Did I Hear That Right? A Solo Adventure at WDW Updated 8/30

Wow, I was really behind!!

You got a lot of great shots of BOG! It is so gorgeous in there, but that lighting is really low. Your pictures still looked great!

Last February I did 4 rounds of Space Mountain than Buzz back to back. It is pretty fun.

It's great that you were able to help that family with their plans and understanding the park. I'll never understand how people can go there without planning, but it's their vacation. And, of course, I LOVE your Safari pictures.

Great update! Too funny about the dad on EE with you...he does look a little timid (I'd have my eyes closed praying for it to end).

I love that you became a "tour guide" and how sweet of you to let those people know that they really needed to make reservations.

Great safari pictures...especially love the giraffe ones.

What a fun way to spend your time in the safari queue! Ariana-Disney tour guide extraordinaire at your service! :thumbsup2 Lovely pictures of the animals...I never get tired of seeing them. :goodvibes

I always ask for the front!! Sometimes there’s a bit of a wait for it, but not usually. I like to do the front, then back, and then wherever in ee, it’s great!

Aaha, how awesome you became a tour guide for a bit!! That’s great! I would absolutely love to be a Disney travel agent/tour guide, it’d be wicked! It’s always a shock to me the amount of people who go into Disney not knowing anything!

No worries on being behind! I've been struggling to keep up lately too.

I loved BOG so much, I wish I could eat there every night of my life!

I did have a lot of fun with SM & Buzz this trip. There is more yet to come!

I hope my advice helped them to have a better day at AK. Thanks on the pictures.

He was really freaked out, I found it quite amusing.

I hate to see anyone struggling at Disney so I was glad they let me help.

I knew you would love the Giraffe pictures!

It was fun! My only struggle was trying to describe the attractions in a neutral way. The only one I got a little carried away was FOLK. I pretty much told them they had to see it! :rotfl:

Thanks on the pictures, I never get tired of Safari pictures either.

I did ask for the front on my second ride that day. And that turned out to be quite the interesting experience that you will get to hear about in the next update!

They were not the only ones I ran into that were clueless! It amazes me that you could go anywhere and not know what to do there. I research every vacation I go on whether it's Disney or something else. Why spend that kind of money and not know what to do? :confused3

So I got something in the mail today and I had to share. I've mentioned in the past that I'm going to WDW with family in February 2014 and that my cousin is getting married while we are there. Her Save the Date came today and I think it's one of the best ones I've ever gotten. I just had to share it with you guys!

Underneath the blocked part at the top is their names and a picture of the castle. Just perfect!!

I absolutely LOVE it!!!!

I LOVE the "save the date" fastpass!!! So cool!

That must have been an awesome way to spend the time in line, helping some rookies. I love helping people with Disney so much.

Oh my gosh, LOVE the save the date fast pass! I've seen them online and think they are the cutest things ever and will definitely be seen at my wedding!! :thumbsup2

Hi! I followed you over from D's PTR.

Really enjoying your solo TR. I'm thinking of a solo trip in Nov. I've been to WDW 30+ times but never on a solo trip. I've planned a few solo trips but always end up talking someone into coming with me. The last two years I've gone with a friend in November just after a crazy busy time at work. I don't think I can make it through that time at work without a trip booked this year. She is celebrating a milestone birthday this year and is planning a trip with her cousin for that so I don't think she'll be up for a Nov trip with me. We travel so well together. We would be at rope drop together. Tour together in the morning then have lunch together then have afternoons to ourselves before meeting up for dinner. It was great to have someone to eat with yet still have time for myself.

Loving all your photos! I've stayed at ASMu (in a suite) & ASMo twice but do agree with you that I like Pop better.

Love that you did SM 4 times in a row. I don't think I could do that. It's a bit too rough for me. I did however once do Everest 12 times in a row when they still had PM EMH at AK. It was so fun!

Love that fast pass save the date card. Too cute!

Oh & I have a Pluto fan.pluto: My youngest DD(10) loves Pluto and Stitch. And has a soft spot for all other Disney dogs except Goofy. She likes him but doesn't love him. I guess he's not dog enough for her.:rotfl: she has that T you bought your niece. She also has a cute one that is a word fill too. I tried to find a picture online but could only find these:

Looking forward to reading more about your trip.

