Been going to the park over 40 years now and knew a lot about the history and such. But this tour was more than I had imagined!
Great insight to the ideas Walt had and how those ideas were carried out after he was gone. Smaller details that sounded vaguely familiar were explained very well while some other details were brushed over.
Downside that everyone has mentioned is the omission of viewing his apartment and Club 33. The Dream Suite is nice and knowing it was in his plans was a consolation, but still would have loved to peek inside the club.
Overall, the three-plus hour tour and lunch was worth the price. We may do another tour next visit.

Why couldn't you visit the apartment? I'm planning on doing the tour and that would be a deal breaker for me.

I booked this tour for 2/12 and was told the Apartment is still not back on the rotation due to renovations in "the area". I too wished the apartment and club 33 were on the tour, but I am sure I will enjoy myself anyway.

I heard that Walt's apartment is no longer available on the tour because it is not handicap accessible.

I can understand why Club 33 is no longer on the tour. The old lobby was separate from the restaurant, because it was downstairs, and a tour could easily slip in and out without the dining guests knowing. The new Club is not set up that way.

Has anyone done the horticulture/landscaping tour? I'm not sure what it's called, but it looks like fun.

We did the landscaping tour a couple of years ago - Cultivating the Magic I think it was called. It was really interesting and different.

After doing this tour, my wife really wants to go on the cultivating the magic. It seems like it would be a good one to take. Even our guide said it is a great tour.

Thanks for the review.

I've been debating which tour(s) to try on my upcoming trip.

I'd love to do Walk in Walt's Footsteps but without Walt's Apt. I'm not sure it's worth it, though I'd love to see the Dreams Suite. Can you share what rides you went on? (I'm mainly curious since Peter Pan is under refurbishment)

I'm also intersted in Cultivating the Magic so it's nice to hear that your guide recommended it.

I asked the tour guides a couple of weeks ago about Walt's Apartment, and was told that that would no longer be a part of the tour, as well as a visit to Club 33. Personally, I think it had more to do with the wear & tear of the apartment than the ADA reason, but that is just my opinion.

We went on the Cultivating the Magic tour when it first opened, and I really enjoyed it. I would recommend it.

I can understand the reasons.... My DS (10) was Sooo looking forward to it on our upcoming March trip. I will wait to see what reports of the new tour are like before we commit. We can find something else to splurge on I am sure!!! Lol

Our tour included Peter Pan, Disneyland Railroad and Great moments with Mr. Lincoln. With PP being down, I don't know what they will substitute.
Don't let the lack of the apt and 33 dissuade you. It really is a great tour even without these.

Thanks! Now I just need to decide on which day.

thank you so much for writing this I was curious about this tour! Can you please share more details on the lunch and what it included?

I'm glad that my tour included Walt's apartment & Club 33, but even had it been without them it would have been a good tour. Disney tours are a little addictive in my opinion. I have done 2 at WDW and the Walk at DL. When we go to DL in Paris I plan to do a tour there too.

I'm glad I read this thread. I was hoping to cross off the apartment from my all time Disney bucket list but it looks like that won't happen now. I never heard until now that they stopped doing this.

The lunch was from Jolly. They offer a choice of about four sandwiches and a couple salads. It also come with house made chips a dessert and drink. It's right off of their menu and on a reserved part of their patio but without the wait.
I had the turkey sandwich and my wife had the caprese sandwich. We both ordered the chocolate cake for dessert and we could have shared one of them! So rich and so big it was too much for both of us to finish.

However if you wish to see the original furnishings of the apartment, (the ones in the Apartment are copies) they are in the Lobby of The Walt Disney Family Museum (in San Francisco), so come up and visit us in NorCal!! :)

I was only interested in this tour because of the apartment. Didn't they raise the price and then tell us but it includes Walt's apartment? That would have been worth it for me. Probably won't do this one then. I would like to try one of the holiday ones though.
I took the Keys to Kingdom tour at MK and loved it.

Wait. Dream Suite is on the tour now? I took this tour twice before and saw the Club 33 lobby and Walt's Apartment (and rode the Lilly Belle). So apart from dining in 33, the dream suite is the last thing on my bucket list. Is this always part of the tour now? If so I'm gonna have to do it in March.

My DW and DS were looking at doing this tour but when they heard that Walt's apartment had been removed from the tour they were doubtful that they would want to go. Maybe if the Dream Suite is part of it they may change their mind......they may have to re-think this now.:thumbsup2

I guess I'm not that thrilled about seeing the Dream Suite. It's not like I get to spend the night there. Now that would be amazing. I'm sure it looks really cool, but it isn't the same as staying there. If someone offered to show me, I wouldn't turn it down, but it isn't enough to make me want to take the tour. Seeing Walt's apartment would be interesting because I'd like to see where he stayed while at DL.
