Hi guys :goodvibes
I'm a mom of two teen girls, 15 & 16, and we're going down with them and two of their friends. They're older now and I know I was roaming around the theme parks with my sister when I was that age, but not at night.

Can you please tell me if you have roamed alone at night and how old you were allowed to do that at?

Also, what time were you supposed to be back at the resort or meet your parents by?

Did you go to one park while your parents were at another?

Did you stay at your resort alone while your parents went to dinner?

The reason I ask these questions is because, like I said, we will have two other girls with us and I just want to let their parents know what the "norm" is down at Disney.

I appreciate your answers, thank you :goodvibes

I would say they should be ok. When I was a little bit younger than that me and my sister roamed in the park a little bit, but my parents were near. But at the resort, we could go wherever.

The only time a left my parents for an extended period of time was when I met a friend at MNSSHP.

Besides that, I had no reason to. I mean, I'd go check ride times/get fastpasses/go to the bathroom etc. by myself, but I didn't feel the need to be alone otherwise. I could've if I wanted to, I just didn't want to. Being a WDW by yourself isn't fun, lol.

I was 15 and 16 at the time.

I've never been to Disney, but when I went to Japan with my dad he let me go alone when I was 16.
There was no time that I had to get back to the hotel by, but we did go out for dinner together so I had to meet him for that.
I guess that's a bigger deal than Disney though since Tokyo is much bigger and way more confusing, but they should be fine as long as they act responsible and don't cause trouble.

You should've put down the option "I would've been allowed to, but I decided to stick with my family." I know, I'm crazy. For some reason, I really don't like my family outside of WDW, but when we're there our troubles seem to go away for the most part.

My last two trips (07 and 08) my parents let me and brother go off together. I was 15 and 16 and he was 12 and 13. We have to stay in the same park as our parents, but can go off together as long as we stay together. We did get separated once at night on our last trip, but we were on our way to meet up with our parents anyway so we both just made our way to them. We have been allowed to stay at the park later than our parents, by like an hour or so, to get on a few more rides. We also are allowed to go around the hotel alone, to get food for our parents mostly though. :)

I am 16 and I am allowed to go off alone. I do on every trip because I bring a friend. We go off alone as long as we call and check in every once in a while or if we're hopping parks.

this past trip i was 19, sis was 17, we met up with a few friends and out parents gave us the day to do whatever we wanted--we had park hoppers so we were allowed to go anywhere really, just had to be @ crystal palace in time for our ADRs.
since I've been 14, I've been allowed to roam (not until this trip did we ever change parks on our own though) my sister, my 2 cousins and I were allowed to go off on our own if we wanted--but I was always the oldest so it was kind of a pain to watch all of them.

We all usually stick together as a family, but I think it might be a different story if a friend was there.

I'd say it would be okay to let the girls go off on their own with their friends, as long as they all stuck together and knew where and when to meet. And if you have park hoppers, I'd say 15-16 would be old enough to go to a diff. park on their own.

As for the resort, my parents don't really go out, but if they did us kids would probably just chill at the pool, or watch a movie in our room.
I think it would've been fun to have a kids night with the parents going out! We always tried to convince our parents to go to Pleasure Island. hehe

Also, I'd say let them go shopping in DTD by themselves as well. Again, just give them a time & place to check in to make sure everything is cool.

Hope that helps!!
Have fun on your trip!! I know your girls will!

hmm, up until I was probably 14 or 15, and when I've been to Disney for the 25th time or so, is when I was allowed to roam. Only because I knew my way around the parks and what to do to get back to the hotel. I never do though lol I always like staying with my family. :goodvibes

I usually never go to a different parks that my parents went to either. It's just easier having them in the same park, you know?

I was first able to go off on my own at Disney when I was 17 and my sister was 13. We had to stay in the same park, 'stick together' and call my parents to check in every now and then, but other than that we could pretty much go where ever we wanted.

Last trip I was 14 and I wasn't allowed.
Our next trip I'll be 17 and I probably won't be allowed.
She always says "I trust you, I just don't trust other people."
My mom is really paranoid about that stuff and especially it being WDW where tons of people are at. I'm sure I'd be fine on my own, but I completely understand where she's coming from.

She wouldn't let me take my brother anyways and walking around by myself would be boring, I'd rather stick around. It's a family vacation anyways. Even if I brought a friend we probably wouldn't do much but maybe a ride and they wait outside. I'll have plenty of time to go off on my own when I'm an adult at WDW.

The parks are normally safe and "kid friendly." I was 16 when I was able to roam around the same park as my parents with a friend of mine. It wasn't until I was 18 that I went to the parks alone without my parents, but with another friend. I'm not sure about the rooming situation, but considering that you will be staying at a Disney resort, I'm sure that the girls staying within the resort area to walk around would be fine as long as it is at a decent hour :)
Hope this helps, and regardless of your decision, I'm sure everyone will have a great time!

I am 16 and my sister is 15. We have been allowed to roam the parks since we were like 14 and 13, that is also partly because we know it so well.
Knowing teenagers they probably both have cell phones, so I am sure if you call in to check up on them it will be fine.

When my family goes we all just stick together... its kinda weird, but we always want to do the same things so its never a big deal. My mom is a crazy planner and we get the most out of our trips lol.
Im allowed to go off on my own, with my little brother sometimes, if I wanted. I know the parks like the back of my hand and feel completley safe there.

Last time I went, I was 13, and I was not even allowed to wait outside a ride alone.
No idea how it'd be now...
I probably owuldn't be allowed to roam very much. My parents believe that the trip is meant to be spent as a family, so we don't really split up unless like two of us want on one thing and two want on another.

On the last trip I went on I couldnt go out alone but I could go out with my brother who was 16 at the time...
We never did end up going anywhere by ourselves though we just enjoyed staying with our family
On the next trip I'm taking (to DLR) is just a Mother/Daughter trip but I'm going with my dance team and am going to meet up to perform at Disneyland and at California Adventure...
I'm also talking about going on a few rides with a girl I've been in every single class in since kindergarten its kinda funny actually lol Realistically everywhere I go she seems to be at lol (Camps, retreats, vacation I think you get the idea lol)
Shes going with her mom and younger sister who is on my dance team and we just want to meet up and go on a few rides together since we both love Disney :)
That should be kind of my fun and my moms happy letting us do that and she can just meet up with one of her friends going also (Many people we know are going during this time...)

Last time I went to WDW, I met up with a friend from my old home-schooling program and she was two years younger than me, and we walked around the park and traveled in the monorails by ourselves. We had those talky things and our cell phones, though.

I'm thirteen now.

Our last trip was this December and I was 14 and my little sister was 12.
We were allowed to go out by ourselves, as long as we stayed together.

We only went by ourselves once in epcot, and we really preferred being with our parents.

But around the resort, we liked going out by ourselves to the pool and such.

Last time I went (Feb 05) it was a school marching band trip, so different than the normal parent-child supervision, but we were allowed to roam around the parks without chaperons. You had to have a least one buddy, we roamed in a group of 6 just because we were all friends and wanted to do the same things. The entire band had to meet up with their chaperons twice a day, mid-afternoon-ish and then right before the parks closed so that we could all get to our buses.

I was the oldest, 17 at the time, and youngest person in my group/my buddy was 14.
