My kids were talking to me about what to do if they get lost and stuff... Then I told them how I got "lost" once while I was shopping with my great grandmother and my great aunt once. I was in Boscov's and wasn't paying attention to where they went I guess I made a wrong turn and poof they disappeared.. I was about 4 at the time. I asked 2 ladies for help. I was taken to the desk and they called for them over the loud speaker.. I was reunited after 2 minutes or so.. I don't even remember being scared. I don't think I got in trouble either.. ::cop:

Just before my 3rd birthday I got lost (probably only for 2 or 3 minutes) in the Magic Kingdom. Fortunately my mom had dressed my sister and I alike.

My grandparents took me to the store when I was 4 years old. I got lost and for some reason went back to the car, which was across the street. I guess in my little mind I figured they would have to come back to the car to leave.

Oh please! I got lost so much, I knew the routine.

1) Make sure you are really lost-not just out of sight lost.
2) Proceed to the nearest service desk.
3) Ask clerk to page mom by full name.
4) While waiting chat up clerk. Sometimes it gets you trinkets like stickers;)
5) See mom coming shaking her head-look sorry.
6) When mom gets to service desk wail "WHERE DID YOU GO??"

LOL-My mother is a saint:angel:

I got lost once and my parents got lost once, lol.;) When I was a toddler I got lost in a mall, some ladies returned me. And when I was 11, we were in the NYC Grand Central Station waiting for a train (this was a vacation, I'm from Iowa!) I told my mom I was going into a bookstore and she said ok. 20 minutes later my brother comes in and tells me I'm in big trouble! My mom wasn't listening, just answering! I wasn't lost, but when my dad came back from the restroom with my brother, they were all panicking when they discovered I was "missing".

My kids asked what to do if they get lost at the park.. well its right out our back gate.. I suggested they just walk on home.

I did! I was in our local mall and was looking at toys with my cousin while my Mom and Aunt were in a different aisle (same store) and I decided to wander away. I ended up being found by a lady and she took me to the desk at the mall and they paged my Mom and Aunt to come get me. I don't remember being scared, but I'm sure I was!

yep, i got lost from my parents at the mall, but i knew the way home, walked there, told a neighbor and he went up to the mall to let my parents know he found a lost kid :lmao:

My grandmother took me to the tree lighting ceremony in San Antonio when I was seven. It was on the River Walk and there were thousands of people. I don't remember being scared but I do remember how upset my grandmother was when she found me.

I never did...Always knew where I was. On the other hand my parents got lost from time to time!:cool1:

I lost my mom briefly on Tom Sawyer's Island at DL. I was about 7 or 8 years old. I was with my mom and my sister. I told my mom I was going to go into one of the caves. Well, I took about two steps in, decided it was too scary, and did an about face. Unknown to me, my mom and sister and gone to the other side to meet me at the exit! So I came out from the cave and freaked out because I didn't see her. I went crying to a CM after looking around for a moment. I vaguely remember being sat on a brick post, and then a few minutes later I spotted Mom and sis and ran to them.

I once made myself lost. I was 4 years old, and my mom left me home alone for a few minutes while she went down the block to get my sister from school. It literally was down the block, and my mom left me alone plenty of times before. I wasn't tall enough to reach the locks, and I knew not to answer the phone. Well, I guess I was feeling very sweet that day and decided I needed to give my mom some flowers. So I somehow pushed over one of the kitchen chairs and stood on it to unlock the door. Went to our side yard and started picking "flowers" for my mom (really just purple weeds). My mom gets home, sees the door open, starts freaking out, yelling my name. I show up at the door with this handful of weeds and dirt all over my clothes. My mother was so relieved, I didn't get in trouble until later.

