While daydreaming today, I was recalling how we were walking back to our room one evening at ASMu. What walked right across our path? An armadillo! I had never seen a real one before and it was kind of a trip! If I'd been drinking margaritas in World Showcase, I might have assumed I was seeing things, but nope, I was straight as an arrow and there he was. ;)

Did YOU ever see an armadillo strolling through the World?

yes we saw them too almost daily
in the grass and on the road
we stayed at CBR
I kept looking at them cause I thought it was neat
I'd never seen one either

I didn't see one in WDW, but one crossed my path on a street in New Iberia, Louisiana.
What a weird looking critter that was!

We saw one at PO-R in January. They are funny looking little critters.

Fun thread, and YES! My first trip ever to Disneyworld some years ago was blessed by the sighting of what I THOUGHT was a cat. LOL

Hey! Stop laughing! It was dark out and it came out of the bushes...AND I saw it from a balcony.
I actually yelled to the family "Hey! There are CATS on WDW property! Come and look!!"

Hubby and daughter came out to see the "cat" and I've been teased ever since about my ability (or lack thereof) to tell a cat from an armadillo.

Now days when we go to DW, one of our goals is to find armadillos. Some years we see many and other years we go home empty handed.

LOL! We have them in the woods behind our house...its nothing to see an Armidillo in Mississippi.

Now if I was to see oh say a MOOSE;) ;) ;) ;) or something I would be in shock!

Yes,

a couple years ago at CBR, the bus driver stopped the bus so we all could see the little critter on the side of the road.

to me they are the cutest things to see........but my granddaughter when she first went at the age of 4 ......thought the little lizards were dinosaurs........it was the cutest thing........can hardly wait to see it

We saw one behind the bushes at the pool at All Star Sports this past January. The pool was very crowded with teenage dance troups and the young ladies were thrilled to see this strange creature. They were taking pictures and squealing at the site of the animal. Poor guy just hid under the bushes.

Well it's good to know that we were imagining it. We don't see many armadillos around our house, so it was a bit mind boggling. :D

No but we see them all the time here. But they are usually dead on the side of the road. We call them road or speed bumps.

Kirby, it's MOOSE we see dead at the side of the roads!

Now THAT'S a speed bump! :p

We always go on lizard hunts too when we're at DW. We LOVE those little critters!

I saw one by the laundry/pool in the Magnolia Bend section of Port Orleans-Riverside on New Year's Eve. I had seen them at WDW on the side of the road while we were driving around property, but had never seen one "visiting" the resorts. Do you think they get an AP holder's rate?

Saw them a few times from the walkway between WLV and WL. Presume they are common in the Ft Wilderness area.

Not in WDW but I've seen plenty of them in my yard! :)

Are they friendly? In an odd sort of way, they're kinda cute. :D

With our many years of camping at Fort Wilderness, the amardillo would make a nightly visit thru the campgrounds - they seem harmless tho.

We will be down there Sunday. We are staying at FW. DS and I love to go out at night, with our flashlights, and look for the armadillos!:) Being from Ohio, we don't have critters like that around us!;)

TC:cool:

Well...cute...not really, especially if they are digging up your flowerbeds. They aren't something you would want to pet either!! Armadillos are not really people type animals. They come out mostly at night. We have a hard time with them and possums down here.
