Did I make the right choice from ASM to Pop?

My DD (age 8) and I are going to Disney at the end of October. We had initially booked ASM but a good deal came up for Pop so we switched. Did I make the right choice changing resorts? I have not stayed at either one.

I think that you will enjoy Pop just as much as you would have enjoyd ASM. I wouldn't worry about it, you'll have a wonderful trip no matter what.

Is ASM All-Star Music or All-Star Movies?I think an eight year old would definitely prefer Pop Century over All-Star Music, but might slightly prefer All-Star Movies over Pop Century.I think she will really enjoy Pop Century though.I mean you are an eight year old at Walt Disney World staying at a Walt Disney World resort-what's not to like!:)

We were going to stay at All-Star Movies (sorry - first time!!)
No apology necessary-the abbreviations we use on here can sometimes get confusing for all of us!:) Welcome to the DIS!Is this your first trip to WDW?If you have any questions about Pop Century let me know.It is a really nice resort and was just opened in 2003.It offers some things that the All-Stars do not such as a lake,a bar/lounge area in the food court, certain rooms have a view of Spaceship Earth and the Tower of Terror Hotel, and the high fireworks from IllumiNations and Wishes can be seen from parts of Pop Century.:)

I do have a question about what room to request. With the deal that we were offered, we had to take a standard room. Is any one better than the other. I was kind of hoping to get near the Hippy Dippy pool because my daughter loves to swim. This will actually be my 8th trip to Disney but we have a timeshare so we usually stay there. I thought this would be easier with just my daughter and I since we wouldn't have to rent a car. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would suggest the 1950s section. It has its own pool in the shape of a bowling pin!It also has its own laundry. It also has HUGE icons of both Lady and The Tramp as wall as a four story tall "jukebox".The thing I like best about the 1950s is that some rooms face the lake and from these rooms there is a view of Spaceship Earth and the high fireworks from IllumiNations and Wishes.I think they have recently reclassified some of the 1950s rooms as preferred rooms, but I think those are the rooms closest to the main building and not the ones facing the lake.:)

When I go with my DS, I prefer ASMo to POP, but not enough that I wouldn't book POP if I could get a lower rate at POP.

I have to honestly say that I did not like the All Star Movies at all. That is just my personal preference though and I am sure many people have had a GREAT time there. I have stayed at the Pop twice and LOVE it! I think you have made the right choice. The Pop feels a lot nicer than ASMovies!
:) :goodvibes
