are 10 ft. apart! Also there is a hole in the bottom of them, that all the trash goes into a big dumpster underground in the tunnels! DD is visiting a friend who also works for Disney. She was tell DD alot of the Disney Secret's etc, that go on underground in the tunnels!

Some of them must not empty below because I see people changing the trash bags on a regular basis.

there are NOT holes in all of the trash cans. There IS a e-vac system to dispose of trash. I guess it is kinda like a big hole that trash is dropped into and sucked through the tunnels to a central location. There are also some direct to e-vac places but I don't know where any of those are located in a guest area.

yes I worked at WDW

Right - we got some of our greatest pin-trades from the "changing the bag' garbage man, at MK a LOT.

We happened to see the same kid doing it many times...and I dont think anyone ever stopped him to ask! He had some doozey's!!! :cool1:

I believe they wanted to run the e-vac system to every trash can originally, but the engineering problems were too great; the suction/vacuum need to run it to all points could not be maintained, or something like that.

I'm pretty sure that MK is the only park that has a trash e-vac system - and it is only in a few places around the park, not all the trashcans. It was considered too expensive to install a similar system at the other parks. At least that's what I remember from our Backstage Magic tour a few years ago.

Epcot has a very limited evac system in their very limited tunnel system. Epcot's is more like a laundry chute with suction but you can break a hand in it if someone else opens the other side of the chute while you're dumping trash in it. Not that I know that from experience or anything :rolleyes1

DD was in the CP and assigned to custodial services at MK on Main Street. She would have loved a big hole at the bottom of each trash can, but she did not have that luxury. She emptied trash cans all day long and cleaned bathrooms. She also had the freedom to stop and visit with guests.

And have you ever noticed the hand pressure needed to open the flaps at the top of the can, where you toss in the trash, are all the same, and all very easy? None are difficult to open, just a slight hand pressure, and all the same.
