When I conveyed my desperation to lose enough weight to donate part of my liver to my mom, (ugh, this is still so hard to type) my doctor carefully and painstakingly went over my whole medical history with me and finally ended up asking me if I'd like to try a prescription. I did, only for two months, and it *did* work to speed up the weight loss (I just wasn't hungry, never cared if I ever ate again, more than anything). However, I also accompanied the medicine with a change in my lifestyle; the way I eat, the amount I eat, and the amount and type of exercise I get are now radically different, and I couldn't be happier. Actually, I'd be a LOT happier if I'd been able to donate part of my liver and my mom would be alive today, but sadly that didn't work out. I've had lots of people tell me to keep going because that's what mom would want, so that's what I'm doing.
No pill is going to cause you to lose weight and keep it off and allow you to be healthy if that's all you do. And, I would never EVER take any kind of weight loss without the approval of my doctor. I'm very paranoid as it is; it took me a week to get up the nerve to actually take the stuff my doctor gave me!
