Do the rules in the Rent/Trade section say that I can't post a Reservation for Rent until I've reached 30 days before the check in date? So if i have a reservation that I know I can't use in (month removed by moderatror)., I can't put it on the board, correct? That's how I read it, and I just want to be sure I'm understanding it correctly.

Thanks!:disrocks:

That's correct. You can't post an existing reservation for rent until 30 days out (meaning if you cancel, your points go into holding).

Yes, there is a 30 day limitation which was set to match the 30 day holding point that DVC uses.

If you have a reservation far in the future, you can simply cancel it now and all your points will be returned to you with no penalty.

The 30 day rule is also to prevent users who are making speculation reservations, often at holiday periods, from using the DISboards to run their 'rental business'.

The month of your reservation has been removed from your posting, otherwise we would have to delete your post as mentioning a reservation more than 30 days away.

Yes that's correct. If you cancel a reservation 31 days or more prior to check-in, your points go back into your account with no restrictions. If you had to cancel a reservation 30 days to 1 day from check-in, your points would go into the holding account. Points in holding can only be used to book something 60 days or less from check-in. They cannot be banked and expire at the end of your use year. The 30-day rule for posting an existing reservation for rent on the DVC Rent/Trade board allows people to try to rent a reservation when cancelling it would cause their points to go into "holding".
