Did I plan too many character meals?

I don't think that too much b/c we are going to all of the ones you have except for 1900 Park Fare (we have already done breakfast and dinner there). We are also going to Garden Grill and Cape May Breakfast. My son loves character meals so I try to go to as much as possible. Have a magical vacation.

The record I've seen was someone who had planned sixteen character meals in one week.

That would drive me nuts, but just one character meal would probably drive me nuts. It's all up to you and what you can handle. The only thing I usually suggest is that if your young children haven't been around the characters, you might want to make sure they are not afraid of the big head characters before you do so many.

I did exactly those same meals during my 6 night/7 day trip 2 years ago and I didn't feel that they were too many. The kids enjoyed them. They aren't relaxing (we have 4 kids so getting the food and trying to get the photos and autographs can be a little stressful) but I'm glad we did them. I only have 3 planned for my next trip and they are all ones I haven't done yet.

I've scheduled the same meals for our trip later this month (not doing the last one on your list). So, no, I don't think it's too much.

I must be the only one who detests Ohana's breakfast. I don't like that room, didn't like our server, etc. We ate there in Nov.'09. The room is dark (fitting the Poly's theme) with a bunch of windows. Every window was covered with condensation and looked dirty-may not have been but appeared that way. The seats were odd, sat low relative to the table (although not nearly as weird as the Luau's seats). THe upholstery reminded me of patterns reminiscent of Kmart's old Jackie Smith's outdoor furniture line. Then, we bucked the system and refused the pre-meal picture session. We just wanted to get on with it and after doing about 4 meals that "required" pics, all of which we bought, we were not in the mood. So, we got some 'tude from the front desk folks. Then, we got a confused and nervous server who was clearly aggitated that our son had allergies and we didn't notify the receptionist in all the discussion about not getting the picture. If I said I don't want the photo, move on, don't push it, then question why, then go on and explain the value of having the commemorative photo. After all that, I couldn't tell you one thing about the characters or the food, we just wanted to get to the parks. We didn't feel that way about any other character meal.

We also stayed at CR and the only meals we didn't do were Crystal Palace because it was closed for refurb and H&V because DD5 is not familiar with those shows. Even though the food at CM was  we will force ourselves to go back for breakfast because of the fab five  But supper was really :sick: We're never doing that one again. We thought the rest were great :cheer2: I can't wait till January :woohoo:

We agree 100% with your comment about the dinner at CM...nasty. We also stay at CR and partake in the CM breakfast happily, but we won't be doing dinner again.

We have one a day too, all for BF except for Garden Grill and 1900 Park Fare (which I may cancel.) With a 2 yr old, I like that I have a reason to get up and walk around with him if he gets antsy :goodvibes

We have many other "nicer' meals planned besides the character ones....Artist Point, Narcoosee's, Yachtsman, Le Cellier, Raglan Road, Boma. Few other ones too like San Angel Inn (more for the ambience than the food it seems, lol) Yak & Yeti, Kona Cafe, The Wave (maybe). I think it's a good mix, nice sit down meals for the adults and kids, and average food but lots of characters for the kids at the buffets. Plus, most of them are breakfasts, and really, it takes a lot to screw up a breakfast, IMO.

not to rain on the parade, but i think it's too many. i guess there can never be too many, but it's overkill. i say take out a few... plus, it's a lot of time to commit to breakfast. they will love any of them and that won't be affected by the number.

For me it saves me time. I don't have to wait in line for the characters if we do the meals. We are going for 10 days and here our adr's.
Friday CS
Saturday Tusker house
Sunday Garden Grill
Monday Liberty Tree
Tuesday CS
Wednesday Sci-fi
Thursday CRT
Friday Norway
Saturday Crystal Palace

I don't think you can have too many character meals either. We love them for our kids. On our trip in August we are going to

Chef Mickey's - late breakfast
Crystal Palace - early breakfast
Ohana's - breakfast
Garden Grill - dinner

We'll have two TS meals that are not character meals: Le Cellier and Ohana's.

There's no such thing as too many character meals if that's what you want to do! We've done all character meals before (8 days on the dining plann) and loved it. I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Ah I misunderstood before - I thought you were just on the regular dining plan - clearly with all of those TS meals you're on the deluxe plan.

I still don't think you have too many character meals however I do wonder if maybe you're going to end up with too many sit down meals in general for the kids. Sometimes it's tough for little ones to sit still for awhile especially when they're somewhere exciting like Disney.

Have you thought about trying out the regular dining plan for this trip and doing just one TS per day and then seeing how the kids do and maybe doing the deluxe plan on the next trip or when they're a bit older?

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would say not to many, we are going in 2 weeks and have 8 nights of TS meals to cover and all but one are character meals. It beats waiting in long lines.

Exactly yes you can have a donut for lunch too. You are on vacation.
If you get hungry you can order and adult size CS for your kids. The credits aren't seperate for adults and kids for CSs.

Given that you have all these meals for kids. Do you have any you chose for yourself?

Is that true? I didn't realize I can order adult CS menu items for our kids. That's awesome!! That means they can eat something other than Mac-N-Cheese, PB&J sandwiches or chicken nuggets for every CS meal!

Dewdrop, yes we will be on the deluxe plan, and I have 4 signature meals planned, so for 4 other meals we will be using our snack credits for light breakfasts or lunches. Also, we sit down for almost every meal together at home. Well, not during the week for lunches since we're at work, but most breakfasts and dinners we are together. The boys are used to this and think nothing of it. In fact, they are really good at sitting in restaurants, we don't let them wander AT ALL, so all of the meals will be what they consider "normal." I guess though they will be all excited but we're pretty strict with them, god, I sound like a witch, lol!!

Definitely book O'Hana! The hawaiian bread is to die for. It was our favorite character breakfast, followed closely by 1900 Park Fare. Our CM breakfast was very disappointing. The characters were good, but the food was the worst of our 8-day trip.
