I have been reading alot of the 5/7 deals, and some of them are making me choke on my mickey ears.... lol....

We got the Summer Dream maker deal, with a prince and princess add on.. From June 30- July 7 for 2,200.... Staying at All star sports preffered room...

was this a good deal.. or could I have gotten better?

We have never booked a package since we have never thought it was a better deal than booking items separately. I believe that you can get value resort for $84 with resort codes (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and perhaps you are paying $99 a night for preferred room which means that you are paying a little over $750.00 for the room. So, that would leave around $1450 for tickets and the package - you should add them up separately and see how much more or less it would have been. I prefer to book room and tickets separately every time because I know it saves money; to tell you the truth, I don't think the 7/5 deal is that great - the 7/4 deal was much better but I don't think that they've extended it. Let us know how you make out:)

Honestly I don't know b/c I am not sure how much the princess/prince add on is, but we have quotes for $1100 for 7 nights at the All Star resorts, so to me that seems pretty high (and that is including room and UPH for 2 people). But I also don't know how large your family is so thats a factor as well. :D

How many adults and children??

I think whether you got a good deal or not depends on how you plan to use your time while at WDW. Do you want to go to Disney quest? Do you want to go to the parks each day all day or would you rather have a day off to rest in the middle??

From looking at mousesavers.com, I think the following is correct:
The room only codes for that time frame are expired. You could get AAA for about $102 per night (preferred) tax included x 7 = $714. If you have an AP, you could get it for $77 per night (preferred) with tax for a total of $539. You should add in the cost of what ever type of ticket you would like or need.

A 7 night/8 day UPH advance purchase from disney is $380.22 for adults and $304.61 for children.

Park hoppers advance purchase from Disney is (tax included):
5 day PHP 275.86/221.53
6 day PHP 306.74/246.04
7 day PHP 336.56/269.45

You can purchase them for cheaper at other ticket brokers, but there are too many to list. The PHP are cheaper than the UPH, but don't include Disney Quest and you can't come and go as you please.

The prince and princess add on can only be purchased if you get the dreammaker package. It is $23 per adult and $64 per child and comes with a breakfast voucher for each person and $50 disney dollars for the kids.

Add up all the options and see how it compares to your package.

p.s. some of the prices of people's reservations make me choke too! some of them are more for the room only than our whole package!!
Not criticizing.

Whoops.. it is me, Hubby and two sons...

The prince and princess add on is 29 per adult, per night, and 64 per child per night... it also came with 100 disney dollars ( 50 per child).. 2 souvienrs.. a character breakfast... and some other stuff..

we have a preffered room, and are staying 8 days instead of the typical 7.

I thought it was a really good deal.. but saw some better hotels with 7 days at a little cheaper than what we got... But then again, I don't think they had the add-on to the dream maker...

From what you just told us, I don't believe that you got a raw deal. If it were just 2 adults staying 7 nights, then it would say that it was not feasible but explaining that it is your family with tickets, add-ons for 8 nights, I think you made out pretty well. The ony thing I have ever questioned is the add-ons - I think it is only a good deal if you take advantage of everything that is included and if you do, then I believe you got yourself a good deal.
Just to compare, DH and I have ressies at CBR in value season with a AAA rate for 10 nights and it amounts to $1136.00 with tax - we just renewed our APs for $361.00 pp so we are paying almost $1900 just for the two of us in value season as opposed to your family of four spending 8 nights during regular season for only $300.00 more with add-ons and 100 Disney dollars - I think you got a good deal. Hope this helps - have fun:)
