Did they ever allow that Walmart to be built in Chicago?

I always hated the fact that there were no Walmarts in the city! The closest one to use was in Niles and that place was a DUMP. It was so unbelievably crowded and the parking lot was a living nightmare. Plus, there was no easy way of taking public transportation to get there.

Jewel and Dominicks have such expensive groceries! They do have good sales, but their everyday prices were always expensive I thought. My parents started going to Aldis, but they didnt have a very large selection.

I was just wondering if they ever allowed it. I know some people were arguing about low wages and non-union, but you see so many homeless and unempoloyed people I always figured making $7.50 an hour is better than making nothing.

Anyone know whatever came of that? :confused3 I believe they wanted to build one on the West and South side....??

Plans for a Wal-Mart on the West Side are progressing. The alderman and several business people on the south side agreed to go along with them if they hired a certain percentage of neighborhood people for the construction and to work at the store. Haven't heard anything about a South Side Wal-Mart though.

Guess what? They're building ANOTHER one in Niles? Though it may be Glenview, not sure. Milwaukee and Golf - It's going to be where the Kmart was - across from Four Flaggs, kiddie corner from Golf Mill.

I'm sure it'll be dumpy too.
