Did Meal payment change?

I wanted to book some reservations. I looked at CRT and it indicated that credit card would be charged when I booked. When I looked at dates for CP they also wanted a cc. I thought they only took the cc to hold the reservation, not charge it at time of booking. Did this change? What happens if I decide to get the DDP. Do I have to wait for a refund to my cc?
Or if I want to pay with gift cards?

Just wondering if I missed a thread that talked about these changes?

CRT must be paid in full at the time of reservaton or linked to your DDP reservation which is what our TA did for us. All character meals require a CC to hold the reservation and will only be charged $10 per person if you are a no-show. You can pay with the DDP at the time of your meal.

Even signature restaurants ADRs now require a cc (which you are not billed for unless you are a no-show). This is a requirement regardless of how you pay. You have 24 hrs to cancel or you're cc will be billed $10 pp.

I asked a CM when I was booking for our Feb vacation. Her answer for the change was because people were double booking at different restaurants at the same time, going to the reservation they were close to, and no-showing at the other.

Whew! I wasn't looking to pre-pay all my meals yet.

Actually you have up until midnight the day before the reservation It isn't a full 24 hours.

Good to know, I had asked that on another thread but lost track of it. Someone had said 10:00 pm the night before-so you can cancel a breakfast for the next morning before 12 midnight??
