Did Rush Limbaugh really say.....

Yes, he really said that. And it was not out of context. He and Hannity just can't accept Obama as their President. Such hatred from them! :sad2:

Is it possible Rush and Hannity want Obama's what-they-believe-to-be Obama's socialist policies to fail in order to preserve what they believe to be a better system?

I have a hard time believing they want the country to fall into chaos due to Obama. I believe they just feel strongly against some of his policies.

I can't stand Hannity, but I love Rush.

Indeed, if you want to find out what Rush said during his morning show, simply scan this message board in the afternoon and you will find his thoughts posted by others as their own. It is quite interesting, really.

Too true...I'll listen to his show a couple times a week on the way to lunch and know for a fact that a few of our resident conservatives never fail to disappoint! Of course, they typically claim never to listen, which is a disconnect that I'll never understand.

Yes indeed! My jaw would drop if one of our resident conservatives actually admitted that the opinion they are uttering they heard on Rush that day.

I guess "not fiddling" was a poor choice of terms, as the President does plan on signing FOCA and I'm fairly certain Sen. McCain would not have. I think a better statement would have been that both men agreed in spirit, with upholding the basic tenets of Roe v. Wade. McCain may not have been interested in codifying the precedent, but he wasn't interested in making it unconstitutional either.

Question - is this true about the FOCA?

"Laws allowing medical staff and hospitals to refuse to perform abortion on grounds of conscience will be struck down."

I can't imagine that is 1) really in the act and 2) would ever withstand a constitutional test.

FOCA is VERY broad and will have far reaching consequences:

FOCA provides that “t is the policy of the United States that every woman has the fundamental right to choose to bear a child, to terminate a pregnancy prior to fetal viability, or to terminate a pregnancy after fetal viability when necessary to protect the life or health of the woman.”

Further, FOCA would specifically invalidate any "statute, ordinance, regulation, administrative order, decision, policy, practice, or other action" of any federal, state, or local government or governmental official (or any person acting under government authority) that would "deny or interfere with a woman's right to choose" abortion, or that would "discriminate against the exercise of the right . . . in the regulation or provision of benefits, facilities, services, or information."

What is sad about Rush is all the theatrics, and huffing and puffing, and inflammatory garbage that comes out of his mouth is all done for ratings. He is no better that Howard Stern, or any other shock jock. They rile people up and make tons of money doing it. :sad2:

What gets me is I listen to Rush(for as long as I can stomach him) and Hannity basically to hear the other side. I believe it keeps me honest. But so many people who listen to them take their word for everything and don't even bother to fact check what is said. There are a lot of half truths, misinformation, and complete BS coming from these guys, but their listeners bite hook line and sinker:confused3 .

Not a fan of Rush, but many on the other side, liberal, only listen to what they are being told as well and do not check facts. There is just as much misinformation coming from Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews if you do bother to check the facts. I think BOTH sides are guilty of this.

I too do not want many of Obama's policies to succeed, they are not what I voted for, why would I want them to succeed :confused3 I wish no ill will to him, or our country or my fellow Americans, but I don't agree with his policies so I am hoping that Congress keeps him in check.

I don't know if it's in the act, but I agree with you that if it is, that portion would probably be deemed unconstitutional on religious grounds.

That's why I force myself to get the "other side" of things. But I gotta tell you, when they start with the silly talk and ranting and half truths, it really hurts their sides credibility.

I have no issue with an opposing view-I am always interested in that. But when you spew misinformation, lies and half truths for ratings-well I guess I lose complete respect.

He squandered it with many of us on right as well with his pandering far too much to the liberal agenda!

When you say "liberal" agenda, I hope you don't mean "Democratic". Other than the bailout in the final months of his presidency, he didn't borrow and spend the country into oblivion on a whole lot of Democratic programs, I can promise you that! His Republican counterparts in Congress happily went along for the ride.

but show me a perfect person, and I will show you a liar.

So true!

I thought that now that Barack Obama was elected that I would see so much more tolerance from certain posters, but I see Iam wrong, once again. Oh, well.

I agree with you, the half truths do hurt credibilty but I think both sides are guilty of that. I think the two I mentioned before, Keith Olbermann(especially known for his dramatics and ranting) and Chris Matthews, rant and rave for ratings and sometimes do not have all their facts straight either.

DH and I listen to a lot of stuff from both sides and many times just shake our heads at the misinformation out there and yet bc the main stream media says it it must be true.:confused3

I believe what Rush is saying ( as are many many conservatives) is that they hope that he fails at bringing some of his policies to fruition. Many of us who did not vote for Obama feel very strongly that a failure of some of his ideas would be success for the country. Most of us are wholeheartedly against universal healthcare, against further bailouts (we wern't for the first ones), and against the FOCA, against closing Gitmo, etc. All of these "failures" are really success in our eyes.

I guess it all depends on how you look at things. I do not believe for a second that Rush wants this country to fall apart any more than any other citizen.

You stated it perfectly for me. :thumbsup2

My problem with Rush Limbaugh is that he is heard all over the world by our troops and he just said that he hopes their Commander in Chief "Fails".

This is really nothing more than aiding the enemy. To me he is no different than Tokyo Rose or Axis Sally.

It's obvious that he hates America and only works for the global corporate interests who pay his salary.

I don't understand what the big deal is whether a person does or doesn't listen to Rush, Hannity, Matthews, Olbermann, Oprah (hehe) etc etc......

Personally, I could care less.

I am not big on talking points from whoever/wherever. That is for the left.

Example:

Google- "Geithner" and "honest mistake" or try "Inauguration" and "amazing" and get back to me.......;)

Yet, Rush still gets under their skin..........

I love it!

I mean the liberal agenda, regardless of who is going along with it, and there are far too many Republicans in that list.

as in No Child Left Behind, co-authored by Ted Kennedy.
as in Prescription Drug entitlements.
as in the 2007 Illegal Immigration amnesty bill.
etc...

Do you have a headache from all that spinning??
