Did you ever have an experience related to Disney that made you want to take a break

Just wondering, if anyone ever had an experience with something or someone related to Disney, And you said, OK enough is enough and decided to take a break from Disney and go somewhere else on vacation?

Ditto to what Pop Daddy said! We always have fun, but DH then says - you know we could have taken two vacations for the cost of one. I never regret a penny I spend at Disney, but there are so many other places to see. This summer we are going to Maine, Acadia and Mt. Desert. I can't wait, I'm looking forward to it. I won't be missing the Disney hustle and bustle. I want to hike, see a moose and eat lobster roll. I'll be ready for Disney again in a year or two.

I have to agree on that one too! As much as we all love WDW it is expensive for a family of 5. We usually do Disney every 3 years and try to do smaller trips the other years.

No, must have my disney fix at least once a year, except its getting harder to plan with everyones work and school schedules plus figuring out a budget etc and time. Looks like it will be easter at the swan again next year too.

No, like one of our fellow DISer's signature always says, "A bad day at Disney is better than a good day anywhere else!"

Amen! :teeth:

Yeah, during our last trip. After driving straight thru for 23 hrs and then listen to my kids whine for the first few days it finally hit me at the MK. We were tired and hot but I dragged my family to get Pineapple Dole Whips simply because everyone raves about them and I just had to have one. What the big deal is I don't know, because they really aren't that good. IMO they are less than good. I sat there eating it, exhausted, wishing I had a cold bottle of water instead. I would never choose water over a dessert normally... that's how disappointed I was. At that moment I wondered why was I there, why did I spend all that money on Park Hoppers, why, why why?

I love Disney and planning our Disney itineraries, but I hope I remember that feeling, and if and when we have a vacation next year we do something else. If not, I'll just avoid the Dole Whips. Now I have to try the Beaver Tails!

::yes:: I totally agree.

The reason I didn't do our summer trip to Disney last year and went to Vegas instead was because I was having severe neck pain and a then 16 year old son that had decided he was way too old for WDW.

Well........after spending lots of $$ in physical therapy I received the "ok" to ride the rides again from my PT. The now 17 year old son has decided that 17 isn't that old for Disney and all the great rides!!:D

Well almost, but it actually turned into another trip to WDW.

October of 2002 we went down with the in-laws and stayed in a 2-bedroom at Boardwalk. By the end of the week I had gotten really tired of traveling with them. Things like my MIL complaining every morning that she couldn't sleep because of FIL's snoring, but she never went into the common room to sleep on the sofa. I also got sick and tired of them saying we had to decide what to do since we were the "Disney" experts but then would put down everything we would decide.

The week ended with me giving my FIL the finger and DH and I barely speaking to each other at the end of the evening. About a week after we got home my wonderful DH said "look for some cheap airfares - I really want to go back and recapture the magic". We made a budget trip down in mid December and we really did recapture the Magic. Now we go to Disney by ourselves and when we want to treat the in-laws we send them to Vero by themselves!

Sort of... It's just that I've been there soooo much that every now and again I know I need a break to recapture the magic. Nothing was better than taking almost two years off (when I went to the wedding, I didn't go to any of the parks) then going with my husband.

....is why we still get so excited about going there. I know a lot of people here go every year and some more than that, but for us,that would be way too much mouse!! I like the fact that there are so many new things to see and do since our last trip. The thing about going to Disney is that there are always crowds, kids and hubbub. Sometimes its nice to take a vacation in Maine at Acadia National Park or Old orchard Beach. So,a break from WDW
is a good thing.

Nothing to make me want to take a break, but a 14 day stay in Orlando once turned me off to staying there that long. I don't mind being in Florida for 14 days, but that long in Orlando is a bit too long for us. Ideally, a trip would be 7 days in Orlando, 7 at one of the Florida beaches.

Yup...about 2 years ago DD (who was 5 and half at the time) said to me while walking through EPCOT "Wouldn't it be really cool to actually visit these places in real life?"

And I thought...yah, that would be way cool! We haven't been back to Disney since. We'll go back eventually but right now we have a few other places to knock off the vacation list.
