I was booking ressies for our Nov 28 -Dec 4 Trip and saw that Fulton's Crab House was a Signature Restaurant how did I miss this:confused3

Disney has Signature Dining Experiences that aren't part of any dining plan. The Signature Dining Experiences that are part of the dining plans are the two credit restaurants.

So, Fulton's is a Signature Dining Experience, but it's not available on the DDP or the DxDDP.

Hope this helps. :goodvibes

Not exactly. Top dining experiences are just called 'signature' by Disney to refer to the ambience or food, it doesn't relate to the dining plan at all. It just so happens that some of the restaurants accept the plan at different levels, and some don't.

i.e. Victoria and Alberts is a signature restaurant, but the only dining plan you can use there is platinum

Shulas is also signature, but doesn't accept any plan

So don't relate the level of the plan to where you can necessarily eat

Fulton's does not accept the Disney Dining Plans at all. They only accept the premium and platinum package plans (which are not the same as the Disney Dining Plans, it's a separate program).

The designation "signature restaurant" does not refer to dining plan status in all cases, it refers to restaurants that are considered an upscale dining experience (with corresponding prices and menu offerings).

when making my online reservations this morning, I clicked on the Only Show Restaurants participating in the Disney Dining Plan and searched for Downtown disney. Fulton's came up? Is this just a glitch in the system?

It's not a glitch really, it's just confusing how Disney does it. You really need to follow through a few steps to get to the 'bottom' of it.

Quite a few restaurants that don't accept the traditional Dining Plans show up when you select "Only show restaurants participating in the Disney Dining Plan."

When you roll your mouse over them there is a circle that has a check mark in it with a line through it with a note "Dining Plan Not Accepted"

When you click on the name of the restaurant, for example Fulton's, it says Dine Plan: "View Dining Plan Information". When you click on View Dine Plan Information there is a pop up box which shows that the Premium and Platinum plans are accepted.

I checked DDP only restaurants for the Grand Floridian shows availability for Victoria & Albert's. A similar check for Downtown Disney and Portobello also shows up the same way. Both restaurants only accept the Platinum (V&A) or Premium and Platinum (Portobello) plans.

I think that the issue basically is that Disney considers the Premium and Platinum plans to be dining plans, even though most of us wouldn't consider them in the 'normal' realm of dining plans.

Why is Disney trying to confuse me at 5:00 a.m.!!! Mind you, it doesn't take much lately:lmao:

Thanks for clearning that up, now to decide if I still want to eat there and just pay OOP?

Haven't eaten there in 14 years, and not sure if it is still good?

I wondered the same thing yesterday but did a search and all I could find was no it's not. So glad to see the explanation. :)
