I was at the dentist's this morning for my 6 month checkup. My whole family has gone to her for over 10 years, and we have a good relationship with her and her office staff. During my exam, she was checking everything out, and I hear her say, "Your nosehair's getting a little long." It took a few seconds for me to realize what she said, so of course I say, "What?" And she repeats, "Your nosehair's getting a little long." Just very non-chalant--no big deal. I had no clue what to say, so I just lay back in the chair thinking, OMG! Did my dentist just say that my nosehair's out of control?!
When finished, I run to the car, and look in the mirror, twisting my head all different angles to get different perspectives of my nosehair. It looked fine to me! Of course double-checked it in my mirror when I got home--there are no personal grooming issues here! Maybe I should be angry--but I'm not--just kind of amusingly beffudled about the whole thing. I guess she was a little inappropriate, but I actually think it was kind of funny--she really came out of left field with that one--and I can appreciate off-the-wall bizarre moments like this. Maybe she thought she was doing me a favor. Anyway, no cavities, NO STRAYING NOSEHAIR (in my humble opinion!), and I guess the whole thing will make a good story.
