Did you ever consider naming your kids something else?

One of my biggest regrets is that I didn't use my name for my daughters middle name. It's a family name that hasn't made it into a new generation. I keep suggesting it to my children for future use though!

My oldest had his name set in stone since I was around eight!

I chose DD's name (Jordan) when she was still thought to be a boy. TWO sonogram techs said she was a boy...so when we got a girl on delivery we weren't prepared to name HER. So we kept Jordan and instead of Patrick for a middle name we called her Jordan Schuyler. I wish I could have known she was a girl or at least gotten to know her a little longer before I picked a name. I think I would have called her Madeline or Amelia. My DS...I love love love his name...Dakota. I don't really dislike Jordan's name I just don't think she really looks like a Jordan...LOL

My dh is an odd man.. I love him dearly.. but he REALLY wanted to name our first son... DAX... now this was 1980 mind you.. DAX was unheard of.... While I was having my c-section, my friend Christy kept Barry company.. well she finally convinced him that DAX just would not cut it.. Thank Goodness for Christy... DAX became Mike... whew!

We let Mike pick out the name for his baby brother.. he chose Jake.
Cameo came with her name it suited her and we kept it.. changed her middle name to Barry's mom's name.

Anna has always been Anna... :)

We have felt fortunate that our family members did not try to pressure us to use any of their requested names.. I feel bad for people who have family that pressure them to utilize "family" or their own preferred name.

DH and I had no problem coming up with girls' names, but had a heck of a time with boy names. Good thing I had 2 girls!

Natalie would have been named after DH's dad if she were a boy which I only went along with because I was too young to know any better.

Katie would have probably have been Aaron since that was the only name we could sortof agree on. I wanted James (my brother's name and dad's middle name), then I tried every single common boys name imaginable (except Robert - too similar to last name - wouldn't work). Then I got more creative - Dylan (nope, nasty neighbor kid), Connor (nope, friend named his son that), Ian (didn't like), etc. etc. etc.

It was just meant for us to have girls, otherwise we would probably have a 6 yo DS who still doesn't have a name!
