Hello Everyone,

When we went to disneyland a couple of weeks ago, it has been the first time in 10 years. My husband and I thought we saw a few added scenes at the haunted mansion. Did they do some slight changes? If so about how long ago?

Thanks,
Melissa

You & your hubby thought right! After removing the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay this past January, they made some enhancements throughout the ride, pretty much in every scene. Some more drastic than others, but DH2B and I love them and try to see if we can find anything new each time we go on it! :3dglasses :thumbsup2

When my friend and I were there a few weeks ago we rode it several times because we kept seeing new things! We thought it was just because we are usually there during the Nightmare overlay. We thought the changes we notices were really cool:woohoo:

I noticed a big change in the room with the bride. :bride: Those heads :hmghost: that used to leap up and scream used to always scare me as a kid...okay, even when I WAS'NT a kid, okay! I said it!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

They scared me too!!! I hated that part when I was a kid, and I never could predict their timing as an adult well, either. I love the new bride stuff in that room now. It explains her evil oh so much better...

Yep, me too!
I love the "new and improved" bride room. Its creepier than ever!:scared1:

My guess is that she married him for the money.

The attic is really great. When they first made the change I was not pleased with it but the more I remove my sentiments and look at the added effects, storyline and overall creepyness of the new attic I say... "bravo!"

I love the images of the black-widow wife disappearing and reappearing in the pictures and most of all I love the shadow of the henchman playing the organ in the corner... awesome!

I must say the 2006 upgrades to the attic room are indeed an upgrade. It is sometimes hard to improve a classic but in this case I think they succeeded.

i was just there this past weekend and i love the new bride room! i use to go through that place with my eyes closed because the bride scared me! i happened to take a chance this time to see if she really was that scary and it was awesome! i noticed only one other change (the dining room) but i guess that just means i need to go back on the ride again soon! :rotfl:

My husband thought this too. But I told him that I was positive there were some major changes. When we got to the bride room, he realized that it wasn't just my memory!

I have to agree with you DoomBugger... when I first saw the new bride and the changes - I wasn't thrilled...but the more I thought about it, and went on it and looked around, I think that it turned out quite well.

I just got back from DL and of course I hit the Haunted Mansion and it is really a great development the attic. If you think about it the story makes much more sense with the new attic and it really solidifies the whole backstory of the evil murderous woman.

I like to fill in the blanks myself and makeup my own story based on the ride experience (not what you can read about in books or online about the backstory) and put together more narrative to make the attraction more interesting and here is my take.

The attic story and the dining hall/graveyard ghosts are two different stories but they are linked; the old haunted house has had the evilness within it's corridors for centuries and when the woman first moved in she was normal but the house got to her and made her the husband killer. Sort of like the Shining; it was the evil house that found a way to seduce the strongest new tenant and the killings that resulted from this seduction would provide new funds and resources.

Also and most importantly the killings would provide the Haunted Mansion with a fresh influx of new ghosts who would become a part of the evil presence that controlled the mansion. The house has continued to add more ghosts over the centuries and that is why in the graveyard many of the ghosts are in period outfits. The mansion feeds on new souls, new tragedies and it spreads evil to create more lost souls that will roam the mansion for eternity. The woman in the attic who kills her husbands is just one generation of killings that have occured in the mansion over the centuries.

I know there is an official story, I am just having fun with it and finding a way to link together all the various styles of ghosts and different types of scenes that are in the Haunted Mansion!

The long and short of it I like to look at it like the house, the mansion is the haunted entity and it is what "captures"and "seduces" it's victims who wind up becoming a part of it's chaos, it's evil presence as ghosts.
