We are annual passholders. The CM I spoke with said that if we have one person in our on-site Disny room purchase a "magic your way" ticket, we all could pay for the dining plan too even if the rest of us have annual passports? It doesn't make sense to me - is this correct? Thank you for any info!

It is my understanding that everyone in your room would have to buy at least a 1 day ticket, at least that is how it has been done in the past. You could use that one day ticket to put toward your new AP however.

We were in the same situation last year, when we wanted to take advantage of the free dining. Each person in the room need to have at least a 1 day ticket to be able to add the dining plan to their stay. From what I understand, everyone in your room must be on the same pkg.

If you pay for 1 day MYW, can you purchase 8 days of dining?

As the above posters have stated, you will need at least a one day ticket for each member of the party to get the DDP for your stay. Also, it's my understanding, you will not be able to use an AP rate for the room.

On the other hand, one day tickets have absolutely no expiration since MYW tickets expire 14 days after date of first use (2day - 10day tickets), since you will not be using the one day tickets, they will not ever expire.

Have fun planning your vacation!

Yes, your dining plan MUST be the same length as your stay.

IE, 5 night/ 6 day stay, MUST have 5 days of the DDP, irrelevant of how many days of park tickets your purchase. In this example, you will have 5 TS credits, 5 CS credits, and 5 snack credits for each member of the party.

You will also MUST pay for 5 days for each member of the party, even if you will be arriving very late the date of arrival and leaving very early the day of departure (using all the credits in essentially 4 days in that example).

Hope that makes sense.

You are right about everyone having the plan but it is based on nights not days so a 5 day 5 night stay ends up with everyone having 5 of each of the credits. You must also have purchased at least a 1 day ticket for each person.

Thanks, I edited the first post to reflect the correct info so that someone does not get the wrong info after reading it!

So, let me get this straight.....if we have annual passes, I still have to purchase another ticket for each person in my party to get the dining plan? How much money does disney want from us????? I thought that I could get a room in a disney resort with the AP discount and just add the dining plan to it!!!

Afraid not, the dining plan is part of a package. And the requirements of that package are at least one day MYW ticket for each person and rack rate on the room. If you already have annual passes, the DDP might not be the best for you.

Yeah, you got it right... just another marketing tactic to get more $$$ out of your pockets!

The only benefit would be if you are returning in the next few years, the tickets do not expire, and can be upgraged to APs or muilti day MYW tickets (by simply paying the difference) your next trip. However, if you do that and DDP is offered at that time, you will not be able to get the DDP at that time, cause you did not purchase tickets! LOL!

The only exception is DVC member. As a DVC member staying on points, you are entitled to purchase the DDP without any ticket purchase. But at that point you will have pledged another $15k upfront plus years of annual dues just to be a DVC member!

Disney is a great example of marketing to today's consumer!

Oh, another thing, are you familiar with DDE? It is a great way to save 20% on most sit down retaurants in WDW. It costs $60 up front for AP holders, and only annual passholders and/or Florida residents ($85) qualify. I used it in lieu of the DDP on our most recent trip and was pleased. It's good for a full year, so we'll definitley get our money's worth. With a 10 & 11 Y.O. who eat fairly light, the DDP just didn't make sense for us.

Sometimes, under certain circumstances, WDW offers a discount on the packages. Even if you are buying a discounted package, you must include all the package components - room/tickets/dining plan.

You will not be able to add the Disney dining plan to a room only reservation. Only DVC members staying on points at WDW DVC resorts are eligible to purchase the dining plan without buying some form of MYW ticket for everyone in the party.

I have been told by several CMs that we could add the DDP to our reservation (which is room only AP discount). Now, I read this and I am very confused. If we have to purchase the additional tickets, it will not be worth it for us. Wonder why I have been told this?

If you have a room only reservation (you haven't mentioned the sort of reservation you have) you could add it only if you change it to a package and purchase tickets as well. You may have a room/tickets package. If you already have one of those you can add the dining plan. If you don't already have tickets, you can purchase as little as a one-day base ticket for all of your party. You don't have to purchase tickets for your length of stay.

If you are a DVC member at a DVC resort on points you can add the dining plan without buying tickets.

If you have a room-only reservation (which includes an AP discount), you cannot get the dining plan.

If you have a package reservation, you can. And everyone has to have at least a 1 day base ticket, and everyone has to have the same type of ticket. However, I've used the 1 day base ticket purchased during the free dine promotion, and used it towards my AP renewal.

I have an AP and have used the DDP three times. Sept '06 and Sept '05 I had free dining and May '06 my mom wanted to try the dining plan, so we gave up the AP room discount and purchased it. Every time I've had to buy a MYW ticket (and believe me I asked about using the AP room discount and was denied). I was able to book the free dining for Sept '07 (via the Bounce Back program) and while I was talking with the CM I mentioned that I had an AP and he said then you know all you'll need is a one day MYW ticket for each member of your party. I asked him if he thought the dining plan would ever be available for AP holders and he said 'no, because you can't stack discounts and the DDP is considered a discount'. I also have a trip booked for this May and when I paid it off yesterday I told the CM that I was hoping for an AP discount, but if not was thinking about adding the DDP. She said "you do know you'll have to buy at least a one day MYW ticket in order to get it don't you?"

Because I go more than once a year I have a couple of MYW tickets laying around. I used the one I bought last May though to upgrade to an AP since mine had expired in Jan.
