Did I make the right choice

I had originally booked BC for the first week of July, and then after reading some post on here I decided to change to the Poly.

We stayed at BC in Oct last year and we really liked it, but we thought we would try something different and go to the Poly. I have three girls 13, 9, and 5. Did I make the right choice?

Hey it's Disney, no choice is a wrong choice. The Poly is fabulous and your kids will love it. You are a quick monorail to MK and Epcot and the views are unsurpassed. The pool is not SAB but you will find it far easier to keep an eye on your kids at the Poly pool as it is not so spread out. I think SAB is overrated any way.

You will enjoy your trip whatever you decision and if you miss the Epcot location then you can always plan your next trip when you get back.

We have stayed at BC three times and Poly once, but trust me if we could have stayed there more we would have. BC is an amazing resort (our 2nd favorite), but so is Poly, and since you have switched I think that's a great choice! Poly's dining is very enjoyable and the resort overall has great decor/feeling! Transportation was amazing because of the monorail, and if you feel like anything is going too slow, then you can just easily walk to the ticket center. The best part for us was the pool hands down! It is on the beach as I remember and you can see the water parade perfectly from the pool! The volcano slide was my DD favorite part! Our favorite memory there I would say was being able to sit on the beach and watch the fireworks at MK, it was almost like we could touch them we were so close! When we went DD was 7, so your kids should be just fine. Just know that I think your choice is a great one! Any deluxe resort will make the vacation amazing, but with the pool at the Poly, and the monorail... It will make it extraordinary! I hope you have a wonderful trip filled with many memories, like ours!:thumbsup2

Its a little difficult for us to judge if you made the right choice by switching from BC to Poly without knowing you or your reasons for switching. Having said that, they are both great places to stay. They have a similar (but different) atmosphere with a nice relaxed feeling.

We've stayed at both and while the BC is a great resort, our favorite is the Poly :goodvibes. We love the volcano pool and it's great having a view of the castle off in the distance. I think you made a great choice, especially since you've already stayed at the BC. Have a great trip :wizard:.

We haven't stayed at the Beach Club but our stay at the Poly was heaven. Unfortunately it was a major splurge with a 40% off code and some surprise $ help from my mom, and we can't stay there again.

You will love it! The convenience of the monorail and the lush, relaxing grounds make for a magical stay!

I like the BC, but love the Poly. Not any easy descision by any means. If you notice my ticker were doing a split stay. My kids love the pool at BC, but we all agree that Poly is the better resort. The view of Mk and the castle can't be beat. I also like the rooms better at Poly. They are bigger and you don't have to walk through the lobby to get to your room. Last year we were in the Samoa longhouse. It was steps from the pool. It was great because my kids could go right from the room to the pool barefoot and no coverups. It was also easy to run back to the room to get a soda, beer or whatever else you needed.

I think you will enjoy your stay there.

Something new is always fun, just realize the 4th of July week at the PR is very crowded with non resort guest from other resorts and the Orlando public arriving to watch the fireworks and use your patio chairs. If the resort management takes a passive position they will also use the pools too.

We love the BC, it is one of our favorite resorts. There is nothing like the pool, the location, and atmosphere there. However, like you, we decided to try something different for our next trip. We too are heading to the Poly then on to BLT...we are very excited about it too. I know we are going to like being on the monorail and since we have a MK view we are going to really enjoy watching Wishes from our room. I have stayed at the Poly when I was a kid going with my parents, and this will be a new venture for my DH and both of my DDs...I know they will have a blast there. Like other posters have said, there really isn't any wrong choice when it comes to Disney resorts (especially the deluxe resorts)...so have a wonderful trip :goodvibes.

We love the BC too, but while at the BC I do really miss the easy access to the MK and all the Monorail resort restaurants.

We're going back to a monorail resort this time and of course, in my planning I'm bemoaning how easy it was from the BC to get to those Epcot restaurants.

The Poly is beautiful. I agree that it is easier to keep an eye on your children at the Volcano pool than at Stormalong Bay. The other advantage is having full CS options (and multiple ones via a short monorail ride away). Tonga Toast for b-fast and Dole Whips on the Beach at night are another plus for staying at the Poly.

I am sure you'll enjoy yourself at the Poly. The kids will LOVE everyone greeting them with an Aloha and receiving leis upon arrival. They really do make you feel like you just stepped into paradise.

Well, we just did the opposite. Stayed at Polynesian last trip and loved it and had booked it again for this coming May. However, we decided that we would switch to the BC to give it a try, especially since it saves us $700. I am a bit leery about not having monorail access, which I really liked, but otherwise looking forward to BC. Will say its a bit easier to give up the monorail resorts after they decided to close monorail 1 hour after park closing. We intend to take advantage of evening EMH so would have to take a boat/bus back anyway.

We've stayed at both (and loved both). BC is our favorite, but the Polynesian is lovely too.

Advantages to BC

1. Pool doesn't get nearly as crowded as the Volcano Pool.
Ferry and walkway to EPCOT and DHS.

Advantages to Poly

1. Monorail access to EPCOT and MK.

Both resorts have great restaurants either in walking distance or a short monorail ride away.

You can't go wrong with either one.
