Didn't know there was a FastPass+ limit for AP holders...suggestions?

I was totally unaware of the limit of 7 days of FastPass+ within a 30 day window for AP holders. :guilty: We're going to be there from June 17th to July 3rd...so I've been hitting MDE each morning right at 7am. Found out the hard way this morning about that limit. Grrrrr..... That's going to leave us with 10 days of no FP+. Major bummer. I presume once we get there and use up all of our FP on June 17th, then we can grab more FP, but it'll only be a week in advance, and not much will be left.

I feel like a dope for not knowing. Every other long trip we've done has been on a 10 day ticket, so we've never had an issue. We were there last summer for a long time, but converted our 10 day ticket to an AP. While being AP holders over the past 11 months, all of our trips have been 3-5 days in length, so we never even had cause to think of it...until now.

Besides being there for rope drop, any suggestions?

I presume you're staying off-site since and on-site rezzie would open up your options.
I think I would book FPs on days where parks are more crowded (weekends? closer to July 4?) and in parks with must-see and longest-SB-line attractions, rather than putting them all at the front of your trip. And, yes, to the RD plan! You've been repeatedly, so when you get over the shock and disappointment (been there / done that) you will know how to put together an excellent trip.

Yeah, that's exactly it. A bit of shock, a bit of disappointment, a lot of frustration with myself for not knowing, and also thinking it's a ridiculous rule. We certainly do know our way around and know what's busy, what's not and when. It's just sending us "back to the drawing board" to start over. We spent several hours mapping out a daily plan, so we could hit all the FP+ we wanted to do...not realizing this was a rule.

Yes, we stay off property.

So, the thought swirling around my head is...do we cancel some of the early FP reservations, then use them at the back end of the trip (near the 4th of July)? If we do that, that'll help with the later part of our trip. But it'll force us to go without any possibility of FP for the early part. Hope that makes sense... i.e. If we did FP for June 17th, then the other 6 days from June 28th to July 3rd, we couldn't book any FP for June 18th until we used up June 17th...which is the day before. So a positive of backloading FP would be guarantees for the end of the trip, but a negative is we'd be very limited in booking more FP early on.

On the other hand, if we book all our FP early like we did, from June 17th through the 23rd, we could then get FP for June 24th after we use up June 17th. So that'll give us 7 days advance for FP.

Would there be much left 7 days in advance? I'm guessing no.

I didn't know about this rule either, but we have stayed onsite.
Sorry, that stinks.

I would probably front load my FP+ unless there was something very particular I wanted to do June 28th to July 3rd (Although I might take a one or two day break in there to rest or do something else in the Orlando area)
We actually found FP+ not too bad to change even while on vacation barring Soarin', A&E meet and greet (which you won't have FP+ for by then anyhow), 7DMT, and TSMM (opening a new track might make this a good rope drop ride, though, and we were able to rope drop it last year)...obviously FEA will be a concern by the time you go.
ETA: But I am no expert!

Just found this out myself this week. According to the CM I spoke with, it does not matter if you are staying on site or not. AP holders can only have 7 days worth of FP at one time. AP holders should NOT be at a dis advantage when it comes to booking FP, but obviously they are

I think that CM was wrong. I am currently holding 8 days worth of FP+ for our June vacation (on-site AP)

Yeah, I was under the impression that you can do length of stay FP+'s if you're staying onsite. That would override the AP rules.

I'm not sure I like the idea of scattering your FP days. I think I'd schedule the first 7 days that you can upfront, but be sure to hit your "must do" E ticket attractions in that time period, then schedule the additional days onsite when you can. My experience doing that, even during busy periods, is that you can book most of what you want...possible exceptions being things like 7DMT, TSM and maybe some of the popular meet and greets (A & E)...and we'll have to see what impact Frozen and Soarin have on Epcot this summer.

I agree - the CM is incorrect. I am also currently holding 8 days worth of FPs and have had as many as 10 days at one time.

What's most frustrating to me is that not knowing those rules, I had a FP for 7DMT, but we decided to cancel it and do something else, because we have 2 or 3 other late nights in MK planned and I thought I'd be able to grab FP for those 30 days out. Now I can't and we're stuck. Ugh. But at least we have TSM and Soarin already booked.

What a BUMMER!!!! I didn't know that either. My window opened up today. I will be there for 14 days.

Since I first posted, whenever I get a spare minute at work, I've been playing around with the MDE app on my phone to see if I can rearrange some of the FP+ I had already scheduled. As I said earlier, our very first day is June 17th and I had passed up on 7DMT because I thought I'd FP+ it later in the trip (i.e. pick a FP+ later this week for June 26th or 27th). But thankfully I was able to swap out one of my existing FP+ on the 17th for 7DMT. And it's at a reasonable hour...9:30pm. There was actually a time slot of around 4pm available, but I'm working from our condo that day until 4pm. So I'm somewhat optimistic we'll be able to make it work. It's just going to take a lot of use of the MDE app and hunting for FP+ slots that open up when others drop them.

HHmmm...when we went in December we started a 15 day trip with 10 day hoppers. So I made the FP+ at my 60 days for the last ten days. When we arrived we upgraded to Annual Passes and at that time I booked FP+ for our first 5 days. So we actually had 15 days of FP+ at one time???

You also had an onsite stay and with your AP, you can book FPs for the length of an onsite stay. The OP, Klayfish is staying offsite.
