Did WDW purchase the Hess gas station near the Boardwalk?

I passed by there the other day, and couldn't help but notice the remarkably low gas price of $1.92. This is lower than nearly every gas station in central Florida.

That gas station has always been known for rather extreme price gouging, so I was wondering if WDW was seeing all the complaints and negativity and decided to just buy it out and use it as a kind of service for their guests.

IDK what happened, but I've been very happy with the gas prices! My husband looked at me like I was crazy when I said I was going over to Disney to buy gas (I've gone once at Boardwalk and once at Disney Springs) - but he didn't complain too much when he saw how cheap gas was!

I started staying at BWV in 2000 and always used that gas station, I thought their prices were always reasonable. I think alot of cm's use it, so they keep prices down. The ones off property by Crossroads gouge.

Speedway bought out all Hess gas stations.
Yes you're right, sorry I always think of it as the Hess station.

Do you suppose Disney had any say in the stipulations of this sale? As in price regulating? The price drop is crazy. If I'm in the area I just might go there for my gas. It's $.24 cheaper than the one I use in Dr. Phillips.

The Disney stations always seem to be on par with the stations in my area about 10 minutes away (Celebration/Kissimmee)

But I have heard from other locals who live more north of property that they will wait til fill up til they are at Disney if they can, so it seems to be a pretty regular thing

There are thousands of Hess stations throughout the US. Why would Disney get involved because one is on or near their property?

I've always found the Hess, now Speedway, stations onsite to be quite competitive with other stations in the area. When I head back to the airport, off property I usually pass a station at a 7-Eleven and another Hess/Speedway just before the FL-417/Greeneway entrance and the prices at those stations and the Disney stations are generally within a cent or two of each other. It is nice that the Disney stations are competitive...

...unlike a certain Shell station on Vineland Rd that I've seen as high as $5.99/gallon, or that Chevron (might be Mobil now) at I-4 and 535 that was also in the stratosphere...plus some others that charge 99 cents a gallon more for credit

No.

Uh....no. If Disney had had any say in the matter, the gas prices would be 50% higher and they'd be getting their share off the top. But they'd have the friendliest pump jockeys in town.

Not for things like pricing. The one thing they can and do stipulate on their property is the look of the business. Any third party has to look like a quality business and maintain that level. If they are in a theme park Disney will be firm on a Disney look. But for pricing, that's the third party's issue alone.

The prices at those stations have been among the lowest in the area for many years. That's also what my local Costco has gas for as of a couple days ago as well, on the east side of Orlando.

The Speedway stations nearby are all usually the same price as on property, it's just the local price.

And the thought of Disney buying a gas station on property and lowering prices because of guest complaints kind of made me :rotfl2:If Disney bought the gas station they would have increased prices and you'd need a FP for the pumps.

I've never noticed any "price gouging" going on at the Hess Stations. I live just a short distance away and regularly get my gas on property.

Not so. I can go to the station at World drive and pay $1.92 gallon today or the one just up 535 from me and pay $1.97 gallon.
