Did DVC Screw Up?

I'm not buying the "DVC glitch" story either. It also points out why DVC wants nothing to do with rentals. This person's first question is what is DVC going to do to make it right? If I were her, I'd be asking the person I'm renting from for a refund.

Could the DVC memeber have been behind in paying their dues, the reservation got cancelled, after the member paid the money due the BWV reservation had already gone to someone on the wait list?

I wonder if it was maybe the same "commerical" renter that was running wild around here a few weeks ago.

That's why my first thought was that the owner sold some points... Wouldn't be the first time someone renting points has done this..... Lewis has a good theory too.

There may have been a reservation, but since DVC is NOT making the member whole I am not inclined to blame them for the screwup....

How did the BC room show up when owners complain about not being able to get into BC? The op does say that she has a confirmation.

Rooms show up.... just this June I got a studio at BCV with about 7 days notice so it can happen. (I think it's actuall easier late. Poeple have to cancel late sometimes and waitlists cancel at 30 days unless you call....I cancelled another BCV for late August becasue while my studio came thru the 2 BR I also needed didn't so I went back to OKW where I had both confirmed)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but its sounds as if the renter forgot to make the ressie...maybe just inquired about availability. Then finally realized the screw up and when they called back the resort was booked. So they booked another resort and blamed DVC. Hence...thats why there was no confirmation letter......I feel bad for the renter in this situation. MS is generally pretty thorough with the ressies....some point allocation mess ups but not resorts mess ups.

I don't know for sure, but the biggeset thing that does NOT make sense is the idea that this is costing the renter more points.

In February, I went for a quick trip and stayed at the Boardwalk Villas. I got there and the lady could not find my reservation. She was new though, and I had my confirmation in hand so I was not terribly worried. It turns out that my room was moved from a standard view to a preferred view. Obviously that would cost more points!

The other odd thing is that it was now a reservation in my husband's name and not my name. The new lady almost did NOT let me take the room.

Considering this was my birthday trip, I would have been very ticked

Another CM came over to help the new lady, and said it was jus upgraded for me. Whomever did the upgrade accidentally had the wrong name (defaulted to my DH, even though I'm the Disney lover)

What happened exactly? I am not 100% sure. It was either a glitch or someone was being sweet since it was my birthday (actually day after) or the like.

My point is, their mistake or being nice wouldn't cost me anything. I think it almost had to be the error of the renter because she wouldn't lose a night or be charged more points if it was DVC error.

That alone makes me a wee bit worried for the renter. I do hope it all does work out. I just think that had it been a glitch, they would have received a call and NOT just a letter. Between that and the more points story (makes it sound like a sob "well I got screwed too" story) makes me not believe the renter.
