Did you child become part chipmunk?

For the last few weeks DS has been taking the last bite of his food (mostly its a chewed up cracker) and keeps it in his mouth like a little chipmunk. We don't notice that hes done this untill we realize we haven't heard a peep out of him, or he just hums rather than speaks. He won't swallow it, or spit it out. We've tried giving him water, but he can swallow the water around the wad of food. It finally ends in a bunch of tears and bitten fingers about 15 mins later with DH or I sweeping it from his mouth.

Did your child do this? How did you react to it? Please tell me its just a phase. I'm afraid hes going to choke on it sometime

If he doesn't have a problem swallowing all the other bites I personally wouldn't worry about it to much. He probably thinks it is fun. Try telling him he needs to stay at the table until the last bite is gone and say nothing else to him eventually he will get bored and either swallow it or spit it out. I think this is something that will pass soon.
