I was at the dentist's this morning for my 6 month checkup. My whole family has gone to her for over 10 years, and we have a good relationship with her and her office staff. During my exam, she was checking everything out, and I hear her say, "Your nosehair's getting a little long." It took a few seconds for me to realize what she said, so of course I say, "What?" And she repeats, "Your nosehair's getting a little long." Just very non-chalant--no big deal. I had no clue what to say, so I just lay back in the chair thinking, OMG! Did my dentist just say that my nosehair's out of control?!:scared1: When finished, I run to the car, and look in the mirror, twisting my head all different angles to get different perspectives of my nosehair. It looked fine to me! Of course double-checked it in my mirror when I got home--there are no personal grooming issues here! Maybe I should be angry--but I'm not--just kind of amusingly beffudled about the whole thing. I guess she was a little inappropriate, but I actually think it was kind of funny--she really came out of left field with that one--and I can appreciate off-the-wall bizarre moments like this. Maybe she thought she was doing me a favor. Anyway, no cavities, NO STRAYING NOSEHAIR (in my humble opinion!), and I guess the whole thing will make a good story.

OMG!!! I don't know how I would have reacted to that. You have a great out look on things! I think I might have been offended. Especially if I couldn't find a problem!! This is going to make a great story for you to tell for a long time!!:teeth:

I spend the better part of my life in this state, it really isnt all that bad! ;)

LOL
I LOVE IT!!!!! This is classic! :)

:rotfl: Guess your dentist won't win any awards for best bedside (or should I say chairside) manners.

Cheer up, my gynie paused in the middle of my "annual exam" and asked me out of the blue if I heard they were making a new Jaws! :o

See what you can get by with saying when the Tag Fairy is on vacation? :teeth:

Wow! You handled that ALOT better than I would have!!!!!! I'm afraid I would have popped off a comment about something physical about her (her acceptance of her laugh lines, ask her if she had breast reduction, when is the baby due........).

Sometimes it takes a reciprocal "slap in the face" to make the person see that they said something inappropriate!:smooth:

Thanks for the reminder... clip... nosehairs... before... going... to... dentist.

Wow. I wouldn't even want my hair stylist to say something like that. Maybe the dentist has something wrong with her that makes her say whatever pops into her head

Yikes!

She'd better be glad that she didn't say that to me because I would've rolled off some classic Brooklyn euphrenisms she'd STILL be reeling from!

Maybe she was just making a joke to kind of make you laugh. I wouldn't find it funny myself, but the first thing I thought of was that she was just joking.

HOLY HOLY HOLY HOLY HOLY COW

I honestly do not know what I would do in that situation. But HOLY COW:scared1:

All I know for sure is not even my DH would get away with that comment. Im extremely touchy about extra hair and any part of my body mention in the same sentence. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I ordered an ice cream sundae and asked the teenager taking my order if he had wet nuts or dry nuts. I knew when they words were coming out of my mouth that it was not going anywhere good. :p I wanted the floor to open up and swallow me whole!

Sometimes people just say really dumb things. Like ME!

I'm absolutely ROTFLOL:rotfl:

I've read all the replies and I'm still gigling.

And this just continued my laughter to the point where I can't stop.

I see couple long hairs up your nose

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

DH is getting mad at me because I'm shaking the table from laughing. :)

The gyno one - OMG!:earseek: I want NO casual discussions during those exams - there's just no non-awkward way to do that.
