"Did Pluto Just Give You A Lap Dance?" 10 days of Naughty & Nice!

See how retarded I am- didn't even know I had a PM. I will call you when I get off work tonight around 5:30.

Jo - I figured you were not the most up to date on how to find the P.M.'s on line since you do not post as often as others. I am not the most fond of the newest system they have anyway - the old way would let you know as soon as you logged on (almost obnoxiously) the new way send you no warning. Ya gotta look for it.

Went to Yankee Candle Co. today after visiting the budget boards - there is a Yankee thread and there is a lady on there who works for Yankee and offered people her ability to take advantage of the Friends and Family sale going on today and tom. Spent some Disney money but they will go as Christmas gifts. Can't beat 50% off candles! If you are interested - seek her out on that thread. She was beyond helpful! :worship:

Off to make dinner!

A quick fly by! Wanted to let you guys know who may be in need of a shopping spree or live in the midwest that I am going to help coordinate a meet in October!

Here is the link for it!

Good Morning - I am in clean and Halloween decorate mode right now and then I will post a new thread later!

Have a Great Day everyone!

I hope it all turns out okay. I have been silently following your trip report and am so sorry that Baylor and your family had to go through so much with his burn. You seem to have such an amazing family, thank you for sharing them with us and I love your sense of humor.

Thanks for caring and I am glad you think I am funny. Cause most people think I am crazy
It just seems like this week is the world has gone crazy! Just got a call from the school - Baylor was sitting in class and a boy walked up to him and proceeded to punch him in the ear a few times because Baylor is friends with his girlfriend.

It does not matter that Baylor and our whole family have been friends with their family as well as the girl and her twin sister since Baylor was 3.

I am off to start the next installment!

Day 4 - "Were you Born Stupid?"

Sunday - December 7th, 2008

We were able to sleep in a bit this morning. Our plans were to pack up our belongings and move to our new home at OKW.

As we were packing up our stuff at the condo, Carsyn came running inside after taking out the trash.

It seemed there was a baby raccoon trapped in the huge dumpster. Treyner and Baylor went out to investigate and offer their professional opinion since they had seen "Saving Silverman." (If you have not seen that movie - rent it. Funny dumb humor at it's finest.)

Huey and Duey come up with a plan to let the poor thing escape. They concocted a ramp with a branch they found - hoping to let it climb out. :thumbsup2

We finished packing and checked on the little critter. It had not climbed out - it looked weak and I was starting to panic on what was going to happen to him when the garbage truck came the next day. :scared1:

So I started the phone call chain. I thought it may take 1-2 calls to find out who to talk to - no such luck. :sad2:

First call - local police department.

********************************************************************

"Hello, XYZ Police non emergency. How can I assist you?"

"Yes, my name is Dawn and I am staying at 9872 Vista Drive. It is a condo complex and there is a baby raccoon trapped in a dumpster."

"Are you sure it is a raccoon."

"Umm...yes...as sure as I can be."

"How can you not be sure?"

"Well, I am not from here and so I may not know all types of local animals but in Minnesota, it would be called a raccoon."

"How do you know it is trapped.":confused3

"Because it can't get out. It can't climb steel and we have tried to put a piece of wood in there to let it climb out and it is too weak to move."

"How long has it been there?"

"I do not know."

"Why do you not know?"

"Because we have not visited the dumpster in our tour of the complex before today.":snooty:

"So you do not know how long the said raccoon has been in the dumpster?"

"No. I cannot confirm its date of entry."

"Are you sure it is a baby?"

"Yes."

"How do you know?"

"Because it was wearing a diaper and had a binkie in it's mouth ya freaking loon." :teacher:

(okay I did not say that but I was thinking it.)

"Because it is small."

"What county do you live in?"

"I do not live here so I am not sure what county this is. Can you not tell me that based on the address I gave you?"

"I suppose I can look it up."

She then told me the county and asked me to call animal control she gave me the number. I wanted to ask her if she was bored because why the 2 million questions like I am Jacque Cousteau or Grizzly Adams if I had to then talk to animal control.

