Did something change post-pandemic?

I've read on here many times that if you pour some water in the drains the bad smell will go away. There's something in them that gets dried out and causes the horrible smell. We haven't had it happen on any of our cruises, but I've seen it posted about on here.

If the trap dries out, then the poo gases can come back up:scared:

Whenever somebody does a dining report about "steak being over/under cooked" I ignore it as this is so subjective. Your over/under cooked might be how others like it
Also, in my experience if you tell your service team that the steak isn't cooked to your liking they'll get you a replacement. That's the thing about main dining - if you're not happy with something they're usually more than happy to try to remedy the situation.

just curious what amentities you find missing on the Wonder, we have the wonder booked and love her. But maybe we dont expect much.. I like the calm, classic vibe.
The wife and I both love the two classics and don't have any desire to be on any of the larger ships. We just feel that the smaller ships give us a better overall experience, due to having less passengers aboard. It just feels more intimate.

With that being said, we have not been on either of the Dream or Fantasy and don't have any plans to be on either one. So we don't feel that we are missing anything. We also don't have a desire to be on the Wish, so for us we look for Itineraries that we want to do that invoice either the Magic or Wonder.

I'm not sure what you mean about not being "allowed" to say anything negative - there are plenty of posts on here about things people don't like or bad experiences people have had. There are just on average more positive experiences.

I'm sure some of these things do vary from sailing to sailing, and I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your trip (my family sailed Alaska in June and had a great time). I'm just curious what specifically about the ship was so egregious to you that you think the Wonder needs to be retired? (other than the Wifi, which I grant I've heard is a joke - we didn't purchase it as we want to disconnect on a cruise) I thought the ship looked beautiful, so I'm genuinely curious what stood out to you.
I was on the Wonder in April for the Mexican Riviera and also felt that, besides the wifi, there was really nothing that was lacking. My only issue with the Wonder is how strong the vibration from the engines is in the main dining rooms, particularly Tiana's Place, but that might have had to do with the itinerary and the speed of the ship as I don't remember experiencing that issue when we were on the Wonder for our Alaska cruise. She is a small, older ship, but from my perspective DCL has done a great job keeping her updated and looking nice.

Good point - I think we did that previously a couple times (I think we had to do it more on RCL hahaha) but I recall them being pretty accommodating.

Sometimes I'll order something just to try it, and they want so badly to get me something else if I don't end up liking it. Or if I don't finish an entree they want to get me a new/different one and I have to explain it's fine, I'm just not that hungry!

We had a similar problem - in our case it was my wife and I ordering 3-4 different entrees so we could "try" them out. I probably ate most of it. Explains how I've literally and permanently gained 5lbs after each cruise. Back in 2011 I weighed 135lbs at the beginning then 140lbs when I came back. 2014 I was at 140lbs and went to 145lbs. 2016 (RCL) I was 145lbs and went to 150lbs. 2019 I was at 150lbs and went to 155lbs. Right now I'm just under 155lbs LOL!

I know. You just want to cry out “Please stop feeding me! I’m too full!”🤣

Hey everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and while everybody keeps saying how well she's held together I'm not talking about the steel structure of the ship. I'm talking about what compared to say a Holland America cruise that was on the same basic itinerary as ours, even cruised into Hubbard glacier as we were leaving, what am I paying for Disney premium? It sure wasn't the guest service and food which were subpar. I don't use the water slide but if I did there is no Aquaduck, no midship detective agency, no mini golf or something similar. Yay free soda and ice cream that are attacked and destroyed by the teenagers! I mean I guess I'm not understanding what is the "classic ships" Disney premium? Besides meeting some characters, the Broadway shows, which are great, the ship is small, outdated technology, poor buffet etc. Great you want a classic ship that's your opinion but if i'm going to get a classic ship that I feel the 1990's called and want they're shipped back I can go on holland america for almost half the price.

You're right, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I only really talked about the atmosphere in the post you're responding to (and hey, I even mentioned a negative regarding the vibration!), but I guess I'll just also say that I didn't feel that the buffet or the food in the MDRs was "subpar," and the brunch and dinner we had a Palo were both excellent. The soda and ice cream were also never in a state of disrepair on either of the cruises I've taken on the Wonder. We also had a good experience with all of the cruise staff we encountered. That said, this was my experience.

