And if so...what part of the month and where are you from?

I know where you hail from plays a big role in how warm you think FL is in the winter. Just trying to decide if it's worth schlepping the swim diapers or not.

We are from NJ and we were there the first 10 days in December 2006. We swam 1 day but the weather was very strange last year down in FLA. The last two days of our vacation was actually colder down there than back home in NJ. December of 2005 we swam almost every day. It's hard to say. I would bring the swim diapers just in case.

I went last year from Dec. 4-8, and considered one day a swim day and one day marginal...good for the pool area, but not so much for the actual pool. I'm from coastal MA, and will swim ordinarily in 80+ weather.

First 10 days of December 2006 and we swam 7 days. From Southern Ontario, it was warm to us:cool1: :cool1:

I guess it would be warm for you being from Ontario. Me on the other hand it has to be 90 and above for me to be warm even being from NJ. My husband and son on the other hand were warm.

My kids went swimming when we were there in 2005 (12/17-12/26). We are from North Carolina. It was in the 50's-60's when we were there, which is too cold for me. The pools are heated, so that makes a big difference.

its not the best ..but you can do it..yhe waters warm,,but the air is coooollllddd

We were discussing this today. We'll be at the Wilderness Lodge for 9 nights in December. Thought it would be nice to go swmming if it was a bit chilly, then warm up with some hot chocolate in the lobby.

I've been there the last three Decembers, ranging from Dec. 19-Jan. 1st. It hit the 80's two of the times, and it went down into the low 40's two of the times. Just be prepared for anything! Pack layers, swimsuits and rain gear, and you will be just fine!:goodvibes

I have to agree with TinkOhio. We have been 4 times in Dec-Jan. Three of these trips, there was at least one day that was warm enough that everyone went swimming. One trip, it was warm enough every day. One trip, it was so cold that we wore gloves and hats every day.

Just go prepared for it all.

The last 4 times we have been there in Dec, we lived in WA state. We went swimming at least one day each time. Some days were in the 70's, other days were in the 50's. DS and DD went swimming more than once each visit. Debby

We were there dec 10 thru 15 in 2005. I packed the bathing suits just incase. When we got there dd was chomping at the bit to go swimming it was too chilli finally on the 3rd day it was a touch warmer-still below 60 I gave in and let her go. The lifeguard was there in a warmup suit, hat and gloves. There were a half dozen kids all about dd age in the pool while we moms shivered in the lounge chairs(some with adult beverages so they may have been a little warmer!) it wasn't long before all the kids came shivering out of the water one by one....I never heard about swimming the rest of the stay. We are from southwest Ohio and our pool doesn't even open if it's below 70. For Dec you have to be ready for any kind of weather which makes for really difficult packing.

We were there from Dec 5-12 2006 and went swimming every day. Then again we are from Northern WI and are used to the colder temp. We start water-sking in the middle of May until Oct. The kids wear shortie wetsuits in the colder months but the legs and arms are exposed. They have been skiing since they were 3 so they are used to colder water. So for them the water is great at 65-70 degrees outside. So, to answer your question it all depends where you live and what you are used to.

We are from London so its freezing here in December. We were in Disney from 7th to 27th last year. We went to Typhoon Lagoon a couple of times during our trip ad it was glorious. We stayed off site for the first half of the trip at Homewood Suites and I must admit although the weather was lovely the pool was freezing. Hot tub was great though. The onto FW for the last part of trip and the pool was great, like being in a bath. We are going again this year for the same period and will be a SSR for the last 8 nights so praying the weather is good as their pool looks great. Even if it isn't I think once you are submerged it will feel warm.

Also from London and I have been 3 times in january, 3 times we have made it to a waterpark and been able to swim through the vacation. I'm hoping December won't be that different otherwise i will have a child mutiny on my hands:lmao:
Seriously, the only answer is to take swim gear and see what you think when you get there:thumbsup2

We go in December every year and most times it is warm enough to swim. They used to heat their pools in the winter but lately that has not been the case....but I always pack a suit - why not - does not take up much room!
