Did your DD's dress up for the Magic Kingdom? My DD will be 3 in April and LOVES princesses. We are thinking about letting her dress up, but I cant imagine sitting in one of those dresses all day. Even with the somewhat mild temps we are gonna have this weekend, I know its gonna be hot. Im debating just taking crowns/wands. What did you do?

I would say to ask her if she wants to dress up and then, if she does, be sure to take extra clothes to change into. Monitor how she's feeling and if she's getting too hot or run down, change her into something more comfortable. I have to say I am jealous of your weather. I live in a relatively mild-weathered state, but they're calling for snow later this week. Have fun:)

Honestly, I get jealous of the cold winter weather! Especially around Christmas. 85° on Christmas day doesnt feel very Christmasy. LOL.

dd was 8 and she wanted to dress up for a dinner and a breakfast!(I was surprised as she did not want to at home- but once we got there HAD to have the yellow Belle dress...:rolleyes1 ) I brought a change of clothes- she wanted it on for the meal and that was it. I saw most doing the same thing. Those dresses are hot and itchy..why risk another reason for crying.... Enjoy though and I have the best picture of my dd in the dress in front of the waterfall in Norway! When I couldn't find it and asked dh he said "oh I have it at work" Those are magic moments that only happen at disney.

My dd4 loves to dress up. Once she is in the dress she will not take it off no matter how hot it is. I also will only let her wear gym shoes at disney. No dress up shoes or flip flops, IMHO, it is just not save.

My DD (then 5) dressed up at MK for lunch at CRT. She wore her snow white dress and a crown she bought at Tink's treasures. I I have the ultimate photo of her and Snow White hugging. The twinkle in my DD's eyes makes me bawl like a baby every time I see it.

After lunch she was MORE than happy to get out of the dress though. it was just too itchy to wear for long.

My two girls wear the minnie mouse dresses. They are short (no risk of tripping), some sort of cotton blend, and not hot. With the dress they wear minnie socks and sneakers. On one vacation my older dd wore that dress 4 days - not bad for a $55 dress- then she proceeded to wear it once a week for the next six months or so!

Thanks! She has a Cinderella costume (her fave. princess I think) that is from the Disney Store, and a dress up kit Snow White. I think we will probably bring the Cinderella just in case and extra clothes, like what was suggested.

When we went last January, DD talked me into bringing her princess and Minnie dresses and she wore them all day every day! I always had an extra change of clothes, but she never wanted to change. It makes for great pictures and lots of attention from CMs. We also met a really sweet Brazilian tourist on the monorail and she asked for her picture with Aurora. You should have seen my DD's reaction-"Mom, she thinks I'm a real princess!!!"

Hi
My DGD (3 1/2) in my signature wore her dress to 1900 Park Fare after BBB. She loves to get dressed up. She wants to wear her Ariel dress in August before we go to the Princess Storeybook Breakfast in Norway. After the breakfast, we'll have clothes for her to change into, but she might not want to change.

Don't have any daughters, but I have younger sisters, so maybe I can help.

When we went to MK, we had the Princess Breakfast scheduled for that morning. My sisters (3 and 6-ish at the time) dressed up for the breakfast, then after we were done changed to get more comfortable.

For us, it was easier having them change then having them complain about being hot or the dress being "itchy."

Depending on your daughter's comfort zone, like if she can keep her cool in the dress or freaks in it, you should decide whether or not to let her wear a dress.

If you decide not to let her wear the dress, maybe you could find an enexpensive crown for her to wear and some princess themed clothing.

Thanks everyone! Somehow, she has NO princess shirts! But she does have 2 from Big Dogs that are princess themed. One says "I didnt ask to be a princess, but if the shoe fits..." and the other says "Its not easy being a princess".

My 4 yo neice insisted she wanted to bring & wear all of her princess dresses on this last trip. Luckily we knew better & either had her clothes underneath or brought clothes with us. She wore 2 out of 5 dresses & wanted to take them off right after the meal! We also ignored the request to pack the "dress heels" she wore her Princess light up tennis the whole trip.

My DD5 always dresses up for the princess meals. Sometimes she also wants to wear the dress around the parks and I let her. I bought her a ton of princess dresses from disneyshopping.com one year on deep, deep clearance after Halloween so I don't feel an obligation to keep them clean or nice, LOL! If she drips a Mickey bar on one its no big deal.

If it drops below 70° its pretty chilly to me!

My girls only dressed up for the princess meals and one DD left her outfit on all day for her b-day. :goodvibes

My 3yo daughter loves to dress up! We try to limit her to just the character meals, but she begs to wear them all day. If it's one of the special party nights, such as MNSSH, P&PP, or MVMCP, we'll let her wear the dress for the entire event.

We bring a dress for each day-- I also stocked up when disneyshopping had a big sale. Many of the dresses are too big, so I hemmed as necessary-- I hope to get a few years out of them!

She gets so excited and feels so special when CMs compliment her.

We recently purchased the Alice dress while there-- it's probably the only washable dress she has. Not a princess one, but she loves it just the same. She wants me to find a Mary Poppins dress next.

One tip: for transporting, use large ziplock bags. Squeeze out all the air and it really compresses! It also helps contain all that glitter and will keep it clean when you carry it around.

We skip the fancy princess shoes and go for mary-jane type everyday shoes.

When you find Mary Poppins please let me know DD has been asking for this one since she has everyone else.