Next call -

"Hi - I am staying at 9872 Vista Drive - there is a baby raccoon trapped in the dumpster here at the complex."

"Is this an emergency?"

"Well not at the moment but the garbage is due to be picked up tom. morning. At that point the raccoon might think it is an emergency."

"Who is the garbage service?"

"I do not know."

"Can you find out?"

"Sure - please wait while I truck my butt down 2 flights of stairs and across the lot to the dumpster."

So as I am huffing and puffing across the lot to find out that the signage for the dumpster is torn and I cannot make it out. How did I not guess that this would be my luck?

"The sign is torn."

"You cannot read it?"

"No - hence the fact it is torn."

"Is there a serial number for the dumpster inside?"

Are you people serious? I am just a citizen calling in for my good deed of the day. I am not Magnum P.I., I am not Dog the Bounty Hunter and I am not dumpster diving on vacation to possibly retrieve a serial number while warding off a possibly rabid, baby racoon. :mic:

"Can't see one."

"Okay - well are you sure it is still alive. It is Sunday."

Do they stop breathing on Sunday's in general around here? I mean do they carry their blackberry with them while scavenging and decide  today is a good day to die when they realize it is a Sunday? What happens if they feel the urge to die on a Tuesday?

"Nope - can't die today Hal, gotta wait till Sunday."

"Yes, I can see his eyes and they are moving. I am sorry this is not your normal workday. Maybe you should let he police department know you do not want to rescue animals on Sunday's so they do not pass out your number. You should probably advertise you are an animal rescue agency Monday through Saturday so animals know to not get in trouble on Sundays."

**I did really say this because now - we are 40 minutes into a call that at home would have taken 2.

"You need to call a different number. This lady specializes in raccoons and other marsupials."

Again - 3rd number to call and this lady was a nut as well.

"Hi - this is my 3rd call in an hour. I am on vacation. I do not normally live here. I found a baby raccoon trapped in a dumpster. There is no number to call the garbage company and I was told by animal control to call you."

"Are you sure it is alive?":faint:

"Yes."

"Well I live about 2 hours away from there. If I leave will you be there to show me where it is at?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"Because I am on vacation and we are checking out today and have plans."

"What are you doing?"

"I am getting my bikini area waxed." :headache:

**Ok - I did not say that either but I should have.

"We are going to WDW."

"So you won't be there for sure."

"Yes, my family is in the car as we speak and looking like they want to kill at this point so I am pretty sure we will not be here."

"Will the raccoon still?"

"It did not tell me it had other plans."

"Well I suppose I can head up there if you think it will still be there."

**************************************************************************************

That is how it ended. From first call to Deputy Duffus, to Patty pro death penalty at animal control to the last Nannette the Nutjob - it was over 1 1/2 hours. I had to give Nannette directions from where I knew.

That darn raccoon better have lived and lived long after all of that. The kids were just shaking there heads in amazement that I did not give up. That and in our lives - nothing normal ever happens.

I had called OKW a week before we arrived and then 2 days before. Letting them know we had a special needs case to please get us a room as early as possible. Explained the whole deal with Baylor and they assured me it was going to be okay.

We arrived by 10am - and no room was ready. We also needed to buy MVMCP tickets for that night as a surprise for the kids. And get our room keys at least because we were on the dining plan.

The CM was incompetent. Beyond the worst person we had ever ran into. I am a DVC member and a huge proponent of Disney so saying anything negative about it makes me feel like I am ungrateful. Which I am not. I know I am blessed to be able to come to Disney as often as I do. But I expect a minimum of curtesy and I always expect compassion from Disney.

Always.

After 30 minutes of waiting for him to admit he did not know how to run the computer - I asked for a manager.

Explained to her the situation with Baylor. She read the notes and said we would be called right away when a room came up. I said I would even take a traditional 2 bedroom at that point. Whatever was fastest to open up. I was assured I would be in a room by 1p.m.

We had chosen a 2 bedroom lockout. I had never stayed in a place that big with our DVC points. I tend to be greedy and stay in as small of place as possible to stretch out our points.

