Did I make a good deal?

I just went on VRBO.com, and negotiated a 3BR/2 BA pool home in Florida Pines in Davenport for $550 /8 days, all-inclusive (taxes, cleaning,etc). Is this too good to be true? I talked to the owner (overseas) and intend to talk to the management company tomorrow to get a better feel...and possibly call for a reference as well. Should I do more to make sure everything's on the up and up? Payment will be by check.

I had a 4BR/3BA with a screened pool in Davenport in a gated community and only paid $480, and we were very pleased with it (my dad came up for the day, looked around, and said that I needed to send the owner some more money! ). Just because you got a good price doesn't mean there will be a problem.

The only thing I might check into if I were you would be to see whether I could pay by credit card instead of by check. The credit card would give you some protection in case of any problems. With the house I mentioned above, I paid an extra 3% to the original price (included in that $480 total) to use my credit card (they did it through their management company). It was worth it to me.

How far is Davenport from the parks?
We are planning a trip to wDW Oct 2009, and I am researching for it now.

not that far took us about 20 to 30 mins to get to disney and it was our first time there so didnt have a clue where we were going.... must say its very nice we stayed there last time

I find Davenport to be a comfortable distance from all the hoopla. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the parks from most places on Rte. 27. I stayed in Solana Resort last year, this year it's Florida Pines across the street. I'm thinking I might move there....

Have stayed on Rt 27 for the last 3 years. Legacy Park, Heritage Hills and Westridge. Florida Pines is up the street heading to Champions Gate. We are in the process of buying a 4 bedroom condo at Terrace Ridge, which is on Lake Wilson Rd. Love the quietness of the area and it really is not that far to the Parks, about 15 minutes or so. You have paid a very good rate for your 3 b/2 b home. Have a great vacation.
