT '08!!! :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2: :cool1:

Everyone is doing GREAT!
Keep up the good work!

It is so great to see how well everyone is doing.
We all know that we will have setbacks, but the goal is to
have these setbacks, suck it up and get back on track.
I'm a huge carb lover, but I save my cheats for one day, and then
run in the morning and later that day so I don't feel too bad.

I've been doing biking, running and love my Jillian workout tape!
My hours haven't been great this week because I have 2 huge
teacher's tests on Saturday (7:30am - 5pm:scared1: ) and I
have to prepare for them.

Bubba - Keep up the big miles because after Saturday, I'll be nipping
at your heals:thumbsup2 I hope Big Vic lets us keep Z's totals for Feb.
because that would put DDD's in 2nd place:dance3:

Happy Day everyone!

How is my team doing? Now that I have everyone's attention, we can talk. I know I can get a little over excited but I have had a really good week this week. I have been working a lot more than I am supposed too but that's ok. I have been number 1 in sales for my entire district all this week. I am happy about that. Plus, I have not been letting work interupt my training. I have been everyday for the last 3 weeks. (This is what happens when I get into a competition.) This week, I have worked out on my arms, abs and legs but even more than that, I have already done more than 80 miles worth or cardio. So it has been a good week for me so far.

Twotoohappy Liz, it is great to hear from you. I was starting to think that you were MIA. I was about to PM you to make sure that you were ok. It sounds like you have had a couple of setbacks this week in order to get ready for your tests. Here is some pixiedust: for good luck. Here is some :cheer2: for you to compete with me on my miles. I love the competition. I have to tell you that I have a goal to finish in the top 5 of all of the competitors once this thing is done. Not just for our team. I mean all 8 teams. You had said in an earlier post that you knew had picked a good teammate. Can you tell I can get a little obsessed with really doing well? Come along for the ride.

Otherwise, how is everyone elses week going? Kerdad I hope I didn't overload you with all of the info that I gave you the other day but please let me know if you found it useful. Also, let me know if you have any more questions.

Hope all of you are having a great week and I look forward to reading a lot of success stories from you soon.:cheer2:

I wanted to share some good news I got today!

The company I work for had a weight loss challenge. It was a 7 week challenge to see who could lose the most weight. The top team, along with the top 2 men and top 2 women that lost the most weight would win a $50 gas card. There were about 240 employees that participated (although I am not sure the ratio of people on teams, or the true number of men versus women that signed up, wish I knew that too).

Anyway, I found out today that I had the second highest amount of weight loss for the men, at 6.93% for the seven weeks. I figured it out, and so far I've lost 22% since last April.

I was pretty happy to be one of the winners, especially since I have put so much work into the past year.

I had to share my excitement! :cool1:

That is fantastic news! Way to go KERdad06! :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2: :woohoo: It is nice to be rewarded for all of your hard work and effort every once in a while. Congratulations!

Hey Bubba, I am getting burned out a bit from all the work. I know that it will end in April though. I am only doing full time basically at the other job due to a co-worker's illness. Then I'll probably only work a few extra days a pay period. I have to admit that I haven't had a lot of time to work out or sleep. I signed my family up at the local YMCA though and have a session with a trainer set for next week. Gee I hope she's like Jill on TBL! :yay: Thanks for the encouraging words. You keep up the awesome job yourself.:woohoo:

KERdad06-:cheer2: congrats on winning:cheer2:

Bluesdad - :scared1: Jillian:scared1: lol she's my fav too!
Here's hoping you get a great trainer! I picked my trainer by going
in and asking who's the toughest female, I didn't want a male because
....I may get flamed here.....but a guy can be more easily manipulated
than a woman with a woman (ex. just tell a guy you have cramps and he
won't know what to do:rotfl2: ) umm, not that that would work for you.
My trainer Steph's the best! I worked out with her at first a lot, but
now she's trained me well enough to maintain myself.

hey Bubby....Bring it on!:woohoo:
Your mileage is great! You've got your work cut out for you to be in
the top 4 with those triathlon people beginning their seasons, but I know
you'll give them a run for it! Definitely get in some races for those X2 mileage! thanks for the well wishes for my tests tomorrow:goodvibes

How's everyone else doing?

Well I could tell her I have cramps but she may just tell me to go to the bathroom before she works my butt off!:lmao: And hey! I'm one of those guys and I can't be easily manipulated..oh hang on my wife is calling..brb...ok back :worship: :hippie:

Back from the gym and I am worn out. I probably overdid it a little bit but it feels good to know what I can do, if I try. I went in while the race was on and even thought I am not a big Nascar fan, I can watch it every once in a while. Well, while that was on so was Fast and the Furious. So I sat down on my bike and just started peddling. Before I knew it, I had been on that thing for an hour and had done 16 miles. Then, I transferred over to the elliptical and finished out the race and did another 4 miles. After that, I got up, changed shirts and worked out my arms for an hour. Then, I went back to the bike and did another 12 miles. By the time it was all said and done, I had done 2 hours and 15 minutes worth of cardio and an hour long workout session. It really did feel good while I was doing it. But when I got home, I could barely walk. I guess that's the price we pay when we are trying to "Go for the Gold".

Hey! I just had a thought. This year is the Summer Olympics. We should try to come up with a way to let that be a motivational factor for us in our daily workouts. I know we may not be sprinters or gymnasts or basketball players. That's all fine. But let's look at the Olympic Spirit. It may not always be about being the best at something but to do the best that we can do. So let us look at these athletes, the creme of the crop if you will, and use them as motivation to help improve ourselves to a position that we have never been before.

How does that sound? Any takers?:cheer2: :cheer2: :grouphug:

Thanks for everybody being so nice and welcoming me to this thread!!:cool1: I can just feel the love here....

Good news: I am getting stronger in my Water Aerobics class and now I can get myself out of the pool with no help and I am able to add 5 min to my workout every week.:woohoo: I am even noticing that my once very tight swimsuit is starting to loosen up a little. (If I didn't mention I am a very big woman--over 350lbs. I don't know exact because my doctor's scale does not go higher)

Good News: Very good with my new eating habits for now 4 weeks! I took o quick sip of DH soda and had to almost spit it out. (To think I loved soda):rotfl2: Also, only treated myself to small scoop of ice cream for dessert twice in 4 weeks. Indulged on chocolate cake once. (Not bad for my major sweet tooth)

Bad News: I started last week (week 5) ok but started to get very frustrated by mid week and even now (sunday) I am just hitting a wall. I want to do this!! I do not want to go back to my old self. :sad2: I opened a new thread to get some ideas on how to break through because I do not know what to do....

It is not unusual for me to go and just give up. I have committed and recommitted many times but I do not want to allow myself to back to that. I cannot, I will not do that to my DH! (I want to be with him for a very long time)

Any ideas?? Please respond to my other thread! I just need a virtual hug or something.

Good job on everyone's hard work. I am very proud of everyone!
