then get the dining plan closer to your trip? I am trying to prolong the total cost from growing. Yet I wonder if it matters when I book the dining res?

I don't think it matters when you get the dining plan.

For my trip that starts in less than 2 weeks I made all my reservations before I got the dining plan. I just couldn't afford the dining plan prior to the 45 days out.

I made ADR's at 180 days out, hotel reservations 88 days out (I was waiting for a discount), and added DxDP at 50 days out. As you may have surmised, it doesn't matter if you have a hotel or dining plan when you book ADR's *unless* you want to book 180+10 out. If you're content with 180 days out, you don't have to have either, as I did.

Only if you want to book a prepaid reservation (CRT or dinner shows) without paying in full for it at booking.

I made our ADRs about 2 or 3 months before I booked our package. I knew that reservations sometimes go fast and wanted to make sure we got the places the kids & DH & I wanted to go. But our circumstances are different than most. We weren't sure if he would be able to get his R&R at the time we wanted to go till about less than a month ago.

:goodvibes Thanks everyone. I wasn't sure if when you made the reservations you needed to be on the DP. This tells me I can book the reservations now and the DDP later. I appreciate the info!