I have no doubt you will use that for your Disney wedding! I love seeing it on my refrigerator every day.

Hi! I followed you over from D's PTR.

:welcome: Glad you joined in!

Once you finally go on a solo trip you will want to do it all the time! As much as I love going with family and friends, it is quite addicting to be able to do what you want, when you want. I'm already quietly (shhhhhh! :rotfl:) thinking about my next solo trip. It's probably going to be Nov or Dec 2014. I really want to see the Christmas stuff again.

Loving all your photos! I've stayed at ASMu (in a suite) & ASMo twice but do agree with you that I like Pop better.

Yeah, POP is just a step above the All Star resorts. I'm excited to stay at POP again in October. DH actually picked it because he loves everything 80s. I'm betting you can figure out which section I will be requesting. ::yes::

Love that you did SM 4 times in a row. I don't think I could do that. It's a bit too rough for me. I did however once do Everest 12 times in a row when they still had PM EMH at AK. It was so fun!

I was hurting a little bit after all four. I think just as much from the running through the long line as the ride itself! I did find that the back seat was the roughest. Your record on Everest is impressive! Unfortunately I don't think I could do it 12 times in a row without pucking!

Love that fast pass save the date card. Too cute!

It was so fun to see when I opened the envelope!

Yay for a Pluto fan! I've been a fan of Pluto since before I can remember. No idea where the facination came from but it has never faded. I've seen those ones you posted the link for but they didn't have a Pluto one. :sad1: I did see some new shirts that were released recently and there is a Pluto one. I will be buying that one in October!

Looking forward to reading more about your trip.

Thanks, glad to have you along for the ride!

When we left off, I was headed back around to Asia to use my EE FP. I apparently did not take one picture on my walk back because the next one was my ride photo. But before we get to that….

I got in the FP line and as I did a family behind me asked if I would like another FP since I was alone. They had one of their family members that chickened out at the last minute. Of course I wasn’t going to pass up a bonus FP!

When I got to the front of the line, I saw that there was no one waiting for the front seat so I decided to go for it. I’m not sure that was the best idea in the end. I really loved being in the front and it did not scare me in the least but if you remember, it was cold, cold, cold that day! By the time we started up the first hill, my eyes were starting to water. Once we hit the big hill and the fast part at the end, I was crying so bad that I could barely see. And then one of my eyes went totally blurry and I thought OH NO, I’ve lost a contact. You see, I am seriously blind without my contacts or glasses. I was thinking of the time I was going to lose traveling back to my room to replace the contact. Thank goodness though when I got off the ride I realized that I had just gotten some makeup in my eye and the contact was still there! I just had to do some serious blinking to clear up the blurriness. If I ride in the front again, it’s going to have to be on a warm day for sure.

My partner on this ride was a younger kid and he barely said two words to me. Despite the contact scare, I circled back around and got in line to us my bonus FP. This time I got seated towards the back and the guy they seated with me talked non-stop through the entire ride. I’m not sure how he kept up the chatter when we were going that fast! I didn’t mind though, he was very nice.

After my third ride, I debated about getting in the single rider line (it was very short) and going for a fourth trip, but I was starting to feel slightly nauseous again. Bonine limit reached. Rather than make myself really sick I started towards my lunch destination. I had a ridiculously early dinner ADR so I wanted to hit up Flame Tree right at 11 am when it opened. I got there a bit before it opened so I spent some time in the store right across from it but didn’t buy anything. I was thinking about getting a new hoodie and was scoping out all the stores.

I got in line as soon as Flame Tree opened and I got my usual, the ½ chicken meal.

My dessert was the Chocolate Mousse and I also got a soda.

I headed down towards the lake and found a seat with this view:

A little closer…..

It sure pays to eat lunch early.

I was totally alone for most of my meal. Two other families joined me when I was almost done. I did eat rather quickly since it was so chilly. It wasn’t too bad where I was sitting except when the wind started blowing. Another picture of my view.

I love Flame Tree so of course I ate every bite and then headed off towards Dinoland.

For those of you who know me, you can probably guess where I was headed. The Pluto meet and greet in Dinoland is my favorite place to meet my guy! I like it because the line is never too long and there is shade if it’s a hot day. Didn’t have that problem this trip! I got in line and only waited about 15 minutes and then it was my turn.