People choose things for their own reasons, and clearly the smaller Disney ships are no longer providing what you want. I don't know why I specifically was chosen for your response here, as I didn't say anything that several other people who have sailed on the Wonder recently haven't also said upthread. If the Wonder and Magic are no longer for you, fine, but those two ships were old before the pandemic even started, so nothing mentioned here has anything to do with the original topic of if anything has changed post-pandemic.

Okay, retired might be a bit much, but here's my perspective. It needs to not be used for such a premium cruise or cruise brand or charge such a premium price. The ship is almost 25 years old and feels like stepping into 1999 with its amenities. I feel it has Carnival or Norwegian amenities for Disney premium price. Compared to the Wish, Dream and Fantasy I guess i'm saying it should not be under the "disney brand" when it's a Carnival or Norwegian ship.
I guess this is just a case of these things being very subjective! I don't have any newer ships to compare the Wonder to (and won't for a while - our next cruise is on the Magic), but I didn't feel things were worn-out or appeared to be in a state of disrepair. I just saw the decor as "classic", not "out-of-date" and enjoyed the amenities available 🤷‍♀️

I was on the same cruise. It was very crowded. Our head server said it was 4300 passengers. But I thought it was manageable, and I'm not someone to be good with crowds. I didn't experience any of the other problems listed. Disembarkation in Copenhagen was a cluster, but my understanding from CM is that it was because the port authorities took longer to sign off on the ship than expected/usual.
Our server told us 3700. Do they just make these numbers up?

I have to say, we too had a wonderful cruise. Yes, there were a few hiccups/growing pains but overall, we were very pleased with our sailing.

This right here. One night on this very cruise my husband's steak wasn't cooked properly. The server came over to check on us and my DH politely said it wasn't cooked right. They happily took it away and brought him back one that was cooked to perfection and he enjoyed it very much. Everyone was happy.

Hmm, I wonder if maybe part of it is the ship was overbooked due to it being the tail end of summer (so more people have traveling) coupled with the first summer with probably much less restrictive COVID travel policies. He made it sound like it was extra crowded everywhere on the ship though. I can definitely see that being the case in Cabanas. Maybe the pools and workout rooms were all crowded too and they didn't like that part either). He has been on other cruises before so it's not like the concept is new to him.
I was on the 10 day sailing and it was definitely not overbooked. It felt crowded because it was so cold on the upper decks because we were sailing into the arctic circle that everyone stayed indoors for dining and activities. The pool deck was never crowded and no one wanted to sit out there to eat so inside Cabanas it was hard to find seating. They also weren’t swimming in the pools either. They had a lot of different activities to fill all the sea days and we had an amazing time on the cruise. The food wasn’t any different than on other DCL sailings. Some of the menus nights selections were better than others, but it was still good. I will say that the Liverwurst spread as accompaniment to bread service we had one night was definitely an interesting one. We had an amazing cruise and made wonderful memories with our family. It’s so interesting to read everyone’s different experiences and perspectives while sailing DCL. It would have to be really bad for me to not enjoy myself, I’m on a ship and I don’t have to cook or clean which is enough for me 😊

Not the drain (as in the sink or shower), but the small grate that's over the trap on the floor.

that's true for all drains. Same thing happens in your house if you go away on vacation for too long or don't use the drain for ages.

I don't think anyone in Australia will care much about the Wonder being "old" they're just happy she is making a trip here.
Although I wonder how many are going to freak out now the dollar has dropped even lower overnight - it's going to make the already extreme pricing for the Australian cruises even more expensive now.

If you havent noticed from your replies, you're not allowed to say anything negative about Disney or Disney cruise line. It's all lollipops and rainbows!! I will get destroyed for this post by the dont dare insult my precious Disney crowd but oh well,
I think that's being a little overly snarky, I'm sorry your cruise was not up to your expectations, but because someone else has a good experience, that's no reason to imply that they are not able to make their own reasonable assessment and anything good they say is because they are effectively brainwashed. You had a bad experience, My recent one was very good and I did not see any degradation of service or food. You detailed what was bad or not up to par. I accept that that was your experience, but to imply that anyone who says differently must be deluded is a bit too far.
