Hi Everyone... I just wanted to run something by you that happened to me and my hubby on our last trip to WDW... We had reservations at the contemporary for 4 nights.. While I was planning our trip I found this website and all of the great tips and advice that it provides :) ... So long story short , I faxed a room request to the room assigner a few days before arriving requesting a king size bed and said that I was so happy to be able to go to WDW with my husband since we had never had our honeymoon since he was deployed with the Army for our 1st year of marriage due to the war... Anyway upon arriving we were told at check in that we were upgraded to the " honeymoon suite".... I was thrilled of course and loved our room.... The thing is now that I am constantly reading all of the posts on here it just occured to me that I think that the front desk guy was lying to us because we we in the garden wing ( north I think ) the one closest to MK... and our room appeared to look like everyone elses in that building.... Either way , the room did have a king size bed which is all we had really wanted .Although we had a great trip and the room was lovely I can't help but wonder if the Contemporary has a honeymoon suite in the wing area of the hotel or if the front desk guy was just telling us what we wanted to hear.... Any thoughts? Take Care! and Happy New Year ~ Janet

The only thing different in the honeymoon suite is a king bed and a jetted tub, otherwise the rooms are the same.

On our last visit we noticed the North Garden Wing honeymoon suite as we walked on the beach; it was located three rooms and one floor up from hours. It was a corner room. The happy couple had decorated it with "Just Married" signs and balloons. It had a lovely view of the Magic Kingdom and some buzzards on the beach.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.. As I said earlier we did have a king sized bed, but the bathtub wasn't jetted... The room overlooked the walkway by the playground...It also had 2 sets of sliding glass doors..... Hmmm , I really wonder now if it was the honeymoon suite because I thought it looked exactly like all of the other rooms on the 2nd floor... Oh well, anymore comments? please share

I work at the front desk in a hotel. Yep he might have. Its hard to explain so that people who aren't desk agents understand.

You aren't going to know any better and it sounds good. It also makes him look good because your happy.

If that is the case, I think that's rather deceitful. I've stayed at the contemporary for almost every stay at WDW and have also faxed room requests. They normally tell me nothing is available and have no problem with saying such. I couldn't begin to speculate, but I personally was not aware of a honeymoon suite. That doesn't mean one doesn't exist, but it sounds as though your room was a standard garden view. Oh well. As long as you had a good time and congrats on your marriage! Thank your husband for us for protecting our country!

Is the garden view rooms those little 2-3 story buildings on the side of the contemperary?

And I agree with what cmonroe said about your hubby....

He's a wonderful, brave man, and so is all our soldiers over in Iraq!!!

God Bless him!!!!!

When Shades of Green was being rehabbed, we stayed at the Contemporary and were upgraded to what they called a junior suite. It was a huge corner room just above (or below, I can't remember) the Shades of Green office in the Contemporary. It had a large dining area with table and chairs, a king-sized bed, a large bath with separate tub, shower and commode areas, a mini-bar, a long closet, two large window walls, a sofa bed, lounge chair, and lots of floor space. It was in the North Garden Wing (one of those two large wings heading off at an angle from the multi-story center tower where the monorail runs.
It was just two of us in the room, so we had tons of extra space, but we felt like royalty with all those nice amenities. It may also be referred to as the Honeymoon Suite, but they called it a junior suite. We didn't know until we actually went to the room that we had been upgraded. I immediately ran down to the front desk and thanked the CM who had upgraded us!
We did visit with some friends who had a regular room on the ground floor, and their room was much smaller than ours, so maybe it's as TaurusSES_Sport says, the honeymoon suite is like a regular room only with a king bed instead of two queens.

Do you remember your room number? If so call the CR and ask if that room is considered a suite.

Take Care
Jamie

He may have been new. He may not have known better or just made an honest mistake.

I thought they weren't even taking room requests anymore (is this old/new news?) so it's great you got the King room! :cool1: I'm glad you had a nice time, deceived or not.:)

As long as they didn't charge you extra, I would not complain. He may have "stretched the truth" to make you feel special.

Hello... Sorry for my delay in responding, I have been away for the holidays.. I wanted to thank you guys for the kind words on my brave hubby :) I appreciate it. Also , I do wish I could remember my room # but honestly I guess it doesn't really matter since it was a while ago. My original reason for the post was to just see if there was actually a honeymoon suite in the north wing area... If the CM just told me what we wanted to hear , than that is fine I guess because the room was really nice and spacious for the 2 of us.. So I really have no reason to complain about it at all ..Especially since we were not charged extra... I can kind of see why the front desk would have said that it was the honeymoon suite just to make us happy, but in a way that seems kind of like a deceitful thing to do. I think with any customer service job though ,that is kind of a given thing to do at times to make the costumer feel special...Oh well , I would stay there again and be delighted just to be that close to the MK :) .. Thanks again for the input.. Happy New Year! ~ Janet

FYI ... there are some photos of the suites at the Contemporary Resort at *********** . com. I'm not sure if they are the honeymoon suites, but take a look and compare.

I work at the front desk in a hotel.

There is no difference between a honeymoon suite other than the jetted tub and kingsize bed from the other rooms. You were not tricked.

No comment on weather your room was honeymoon or not but tell you Husband Thank you for Seving our country it takes bravery. and Thank You Its probbably really hard being an Army wife knowing He was over in a war. Your a Brave woman as well. Good Luck to you and your husband in life to come.
