Did any of you do a "thank you for coming" or just a speech at their reception or did you manage to get by without one? I know that if I get married i'm not going to have bridesmaids and groomsmen. So there will be no typical maid of honor and best man speech. I think it is necessary that you show the guests that you appreciate them coming but does this require a little speech?

my husband did the speech at our welcome dinner thanking everyone for coming to florida. i did the speech at our wedding reception thanking everyone for being part of our special day.

a few thoughtful words to your guests would be nice/approriate.

I did a speech and so did my dh. My best advice is to write it well in advance of getting to Disney. I tried to write it the night before the wedding and I was so overwhelmed with positive emotion and appreciation for everyone coming that I could not write one word. I couldn't even write a card for my dh as I had planned. Then when I gave the speech it just came out so not as I intended and I still listen to it on the video and wish that I had written something down--if only to remember to thank our parents!!

we did a thank you to our attendants at our rehearsal dinner, and then at the wedding, we did a thank you to everyone. we didn't write it, we just winged it! especially at the wedding, we werent' planning on it, but we felt it was necessary!!
