I've been looking at wedding invitations (Disney Themed) and for 25 invitations it would cost me $373.00 and that does not include tax or shipping!! WOW. I would rather spend my money elsewhere.

How many people made their own wedding invitations?? Did you use a kit? Do you have pictures??

Thank you

i made my own as thats what i do here in the uk, mine were a hidden mickey theme and for 65 invitations for our uk reception it must have cost me around $50

I made my own invitations as well.

I bought cardstock at a local stationer, and I actually have a nice color laser printer so I printed them all at home.

It took me ages to try to design it, but I basically took a look at sample designs on various invitation websites and took aspects of the ones I liked to incorporate into my design.

I don't have a picture, but it ended up being ecru cardstock that I printed on, and the I mounted it onto a citrus green backing cardstock with double sided tape (like the kind for photo paper) so it has a border. Then I made a paper bellyband with some pretty copper colored paper, tying off the finished product with some satin ribbon tied in a bow. It took me an hour of fiddling with the ribbon before I figured out how to make pretty bows haha. Then 7 minutes tying each invitation LOL. My fiance tried to help me and when he showed me a bow he tied "in only 1 minute", I just started cracking up (it was so bad), and he gave up.

Keep in mind, it's VERY time consuming to make your own invitations! I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you have way too much free time. XD

Oh, and I didn't have much Disney theming in my invitations other than... Mickey confetti!!! I think basically everyone who got the invitation ended up with confetti spilling everywhere hehe.

I used cards and pockets and made my own

We made our own. We bought white cardstock from somewhere on the internet (sorry I can't remember from where). Then we just created a basic black border with black print and printed them using a very nice laser printer. Neither one of us is very crafty, so there were no bows or additional card backing.

I was pretty please with how they turned out: the heat made some of the smaller cards (like the RSVPs) curl under a bit.

I think had we had the invites and accessories made it would have been around 300 dollars and we did our own for just under 100.

I made our programs..it was white card stock with the ship printed on it then a piece of frosted vellum overlayed and secured with raffia

I used Cards and Pockets for ours also:

I am going to make mine. I went to Walmart and bought a "complete invitation kit" with 40 invites and envelopes and 40 reply cards with envelopes - on clearance for $7.

I will print them on my printer. I may add some star graphics because our theme is Wish Upon A Star.

i was think of making my own but saw some at MIchaels and figured with 50% off coupons but i have everything i need to make them. I'm a paper craft
addict.
I love the pocket invites that a=were posted. Can i please get the template for it. I think those would be sooooooo cool to make. Love the idea of the pocket that hold the info. Someone PLEASE tell me how to make these. Thanks

I am not creative. We were going to try and make them, but when we bought all the stuff we realized could order them at weddingpaperdivas.com for about 5$ more, so we did that. So we retunred the craft stuff.

Here is a sample of my invite. I used cards and pockets.....

The little mickey will have our names and monogram with our date....:goodvibes

We also made our own. We used the cardstock from Michaels (using the coupons) with the pearl swirls on the sides, and then we found a formal Mickey/Minnie jpg online and used that. Mickey had a top hat on and was leaning to the side and Minnie had a dress and veil on holding flowers. We put it at the top of the invitation and the response card. We were also lucky enough that the Disney love stamps came out at the same time so we were able to use those on the envelopes. I do agree with the post that it is VERY time comsuming to make them, but it saved us a lot of money.

We also made ours. We ordered the paper from http://www.textstyledesign.com and I printed them out on my office printer, while DH rocked the paper cutter
I LOVED how they came out and was really proud of them! They fit our theme perfectly

we made our own for the wedding and our own reception. We went to Michael's with the 40% off coupons that come in the paper and got 25 invites in a kit for $12. We got the invites for the reception (since we would need more) from LCIpaper.com we got 100 invites for $100. It took hardly no time at all to print them up. This included the reply cards and envelopes along with the fancy envelope with the color inside of it.

I made my own ivites...60 in total for just under $500 total. Including enough paper for invites and envelopes, RSVP (& lined envelopes), info card, menus, ceremony program, and thank you notes. I had a great time making them and did them all myself. It did take forever, but I stay at home during the day with my daughter, and have time during her naps to work on them. For the quality and look of them, I saved hundreds of dollars doing them myself. I also had personalized stamps made featuring a pic of us.

I ordered my paper from Paper Source (on line - but I'm not able to post links yet) and got all the extras (doble sided tape, corner punches, and envelope paper lining) from Michaels.

When I figure out how to upload a picture of them I'll post it for sure.