Pluto was awesome, he wouldn’t stop licking me and I had the giggles the whole time. I had worn one of my Pluto T-shirts and despite the cold, I had to take off my sweatshirt for the pictures. I also had one of the CMs take pictures with my camera.

This is one of my favorites from the trip, Pluto is licking me and I look like I have a mustache from Goofy’s whiskers. But you can see pure joy and happiness on my face.

I’m glad I gave my camera to the CM because he took twice as many pictures as the PP photographer.

I really thought the PP guy would have taken more because he recognized me from my November trip with Mom. It wasn’t at the AK Pluto meet and greet but I did recognize him but couldn’t place where he took our picture.

After I finished with Pluto, I quickly put my sweatshirt back on because I was freezing. I had one more stop in Dinoland so I headed that way.

There was actually a small line so I took some pictures as I waited.

I waited about 10 minutes and was loaded in the back of a vehicle with a Mom and her two kids. The front two rows were filled with a group of eight teenagers. About half of the group was scared out of their minds and it made for an amusing ride. Since the ride itself is so loud, their screaming didn’t bother me at all, just made me laugh. I did feel kind of bad for the two kids in my row but Mom said they had ridden before and liked the ride. As for me well, this ride photo will show you exactly how I felt.

Yep, grinning from ear to ear. It doesn’t look like those kids with me liked it as much as their Mom said they did.

This has got to be one of my favorite updates so far! :goodvibes First of all, you know I HAVE to comment on the food... :rolleyes1 YUUUUUMMMMMM!!!! I am now salivating for some Flametree BBQ! And there is no better view than right there from those tables. That is where we sat too, it felt like heaven. :cloud9:

That fun picture of you and Pluto and Goofy? PERFECTION! Seriously, that is just the best. The sheer joy on your face is so obvious. That one should be framed and put in your Pluto room! :thumbsup2

Oh how I am going to miss my happy place this fall...I am really excited about the other places we are going, too. I tried to find some fun folks to talk about "the other place" with...but the forum thread for that place was just not a very active thread (probably since it is basically a "do it all in a day" type park)...so no one to obsess with the way we Disney crazies obsess. :rotfl:

Love your pics! :)

Thanks!

Flametree is just one of my favorite CS ever! I'm planning on letting Jim pick the CS places at the other three parks but we WILL be eating at Flametree. :rotfl: I'm glad I read so many TRs or I wouldn't even have known those seats by the water existed. Nothing like munching on wonderful Flametree foods while listening to the screams from EE across the water!

I do really love the Pluto & Goofy picture. I usually pick one picture from each trip to frame and I can't decide between that one and the one with the Beast that I used in the first post. Sigh, tough Disney decisions. :lmao: I really should just make a choice since it's already been almost 3 months since my trip.

Hopefully you will discover a new place to love when you go in October. I've never been to the park you are going to or I would help you out. Now if you ever end up at Universal... I know lots about that park. Shhh... don't tell anyone. ::yes::

YAY multiple EE rides! GOod thing you didn't lose a contact, that would be not great at all!!
Flame tree is so yummy, I'm definitely going to have to try the chicken and ribs next time!! And a beautiful view!! Going to have to check that out as well!

What a great meet with Pluto!! :thumbsup2

I just loved this update. I certainly couldn't go on EE as many times as you. Wait, I can't go on it at all. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Love the character interaction with Pluto and Goofy...you got some great shots there.

We've not done Flame Tree in a while...I must find a time to get back there.

Those kids do NOT look happy at all on Dinosaur. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I love EE, I wish it didn't make me sick because I would ride it over and over! I have a feeling I'll be using the single rider line in October because DH is going to take one look at the big hill and be like, "oh heck no!" He's a huge wimp when it comes to rides.

You should try the chicken, it's really good. Don't know about the ribs, I've never had them. It's kind of hard to find the awesome seating. It's down a few levels and you kind of have to weave around other areas. But it is sure worth the view to get down there!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the update. I actually find EE to be the most mild of the big coasters. Other than the one big hill and the backwards part, it's not much worse than BTMR

I was very happy with the meet and greet and the pictures that I got from it.

Definitely find time to get back to Flametree, it's yummy!

Those kids were not happy! I talked with the little girl next to me to try to help her get through it.

I love reading your trip reports!

Thanks! Glad you are along for the ride.
