Keeping my son home from school? He fell asleep in the car yesterday at 4:30 and slept through the night. Woke up a little earlier than usual this morning. I took his temp when we got home last night and it was around 101. Of course, this was when he's sleeping. He's been having a sore throat the last few days but when I asked him this morning how he felt he said "fine..er sick" Because of the fever last night, I called him in sick this morning.

I'm still debating on whether or not to keep my younger son home from preschool. He's fine, but with older brother being "sick" and me sick (I have a bad sore throat), I think I might just keep him home just in case.

I would have kept him home too. Hope you all feel better soon. :)

Our school district wants them to fever free for 24 hours before sending them in.

If he had a fever last night, yes, you did the right thing. I wish more parents would. Fever free for 24hrs. is a good rule to follow.:thumbsup2

I would send your preschooler if he isn't sick. You can't get in the habit of keeping them out for a 'what if' situation. It WILL come back to haunt you later, "but mom, remember that time you let ME stay home when Billy was sick and I wasn't". :lmao: .

Our school wants kids to be fever free for 24 hours and that fever being 100 or under. If my child had a fever the previous night while sleeping of 101 and felt fine the next morning I would send them but if they were still not feeling well, I would keep them home.

I think you made the right decision. Not only for your son's sake (to get rest and get better), but also to possibly protect the other children in that window of "contagiousness."

Hope you all feel better ... :wizard:

Alright thanks, I feel better about keeping him home. He's only in K, so he's not missing anything big. I went ahead and sent my little one since he's fine and most likely will just get into trouble at home. :rotfl:

I would have kept him home too. He's obviously sick and a day at home will re-charge his batteries.
