When I called national yesterday for clarification on the 2nd driver...I was transfered to what they said was "national customer cares"

the guy who answered- worked for Alamo customer cares" I questioned him- Huh? what did you just say LOL

he said- national and alamo are owned by the same company..

I didnt know that!

Thrifty car rental is owned by Dollar and L&M owns EZrental.

It seems like National and Alamo are starting to merge some of their operations. In Orlando they are sharing cars and at times the same cashier and booth.

We usually get Alamo via Priceline, but once got National. The line was much shorter, and I asked the counter agent about it. He said that National tends to be busy earlier because it caters more to business travelers, while Alamo is busy later because it caters to leisure travelers. I thought that was interesting! Two types of people, but all choose from the same pool of cars.

Alamo used to be offsite, but they moved in with National at MCO a year or two ago. I've seen workers at MCO jump from serving the Alamo counter over to the National counter if the lines were longer at one. So they are crosstrained.

National and Alamo have been "sister" companies for years. About a year ago Vanguard bought both and they remain sister companies. Both sets of employees are cross trained (for what that is worth) and the cars, while separated by company in the garages, are shared.
