Did we save on the DDP

I agree with the PP it is so nice to know you can choose anything from the menu and not have to worry about costs.

I know back home we don't spend that much on food - mostly because DF is a veggie and we find it very hard to find places that are suitable for both of us (I'm not a veggie). In WDW we know we will always find something great for both of us. So it really is a treat :)

Also, I think if we weren't getting free dining then we would definitely opt for DDP. We got it free on our last trip but we had to pay in DLRP and we were so glad be did because when our trip came around the exchange rate was awful and the meals we had pre-paid for in £UK would have cost a fortune in Euros. So it means we know exactly how much we have paid.

For example on this next trip we had DDP free and to upgrade to DxDDP was only £15/day. This was an opportunity we could not pass up as we definitely would not be eating in Signature restaurants without this and as we are in WDW for 3 weeks we will have plenty of time to take time out to really appreciate these lovely meals as we don't have to cram the parks in.

So although we wouldn't normally pay full price for this experience because of the cost we are so glad that we have the opoortunity to do so with the reduced price of upgrading as it makes our trip all the more special :goodvibes

I think that's great OP! We are going during FD this time and it was the best discount for us.

There is always going to be the age old debate about whether you would order the same things OOP. For us, that would be a big NO! But that's because of the sticker shock only. Would we want to order the same things - mostly.

We are going with a larger group, my parents and grandparents are coming with us, so we've done some creative planning which does involve sharing meals for some us so we aren't over stuffed. We also have an under 3 who loves to eat so that will help with any extra food too! We have DDP. Everyone will eat their own 1 TS per day. My dad and DH will also eat their own 1 CS per day. My mom and I and my grandparents will each share a CS meal for lunch/dinner each day. The kids will share the child CS each day plus eat some of the extras. So 7 nights with 6 adults = 42 CS. We will be in the parks for 6 days using 4 CS each day for lunch/dinner = 24 CS leaving us with 18 CS credits. We won't be using CS on arrival day, just a TS dinner since we don't get into MCO until 3:30, and we leave early enough on our departure day that we won't have time for CS either. So those extra 18 credits we will use 3 per day for breakfast so each adult couple can split one of the Bounty Platters at the resort food court. We also have 1 extra child CS that we will use at some point. If it's still left by day 6 we'll just get extra breakfast items. Our boys will mostly eat breakfast in the room as we'll bring pop-tarts, mini muffins etc. My oldest needs to eat before his medication and the little one wants to eat immediately upon getting up LOL So we can either use some snack credits if we need something for them or pay OOP as a kid's CS is fairly cheap, they can share some. Just depends on how they are feeling. My oldest is super picky any way.

That's our plan. The actual price we are paying for the DDP is $536.98 (figured as original room cost (with 35% pin) + tickets subtracted from our new toal with FD). That's 2 A and 1 C. So about $77 per day. Even better if you figure we're technically paying $90 for that photo book. Unless we ate alot in our room, did no TS, etc I just don't see us eating that cheap no matter what we ordered, we'd have to starve. I'm on vacation and I don't want to cook, we don't want to rent a car so we can eat offsite, etc.