That was great when the kids were little. I have plenty of cute pics of the kids lying like little logs in the hide-a-bed in a one bedroom. Now though as three young adults - there would be mutiny.

We wanted the lockout so if Dan and I decided to head back early in the evening - we would not have to worry about being woken up with 3 teens crashing through the place after extra evening hours.

A 2 bedroom lockout is a studio
Disney_Old_Key_West_Studio_Suite_SM.gif

and a one bedroom
FP_OKW_ONEBDRM_LRG.GIF

with a joining doorway. Since they can be sold as 2 separate units - there are two separate doors from the outside.

A regular two bedroom is exactly like a one bedroom but has an additional bedroom within the unit.

Having the lockout also meant that when I am up early - making breakfast - the kids could sleep in a bit.

The one bedroom portion unit has a king size bed,

a whirlpool
whirl-pool-hot-tub-for.jpg

and a separate shower. Full kitchen and full laundry.

The studio has 2 queen beds and a mini fridge/microwave plus bathroom.

This was also nice as the kids could have snacks and such at their disposal versus being, "Mommed" the whole trip when they wanted to eat.

I love OKW. Love it. I know it is not as fancy as Beach Club Villas or has as much activity outside as Boardwalk Villas but I love it. I do not like Saratoga at all. I have stayed there once and should probably give it another shot. I found the CM's there not friendly compared to what is the norm at OKW and just did not like the feel of it or the layout.

OKW has the biggest rooms. And biggest kitchen!
kitchen.jpg

It is not a galley kitchen where I would be flipping out at those who think their bottom and mine can fit in a 3x4' space. I also like the quiet element there. The main pool area is nice, hot tub is big enough for the country of Uganda to fit in and it has a Sauna in the light house. What more can you want!

So we decided to head over to DTD to get some lunch, shop a bit and waste time before we got our room.

Next Up -

Hi Dawn! Just catching up with you today, as I recently discovered TR's and dining reviews and have been completely distracted and all over the place reading about other people's trips.

Good for you for trying to save the baby raccoon! I would have done the same thing but a lot of people wouldn't have. I can't believe how much those people didn't want to help the poor little thing though. Jeepers people, isn't this your job?!

I hope you get good news about the soccer team soon.

That's waht I thought. That they should maybe read their nametag to find out what they actally do!
I hope you get good news about the soccer team soon.

Still waiting. So frusterating!

Dawn - Racoon story, hysterical! :rotfl: I love people like that on the phone! Oh and I googled it - Racoon law says that they can only die on Sundays or they will go to Racoon purgatory forever where they will be made to converse with Patty pro death penalty for the rest of time.

And FYI, my ring tone is the theme tune to Dog the Bounty Hunter. Don't you feel more enriched for knowing that! :rotfl:

(I may or may not be dosed up on painkillers at the time of writing this ;))

Thanks for looking it up. I thought as much. ;)

Well you said you like cuffs! Now you just need big guns like Beth!
(I may or may not be dosed up on painkillers at the time of writing this ;))

I would be dissapointed if you were not! Hope you feel better soon!

That is awful that that child felt it was okay to hit Baylor. I just don't understand why some kids seem to lose their minds around teen years. I hope Baylor is okay from it.

ETA: GREAT RACCOON STORY!!!!!!!! Thanks for trying to save a raccoon.

I just have to tell you.. I was laughing out loud at the raccoon story!!!! I'm just glad I'm at home alone and not at work haha:rotfl:

What a good laugh I got at the baby raccoon story! It reminded me of when my best friend had a bat fly into her house one night and no one would come help her either!

The OKW rooms look like a perfect setup with teenagers.

He is fine. A few bumps and some bruising including his pride! The boy is suspended for the rest of the week and school is pressing assault charges in hopes to get him some anger mgmt help.

I could not have left the poor thing to get squished!

OKW was awesome - as far as the bat story...my grandma was pulling out the laundry from the dryer one day - and out came a bat - nice and hot - it had gone inside through the air duct from the dryer.

It still needed a good bit of starch and an iron!;)

Hopefully they will get that child anger management help and I am glad Baylor is okay for the most part.
