Did Rush Limbaugh really say.....

This is very true. My Dh and I were talking about this last night. He was a Republican most of his life, as his parents were. He grew up in a very affluent, very conservative town.

All this right wing, intolerant, Religious fanaticism has turned him completely around and his 84 year old Mother as well. His Dad just snorts.

This is not the same Republican party it used to be
.

You are completely right!!! I grew up in a conservative household. But, it was based on fiscal conservativism, not the crazy ideas of the religious right trying to put their foot in everything. This election, every one of my family (besides my libertarian brother :confused3) voted democratic. They felt a need to distance themselves from the divide of the Republican party. Of course, they also believed highly that Obama's policies would help our country most. It's almost as if there are two Republican parties.

No doubt. He has four years of new material.

For Rush is does not matter who the president is. There always enough idotic things going in in DC for his material. He didn't shut down during the last four years did he?

I don't disagree. However, from what I understand, even though he got the mega contract, his show has beginning to show signs of weakness. In this poor economy, a large number of smaller station can no longer afford to pay the exorbitant fees that it takes to air his show. If anything could have helped, it was the election of an honest to goodness punching bag for Rush's occasionally cynical audience. With his message of hope and change, the President is the perfect foil for Rush's barbs, and could help some struggling radio stations find enough listeners to obtain the advertising to continue to carry the show.

What certainly would hurt, was the election of a President and Congress who seem to be determined to throw away free speech and silence the opposition with insanely named Fairness Doctrine.

I don't know, but I can tell you how the elections are turning out..:lmao:

Yes, because obviously the election of a Democrat after 8 years of a Republican means that Conservatism is dead and we will never have another Republican President again. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Please. I mocked the people who said that the Country had gone totally right and Liberalism is dead back when Bush beat Gore and I'll do it again now they other way.

The fact is that Rush is EXTREMELY popular and (in my opinion) entertaining to millions of people and it doesn't matter WHO is in the White House. I know it pains the other side that they can't find anyone to be radios answer to Rush and Hannity so I guess the thing to do is attack them any chance they get. Seriously. Yeah, Rush had a problem, but show me a perfect person, and I will show you a liar.

Agreed. But is the Freedom of Choice Act really "not fiddling" with Roe v. Wade (just curious - I really don't know, but it sounds like it is)?

I guess "not fiddling" was a poor choice of terms, as the President does plan on signing FOCA and I'm fairly certain Sen. McCain would not have. I think a better statement would have been that both men agreed in spirit, with upholding the basic tenets of Roe v. Wade. McCain may not have been interested in codifying the precedent, but he wasn't interested in making it unconstitutional either.

Thanks for picking my post out of the many others when all I said was that I'm not surprised by anything that he would say for ratings. No, I didn't listen to it as I don't purposely fill my brain with the insignificant ramblings of a bumbling buffoon. I stand by my post, and you are more than welcome to stand by yours.

BTW: this is not inflamatory against anyone who choses to listen to him. JMO on the man, who is a celebrity and in being one, must expect that he will have some people who don't like him. :flower3:

I picked out your post because you mentioned that you were not surprised by what he says for ratings, I was just pointing out that this particular comment was surely not done for that. I happened to see him on Hannity last night and heard exactly what he said, he made perfect sense (as a conservative). I was just saying that before you make your judgement you should have listened to his entire answer before jumping to conclusions as to why he said that he hoped Obama failed.

FTR I don't like him either and never listen to him but dh was watching Hannity last night and I just so happen to catch the interview. I heard what he said, the entire answer and for him, it was an honest answer to a loaded question. He is damned by his side if he says he doesn't want Obama to fail and he is damned by the other side if says he does.

I believe that the President has gone on record as not in favor of reimposing the Fairness Doctrine on radio broadcasters, but I could be wrong.

My response was in reply to your comment about Air America vs Rush Limbaugh..Spin much?

I can understand the dislike of the religious aspect of the Republican party. But fiscal conservatism and Obama are like oil and water. Fiscal Conservatives did not have a viable candidate in this election.

We are the USA. We should talk to our friends first.

Our troops are in Iraq, not the West Bank.

Do you have any idea where Iraq is in relation to Gaza. Do you not think that calling the Palestine president and discussing what is going on in that region not being proactive?

I did.

Then Katrina came, and I lost all hope of him doing something right.

Any animosity towards the Democrat Governor and Democrat Mayor who failed miserably in their responsibilities leading up to and in the immediate aftermath of Katrina?? It was their responsibility to oversee and complete the evacuation of NOLA, urged by President Bush days in advance. It was their responsibility to request Federal help, which they were slow to do.

Oh for crying out loud. How many of you liberals wished George Bush well and hoped he succeeded? :rolleyes2

He had a 90% approval rating after 9/11 and completely and totally squandered it!!

President Obama does not support the Freedom doctrine. He supports many owners as opposed to to a monopoly of radio stations. He feels that more ownership will lead to more diversity and a more varied perspective.

Don't believe everything Rush tells you. Do your homework and get your own answers.

I just read that some Cons think Gitmo is housing the people who caused 9/11 and what a horrible thing to do to their loved ones to bring them all here. I am a loved one and I think Gitmo must be shut down immediately.

Why the heck are we housing prisoners in Cuba?

Well, the Governor was defeated by Bobby Jindall, Republican, who also criticized the Federal response.

George Bush, the Decider. The ultimate responsibilty rest on him. He failed beyond belief.

I do not listen to Rush. I hope that he does right by ALL americans not jus the ones who pay no taxes. As of now the policies he is toting will be a huge failure and really hurt this country at a very critical time. I am for his infrastructure work but now more money for education. We have places that spend $15K per pupil and they want more?

Did Rush Limbaugh really say "I hope Obama fails":faint: I just heard a brief clip.

Please say this was taken out of context. PLEASE!

I am not a big fan of Obama. But, I pray that he succeeds:angel: I pray he proves me wrong. I want him to prove those who did not vote for him wrong. We all win if he does that::yes::

Who would want our President to fail? Who would be that idiotic?

Again, please correct me and tell me Rush was taken out of context:blush:

I actually was listening to Rush on Monday, January 19th, when he began talking about this (it was during the first hour).

Rush said (paraphrase from memory) "Now, you are going to be asked by liberals "Do you want Obama to fail?" Your answer would be 'yes', you do hope that Obama fails; that he fails to make our great country a socialist paradise; that he fails in destroying our Armed Forces, ..." etc.

If you wish to see the list of items cited by Rush, simply find the thread herein entitled 'do you hope obama fails' (or like that, begun Monday evening, I believe). Several posters cited Rush's reasons (without, of course attributing the thoughts to Rush, but claiming the reasons as the product of their own mind).

Indeed, if you want to find out what Rush said during his morning show, simply scan this message board in the afternoon and you will find his thoughts posted by others as their own. It is quite interesting, really.
