Just me... AGAIN!!!

I keep having nightmares that i order invitations, favors, plane tickets, ect. and then when that 8 months rolls around when I can book my date isn't available. :scared: How likely is it that i won't get my date? Has anyone on here NOT gotten the date of their choice? Does it rarely happen or happen alot for escape brides?

We're hoping for Saturday October 2nd 2010 @ 10am @ SBP.... What are the odds i'll get bumped? :confused3

I hate to be a downer, but Saturdays are a popular day of the week to get married. The chances are good that you might be in a lottery for that date. I originally had my mind set on February Saturday, 7th 2009 for my wedding. Unfortunately, I didn't win the lottery for that date, but instead got bumped to Saturday, February 21st. At first, I was a little upset, because I had my heart set on the 7th. In the end, though everything worked out great and it really was no big deal.

I wouldn't call it being pessimistic, but you have to be prepared. As jacqu3lin3 said, Saturday is a popular wedding day.

However...I would assume a lot of Wishes brides try for weekday weddings because the minimums are lower. You also have the fact that yours is so early going for you. You are also an OCD and uberplanner bride (I say it with love :goodvibe) and I know you will be calling bright and early at exactly 8 months out...so I have hope for you...but it's always good to be prepared.

Since you are having a small group of people attend, just be honest with them and make sure they don't book anything that can't be unbooked or changed (like airfare) until it's 100%. As far as the 'save the dates' and stuff, do you really think anyone is going to say no if it goes from Oct 2 to Oct 4?

And just don't order anything until the date is 100%. 8 months is plenty of time to send out invites and get favors.

I sent out my save the dates saying April 12th, and we are now planning on the 15th. Nobody seems to care :goodvibes

:lmao:

I am such an OCD planner. You dont even know... i get myself all worked up over nothing and its rediculouse! How does everything work with calling and booking your date? The way DF'f family is acting i'm so afriad that if we do need to change the date they'll start giving us crap.

I'm just hoping that between having the ceremony at 10am and at SBP instead of the WP i'll be able to do it without a problem. Fingers crossed!

We are in exactly the same position, except, coming from UK, we have had to book our flights and accom etc ALREADY for Oct 2010 - our 2nd choice date is only two days after our 1st though, so we SHOULD be OK. I will absolutely cry if not. Luckily, the planner told us that as long as we are flexible over the TIME, she can't see a problem with getting the date at ouyr venue even though it is likely to be the MOST popular day of the year! I am feeling a BIT reassured by this, but still panicking of course.
I totally get the uberplanning - that's me too! REALLY HOPE you get your date!

Are you sure you need to book the plane now ?
I am getting married in december, and we only booked the plane in June, 6 months in advance.

I was told this as well.. DF and I are set on the WP...As long as it is during value season we don't care about time or date...

Its really hard trying to coordinate everything with everyone. Between time off of work (DF's dad needs to give a year in advanced... absolutly insane if you ask me) and school it would be such a bummer to let everyone know a dat and than have it get bumped. Not to mention that we like the date we chose. :goodvibes

Oh well.... Maybe with tons of pixie dust and crossed fingers and toes we'll get our date without a problem. I'll make sure i'm the first phone call the disney weddings department gets on 2.2.2010!!! :rotfl2:

I am in the same boat too coming from the UK !! We want the date of 28th April 2010 so we only have just over a month to speak to Disney but we have booked our flights already and hotels. There are 14 of us all flying out together so we wanted to make sure there were no problems with travelling so we needed to book early. If we need to change the date then we are all staying at disney for 1 week so fingers crossed we will be ok.

Good luck with your date
Nadine xx

I was neurotic about my date as the people around here can tell you. I was sure that I wasn't going to get my date. But my WC advised me to be open with times and locations and I would get the date. I was much more attached to the date than I ever was the location or time. :thumbsup2

I hear ya! I can book in a month; I had just decided on a Disney Escape wedding when they changed to the 8 month rule! :( I was already told that there was another wedding on my date, but it was earlier in the day. I have my heart set on the date and time. I could be a bit more lenient with location, although everyone wants the WP and my parents are even paying the extra $1000 just to have it there. (I personally wouldn't mind the Yacht Club or the Boardwalk, although I do love the castle in the background at WP)! We have already booked our honeymoon, and we have our hearts set on Misty (who I have yet to book bc I don't want to jinx anything)! What's more is that I am starting a new job next week so I hope my new manager is understanding that 9 months from now I will need 2 weeks off! We're hoping it all falls into place and I will let you know next month if it works out so you can be reassured with a success story! I have my fingers crossed for you, me, and anyone else in the same boat!

I dont know what it is with me lately... i've been feeling more and more like a bridezilla and I don't like it! :guilty: I really want that date because it works well with everyones schedules and we are planning on having a home reception columbus day weekend at our house. I'd be willing to change the time but not so much on the location... I just LOVE SBP! If I had to change it i'd move it to the WP but i'd rather keep it at SBP and save the $$.

Thank you all for understand my neurotic, OCD, bridezilla-esque questions lately! :grouphug:

edit: I also booked randy... :scared: I knew i wanted him to do our wedding so i booked him really far in advanced... He said he's pretty flexible with disney brides because he knows how booking works but i home that doesn't cause and issue! :scared:

I didn't have to actually ring on the 8 month mark. My planner just booked it as she was aware of the time, date and location I wanted.

Oh so you dont need to call then? thats awesome! I thought it was kind of like first person who calls gets in first! Thanks for the info!:thumbsup2

I have every sympathy with you being inclined to do the Bridezilla thing!

It's so frustrating having to book flights from the UK a good 12 months out, but not being able to get confirmation from Disney until the 8 month point.

For my daughter's wedding next May we carefully plotted dates for flights that would give us a 'window' of approximately 3 days during which time the ceremony could take place as she had her heart set on the WP rather than a date/time. This allowed sufficient time for getting over the jet lag, obtaining the licence, having our nails done etc. and left enough time afterwards for them to have a private honeymoon.

Despite the meticulous planning, we still ended up losing our nerve and switching to a Wishes package. However, that just brings different stresses.....

Best of luck to all you DisBrides with your dates/times/venues x

My planner is doing the same thing. For me, I'm trying to get April 15th, but since August 15th is a saturday, she cannot book it until the monday. I feel like I have waited soooo long to get this booked, so when I found that out I was so mad!!! I totally feel the turning into bridezilla thing!!

We had no problem getting our date and this was in late January/early February (when you could still book 12 months out). However that's probably because we we're really flexible about the time and it's smack dab in the middle of value season (before all the holiday travelers arrive later that month). If you're really concerned make a back-up plan (or 2) just in case.

I'm definatly going to try to make some sort of back up plan. If it isn't saturday 10/2 i'll try and get Sunday 10/3. I'm comfortable with either the 10am slot or the 12:00. Thats gives us four options so hopefully it'll work out.

Because DF's brothers and my sisters are in school we HAVE to do a Saturday or Sunday so they don't miss alot. If we did Saturday they were going to come down either thursday night or friday morning and then leave either sunday night or monday morning. I just keep trying to tell myself that everything will work out the way its supposed to... there is a reason for everything.
