No, not yet at least. With the ages of our children (12, 6, and 3) there is really no other vacation destination that everyone in the family can enjoy. Before kids, we vacationed elsewhere and when the girls get older, I would like to visit New York, Washington, San Francisco, Hawaii, and Europe (with trips to WDW interspersed in between, of course!); however, at this point in our lives, WDW is the perfect vacation.
Not on Disney as a whole, but on one particular aspect: pin trading
We went down for one of the first BIG pin festivals (mean Laureen and crew were there hosting their first pin adventure), and, while it was fun, there were just too many people in it for profits that, well, spoiled it a little. We had a lot of fun with the people from this board, but the "pin sharks" just turned my stomach to the point that we kinda got out of the habit of collecting.
Actually, for our December trip this year, I think we're going to get DD her very first lanyard and some pins to trade, but probably gonna stick to cast member trading. Still...as the time gets closer, I may just pull out the ol' traders bag and see if I can get the spirit back again It was a LOT of fun while it lasted......
We had a hard time with our reservations at CR Tower this last trip. We made them when DW was eligible for a travel employee discount. When DW paid for the trip she specifically asked if they needed anything else and was told no. A few weeks before our trip we get a message on our answering machine that said they needed a letter from DW employer saying she was an employee in good standing. Well DW had just left this job (partly so we could go to WDW) and was unable to get a letter. If we had known this was needed we would have gotten it before she left or she would have asked for leave and not terminated her employment until after our trip. We also had just missed out on the codes for the MK area resorts that came out at that time. Anyway after many many calls (I was very nice and they were very nasty, almost threatening) to Guest Services supposedly straightened everything out. They gave us a comparable discount. Then we received the confirmation and the dates were all wrong! I mean they weren't even close. I was fuming and after many many more calls (they insisted that we had made a mistake, not them) we got that straightened out, but it was such a hassle that I almost told DW to change where we were going. We ended up splitting our stay between CR Tower Club and YC Concierge (discounted through a code). Glad we did that since we were not too thrilled with CR.

That is kind of what happened to us. After talking to the CM's in guest services about our problem, which BTW, was not resolved and their attitude, it has just left a very bad taste in my mouth where Disney is concerned. And I'm a girl who has 2 rooms in her house decorated in nothing but Disney. I was so excited to take DD on her 1st trip, now all I am is ticked off. We're seriously considering going to "Beaches" in Turks and Caicos instead.
roliepolieoliefan - You are right about the attitude, which is surprising since with us it was them that made the mistake. At first, they were somewhat pleasent, but after I refused to give in and walk away (thanks to the posters on these Boards I did not give in though I was more than ready to), they then got accusatory, saying that we were going to check in under false pretenses. They then said that this was fraud. I was not pleased and immediately asked for a supervisor. The supervisor started off the same but finally when I demanded the CR Tower Club room we had reserved at the code rate, she gave it to me. Then when we got the confirmation a few weeks later, the dates were wrong. I called and they said those are the dates I gave them. Again I did not back down (thanks to the Boards) and got the dates corrected. What I should also mention is that we also had a room booked at YC for the same period and if CR did not work out we would have spent our entire trip at YC. We really wanted to try CR and we ended up splitting our stay between the two. Up until we checked in at CR though I was uncertain if we were going to get the room we wanted at the rates we were told. Anyway it worked out.
Not yet. For us, some of the beauty of being a frequent Disney visitor is when something happens, you don't have that feeling of "this is once in a lifetime thing so everything ahs to be perfect". I can roll witht hepunches better knowing that the next time things will be better, and also, I remember the nice things that CMs have done for me "off the cuff" in years' past.
