Did I make the right decision?

I decided to go for the Deluxe Dining Plan for me and my six year old daughter this summer. Here are our eating habits:

  • We always start every day with a character breakfast (typically before park opening).
  • We always have a table service dinner (character meals, signature dining, or Chefs de France, Tutto Italia, etc.).
  • I always order an appetizer whenever one is available.
  • My daughter always wants a fancy dessert, whenever one is available.
  • We both enjoy the refillable mugs and my daughter loves ice cream and popcorn snacks while touring the parks.
  • We probably won't have a sit down lunch every day, but we may go to Chefs de France just to see Remy and have something light. Also, we may enjoy a counter service meal for lunch at the Epcot eateries or by our resort pool.

Do you think the Deluxe Dining Plan makes financial sense? I looked at the menus, and I decided we would probably spend about the same amount for less food without the plan. So it seems like the plan would be a way to splurge just a little and order some more expensive items than we might do otherwise for a treat. Truthfully, we probably won't need the counterservice lunch midday, but I guess it's there for free if we decide we want it.

Am I seeing clearly? It seems like an okay plan. We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge in July :goodvibes

It sounds like you have done your homework on this one and I am assuming, reading through the lines that WDW is not new to you so you have an idea of portions sizes, transportation times etc, etc.

Given what you have noted down there, it sounds like a good move. :)

Just thought I would add, since you are doing at least 2 TS per day and one is breakfast, if you are able to do a later than usual dinner without it impacting negatively on your DD, you should be able to have a CS luch too almost every day, thus boosting value for you. \How long are you going for?

Your daughter will have to order off the children's menus, which don't generally include "fancy" desserts. If you are doing a number of meals that are not buffets or all you can eat and you are willing to share your dessert the dining plan will fit that mold.

Right now, we are on the Deluxe Dining Plan for 9 nights. We plan to stay two nights at Pop Century before our plan starts, so we can be well-rested. And then, we will check in at the Wilderness Lodge in the early morning.

I also plan to stay two nights at the end of our trip at AKL CL, so that we can decompress, enjoy our last full day on the plan to its fullest, and then relax and enjoy the new resort and pool. We also want to do the Sunrise Safari :goodvibes

I am not much of a sweet eater, so I thought I would give her all my fancy desserts :)

From your list, it looks like you should fit great with DxDDP. As Nala mentioned, you're probably familiar with portions, transportation, and dining time already, so I won't bore you with that either :).

The typical "break even" point is if you spend around 2/3 or more of your alloted credits for TS meals. With the split stay you're doing (assuming no plan at Pop or AKL), you'll do quite well as you can use 2 credits each on your start and end days (of the WL reservation) assuming you do skip (or pay OOP) for at least 2 CS lunches in there.

I've done DxDP twice and would agree with what everyone else is saying... go for it! CRT breakfast and signature dinners would also help "consume" extra DP credits to compensate for days when you aren't planning to eat lunch.

We love the DxDP! You should take DD to California Grill one night and time it so you are there for Wishes. It is amazing to see the fireworks from up there. My DD had so much fun when we took her. We are doing it again this December.

We are doing DxDDP too and we have a 5yr old son. We go to all the character meals, we like room service and we enjoy signature restaurants too. Even when we were not on a DDP we get at least 6 bottles of water a day so I think DxDDP works better for us than DDP (we have done DDP 2x and always left at least 4 credits each b/c we rarely eat CS).
