Did you ever sharpen Crayons

Only if I was in the middle of a pic, more often then not ones they lost that incredible tip, they were done

No they always broke and got stuck in the sharpener. So just peeled the paper and colored to make my own custom tip.

yep my parents often come home with the little packs, but when they had a 64, the world was mine for the taken

In my day, the box didn't come with a sharpener. Honestly, I didn't even know you could/should sharpen wax crayons. Wax crayons were just for little kids; nobody used them after they went to school. A new pack of these were on our supply lists from Grade 1 on and it was so upsetting when your mom decided your ones from last year were still plenty long enough and you had to use them again:

I don’t buy crayons anymore, but I do buy eye shadow palettes for myself, and that’s like a new box of crayons for me

I sharpen them for my kids, it's kinda relaxing. But I do still buy them a new box for school each year.

I wish I would have known about the electric crayon sharpener when they were younger.

I love to sharpen them but the problem arises when they’re too short to find in the box, and when you do find them you have to dig in to poke it with one fingernail and drag it up and out. Tough times.

Use to be. I expand plastic into foam and our colored foams are colored via wax and it smells like crayons. It's not fun to have several hundred pounds of material transferring into the bulk bags with that smell far heavier than just a box of crayons. It actually gives me a massive headache now.


I love the "New Built-In Sharpener" that was on the box from the first one I got through my entire childhood of coloring with crayons. Probably still labeled on the box today.

Yes! I thought the sharpener on the crayon box was cool. I think the sharpener was only the 64 count box of crayons, which my Mom usually didn't get me. But once or twice she did and I thought it was the best thing ever.

Aww, I remember that box! That brings back memories! Now that you mention it, I don't recall sharpening crayons as a child, I think I just didn't care enough about clean lines?

I peeled the paper and sharpened them by hand with my fingernail. I felt super smart for figuring out a technique that worked.
