Did I ruin these pants?

I just realized that a pair of my DH's suit pants ended up in the laundry and have been washed and dried. The label clearly states "professional dry clean only". They are 100% worsted wool.

Have you had your husband try them on? I think the pants are a goner. To felt wool, you need heat, water soap and agitation. I think you hit all of those.

Do they look the same as they used to?

Do they fit okay still?

If the answer is yes to both of them, then I don't think that you have ruined them.

I have washed plenty of things that say dry clean only and not had any problems before.

FWIW, my old work uniform used to be 100% wool... for a long while, I did the whole "Dry Clean Only" thing, and then, I started washing it. It looks great, feels great, and would still fit great!

It might not be a total loss. Just try it on!

How does it look? I washed a wool sweater of my Mom's once, and it would've fit a 4 year old after.

I have had great luck washing "dry clean only" items in the gentle cycle with Woolite.

However, I don't think I've done anything that was pure wool...

Have him try them on - if they still fit and look okay, then you're in the clear.
