I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I've known about MK being multi-level for years and I'm so, so curious to see it. But a big part of me doesn't want to for the reason you said.

It's less seeing the Utilidors per se, but I know they show you some behind-the-scenes stuff on the attractions. It's fun to read about that stuff sometimes at home, but when I'm there, I just want to believe in all of it.

I had gone to Disney with a friend and we would see these amazing things and ask "How do they do that?" The simple answer we came up with was "Magic!" I have another friend who was there with us once and his response to that was always a stern "It's not magic." He'd say it like we don't know that. We just want to enjoy everything and be big kids while there. The science can be read about later.

We did the Keys tour in Aug 2015. It came with lunch at Columbia Harbour House and included walk on to two rides. Was worth doing...but it did kinda ruin some of the Magic for me. Though it's now forgotten so all is good.

I get you. The lengths WDW goes to make the magic is the magic for me. FLOATING MOUNTAINS?! Because imagineering was like "yeah we've got this." Several years back when they were working on the flying dragon in the MK, I was really stoked. I know it's just a matter of time before they create some amazing flying dragons and if anyone can, its Disney! Knowing how it all happens makes it more amazing to me.

The Utilidors have their own P.A. system for announcements and music. One thing the do NOT play is Disney music. They figure the CMs get enough of that upstairs.

That is an amazing point that I had never even thought about before. I knew there was a downstairs but never even imagined how it affects even the simplest of things like trees!

That's actually rather interesting. Mind you, I was until recently completely fooled by the aspect ratio of the ground floor to the presented first floor. I had no notion that the trees were actually growing from one story down!

That's why the original MK Fantasyland is a concrete jungle. New FL is built beyond the utilidors so plenty of trees are there.

I've been watching tonnes of stuff online and there is so much I didn't know! Areas that are screened off or are meant to blend in are all a uniform green colour, to fool the eye. There is never more than 30 steps to the nearest bin to keep pollution to the minimum. False perspective makes the castle and other such buildings appear taller than they actually are. Bodies of water are actually tinted a dull green/brown colour so you can't see how shallow it is - at no point is the water more than 5 feet deep. And there's more. I can't believe how ignorant I was!
