Did you have a Christmas recipe failure?

My Christmas Ham was "OK". I found a recipe that called for baking it in a bag, you used a "glaze" of OJ (I freshly squeezed myself!), Ginger Ale, Honey, Maple Syrup, Pineapples etc. I mixed it all up - poured it over and let it cook away. The recipe said not to worry about all the juice as the ham would absorb it - none of it was absorbed and none of the flavor of all these ingredients made it into my ham at all! The ham itself was good - but it was a complete waste of good ingredients.

My failure was au gratin potatoes. T.

Mine too. Second time trying to make them. I sliced off part of my thumb too:eek:
But to me they just didn't have enough flavor- bland. They were highly rated on foodtv- an emril recipe which I should have known not to try.
One trick he does which I do like for them- is that he cooks the slices in simmering cream on the stove BEFORE they go into the oven- So my slices were cooked enough(that was my problem last year) they just tasted eh-
But everything else was good so no problems.
Oh and the Paula Dean Khalua triffle thing was a huge hit. All fudgy and gooey and delicious.