My mom once got left behind as a kid. She grew up in Russia, and they didn't have rest stops like we have here, so if you needed to go, you pulled over and found a bush. Which is what my mom and her parents did. My mom went with my grandma to find a private bush, and my grandma went back to the car leaving my mom to take care of business. I guess my grandparents got into a fight because they just started driving, assuming my mom was in the car. I think my mom was around 7 at the time.

i lost my son in walmart once - I wasn't paying attention and grabed this little blond boy about the same size as my son and got out of toys and realized he wasn't mine :rotfl2: we went back and there was the mother holding my sons hand so we just swapped kids :lmao: poor boys didn't know what to think at first :rotfl:

I got lost at Fort Dells (Wisconsin Dells) when I was little way back in the late 60's. It was pretty scary as I remember so after that I stayed darn close to Mom and Dad.

My mother was the queen of ditching us. In other words if you didn't stay close, you were going to get lost.

In fact we STILL get "lost" from her. Thank God for cell phones.:lmao:

My oldest got lost on Mackinaw Island...of course it was with MY MOTHER riding bikes. I think she was about 8yo. And this is before we had cell phones.

We were headed to the Grand Hotel so she asked people how to get there. We had gone back to the hotel and somehow we got a message that she was at the GRAND and they were giving her food and drinks.

I got lost once at the mall. I had to tell the mall security and then they found my mom. Needless to say I was in big troouble!

I got lost once. We had just moved to a new neighborhood and I only knew our street name. Thank goodness I wasn't scared of old men back then as I lived in a retirement area and asked one for directions. He had no idea where my street was, but noticed which direction I had come from and sent me a few doors down the way I came, who did the same thing until about three blocks down one of them knew where it was and he loaded my bike in his car and drove me home over a mile away. I was six.

Oh, the day I got lost is a famous story in my family. :rotfl:

My grandparents had taken my cousins and I to a pretty big county fair. I was 5. I was walking with my 7 yo cousin and we'd stopped to look at this machine that made plastic figurines. I was fascinated with it and didn't realize my cousin had moved on with the family and I was totally alone.

I was always kind of an independent child so instead of panicking, I found my way out of the fair, went to the parking lot, and sat perched on the hood of my grandparents' car. My grandmother was in a panic and my name was being announced on the loudspeakers and the on-duty sheriff deputies were searching for me. Because I was so calm and seemed to be matter of factly going somewhere, no one thought to stop me. They were looking for a crying child and I wasn't fitting the criteria.

My grandfather finally found me about a half hour later, patiently waiting at the car. He asked me why I wasn't upset and I told him that I knew they couldn't leave without me so why would I be scared? He bought me a hot dog.

My grandmother was furious with me and would never take me to the fair again. Even when I was an adult and had my own car. :rotfl2:

My cousin Kylie and I specialized in "getting lost" when we were together. Two occasions stand out in my mind:

1. While visiting Disney at the age of 5, our mothers somehow let us convince them that we would be okay going from the pool (where they were) to the hotel room (where Grammy was). Apparently 2 five year olds addup to a 10 year old? Anyway, we got lost, and when they found us, I was trying to stand on my cousin's shoulders to look through a peephole and see if we could see Grammy in the room. :lmao:

2. In a local department store called O'Shea's, we got separated from our mothers, and rather than hunting for them, we started fooling around with a mannequin. Imagine my horror when I pulled her hand off! We panicked, and ran through the store with the mannequin hand looking for a parent. We found my mom first, and she ended up leaving the hand on a rack and taking us out of the store.

I know it was the 70's, but the freedom we were allowed at such a young age is kind of shocking to me now.

Yes I was 4 and was in a mall with my dad and my Uncle and his kids going to see Santa. My cousin's started to throw a tantrum and my dad turned his back and I walked away to look at the train.(It is a ride in the mall) Well when I looked where they were & they were gone. So I went to the exit we came in and sat there.(my dad always park at the same spot so I remember he still parks at the same spot) I sat there for a long time.Until a man started talking to me on the bench and thats when I saw my Uncle coming he was looking all over for me. My dad came running with my sister and baby brother. I was never scared (should have been) But my dad and Uncle sure were.
Now if this was my kids mainly my oldest she would have a major melt down. Ican't even get out of the car to put mail in a mailbox with out her freaking out.
