Did Kerry Cheat At the Debate?

Another 5 yard Penalty!

Sorry, but I don't care if they all carry laptops! Either of them will have tons of resources available in the White House. Its how they use that information that matters.

Actually LAZ......... Illegal Procedure would be a five yard penalty and then REPEAT FIRST DOWN........ so just as I said..... we need to repeat the debate :cheer2:

If Bush had done this you all would be SCREAMING from the roof tops, but if it's Kerry it's just a everyone being hysterical.

Ooops, nevermind.... It appears on further review that what he pulled out was his "Lucky Hat" that the CIA agent gave him during that Cambodia gig and he always takes with him! :)

If Bush had done this

Done what????

This is beyond ridiculous. Why not just suck it up, admit Bush lost the debate and hope he does better next time?

And yes, it looks like Bush is pulling something out and placing it on the podium as well.

So what, who cares.

the rules of this debate were so artificial it's a wonder either candidate made a good impression. normally if you're debating you're allowed to have a crib sheet with your factual information available.

Kerry had the lead in the polls until the Republican convention. Kerry did well in the debates and has now regained the lead. if he carries this momentum for the next 30 days we'll likely have anew president in january. that's what's really significant.

Cheating on a debate? Now that sounds really silly.
And I'm voting for Bush!

How intresting that you think that anyone who disagrees with the great and wise YOU must be too stupid to see the truth. I am sure the half of America who disagrees with you will be thrilled that you dismiss them so lightly. I would imagine the lack of respect you show others will win many votes for your side. Well done, as usual. When you lose, you might want to revisit your plan of attack.

The rules were nothing was to come to the podium for the debate. www.drudgereport.com There is now a video circulating the internet that clearly shows Kerry pulling something out of his pocket and placing it on the podium. This was in clear violation of the rules or can I not believe "my lying eyes".

I'm sure "Dubya 007" will get to the bottom of this.

Pathetically desperate is about all I can think of to say regarding this ridiculous thread.

So, the rules don't apply?

c) No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.
(d) Notwithstanding subparagraph 5(c), the candidates may take notes during the debate on the size, color and type of paper each side prefers. Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium, table or other structure to be used by the candidate in that debate.

Apparently Kerry's camp is saying Kerry pulled out a "black pen". Hmmm..okay. Guess we have to go with that, although the pictures Geoff_M posted certiainly make that contention questionable. A black pen that looks like white paper.

10 Best Guesses as to what Kerry pulled out of his pocket.

10. Good luck note from Dan Rather.
9. Original Killian memo--on WordPerfect!
8. Directions to Cambodian Christmas party.
7. John Edwards' billable hours on campaign trail.
6. Appointment slip for next Botox treatment.
5. French to English dictionary.
4. Lucky CIA hat!
3. Commitment papers for Theresa.
2. Leaves of Grass.
1. One way ticket to Boston!!!!

(Maybe it's a pen the CIA agent gave him on his trip into Cambodia on Christmas '68? A mission he was sent on by a President yet to be sworn into office? )

Wow, this thread really gives new meaning to the word, "nitpicky"!

It's very simple. Were the rules broken or not? What's nitpicky about that? Or do the rule not apply?

Well, Kerry obviously HAD a piece of paper. . .he was writing on it and making notes on it throughout the debate. . .how can one deny he wasn't writing on something. . .unless he was writing on the podium itself.

I had assumed it was blank notepaper until this allegation came out. WHy wouldn't his camp state it was just notepaper if it was just notepaper?

I know what Kerry had -- straws for ya'll to grasp. (Thanks for the inspiration danacara!)

This is a joke, right? People aren't really spending time and energy to seriously "investigate" this, are they? This is right up there with the thing about Bush wearing an earpiece so the Secret Service could talk to him.
