Did today's gain make you a DVC buyer?

After the incredible gain in the 11/13/08 stock market, I kind of felt like, what the heck, I make or lose more than enough every day to afford a small add on, so why not have some fun and buy one.

Anyone else ever have that feeling?? :woohoo:

Given that the market has been so volatile lately, one day of gains does not make me want to run out and spend money.

TVWalsh - I've got a feeling you are like me - retired and too much time on your hands. Why else would you keep starting this threads :)?

I tend to watch the market everyday in up markets only. It's more than I can handle, watching it go down. I did peek to see what you were talking about and it was only a good day if you discount the previous month!:rotfl:

You seem to really want the BLT add on, so go for it. It blows my mind that Disney is planning to raise the price. It is not on our list of things to buy!

Bobbi:goodvibes

If it went up 5,000 today I might feel a bit more confident about adding more points. However, a 550 still makes the week a negative, right?

I too am shocked Disney is increasing DVC prices, maybe DVC is paying for the buy 4 get 3 free promotion??

No. I feel just as poor this evening as I did when I woke up this morning and I'm pretty certain that my personal financial situation is unchanged.

Not really.

We do want some more points and gave serious consideration to buying more last May, but I just didn't feel like the economy was sound enough THEN, let alone now! We're paying off our debt and will pay cash for any add on, but I want to know that we can meet the necessities of life, my son's education and the ability to travel before we commit to more points. Maybe in the spring when we find out if the next administration is really going to implement the Herbert Hoover policy of raising taxes and reducing trade.

Here's hoping for a quick economic recovery.

And when the dow drops 500 points tomorrow are you going to sell what you just bought:confused3

There have been other days in the this down cycle where there were incredible, record one day gains, only to be eaten up by several days of record-breaking downslides. One day does not make a trend. DVC is a discretionary purchase.

Love these up days, but unfortunately they don't outdo the down days lately. So for now, we keep the money in the mattress. :scared:

The market downturn was the reason I bought! Just passed ROFR today. Can't wait for our first trip.

I like Warren Buffets philosophy..."Market value only matters on the day you retire" :rotfl2:

My philosophy..."Rather spend a day with the mouse than a day with wallstreet" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rolleyes1

For what I lost I could have easily added on an easy 100 points. Now I'm mad I didn't, at least I would have had additional points to show for it being gone, now I have nothing.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm who says DVC is not an investment............if I would have pulled my money out and bought some resales pts my net worth would be more than it is now:rotfl2: I could be in that 1000pt club for what I lost so far:rotfl:

Probably not the best long term strategy but the down turn of the market is getting old:sad1: :scared:

I don't look anymore, so don't know how big the up was..and won't watch tomorrow to see how low the low is
:)
